"True North" Indiana is 20 years late on MAJOR realignment in all athletic conferences....I would include the SAC & DAC in that...althought those conferences are "healthy" conferences....they could make a few changes and be really solid conferences. The driving distances/time change issues are just an excuse. Both metro Indy schools and "rural" schools have way more driving on the average Friday night.

(caution, I still rememeber college Statistics)😇 We are talking about "teams"....not individual "players". Keep in mind, the population of Indiana is larger today....big high schools are, well,... "bigger". In 1980, there were about 5.5 million people. Today its at (or close) to 7 million, around a 25% increase. If we are talking about the top 1% of athletic genetics in the that population... In 1980 that was 55,000 people Today that is 70,000 people You can extrapolate there are 25% more "great" players playing high school football today to fill out the rosters of high school teams. Even if the quality of each individual player is more or less the same. The one statistic I don't have the effort to look up is the number of IHSAA members schools in 1980 vs Now. Although I don't suspect its gone up 25% (as population has), especially in the biggest classes.

When I was at a smaller school we actually liked the move to Saturdays. Was hard to do get ready for Friday on Monday's when most of the staff and all your 2's (and a lot of special teams guys) were still at a game for "last week's" opponent. Was still plenty of time to get things done after that 10am JV game (and I was a coordinator). I agree 100% on the Thursday night Frosh thing. If you are a smaller staff, doing JV & Frosh at the same time would be difficult. For a while (mid 2000's?) we used to do JV/Frosh double headers on Saturday's with some schools. That was a long day, and it didn't last long for good reasons.

In Northern IN, it is very common for some of the better Frosh (who mostly play Thursday night up there) to play extra quarters in the Saturday JV game. Again, this is VERY common. Way back in the 1900's, I think I played in over half of the JV games as freshman...but only for a quarter or a half.... ....Playing 8 quarters would be a no-no. (As an aside....does anyone still play JV on Mondays? That is a practice that I was glad to see die out in Central Indiana. The switch to Frosh/JV playing opposite on Saturday mornings is one of the best quality of life changes to football coaches anywere)

The thing about Banks was he was so dominant in every phase of the game O, D, Specials. And as a QB his impact was much more significant. And against the state's best.

Banks was the best HS player I ever saw play in person...and I've seen some good ones.

In 2020 & 21 Carmel's post-season opponenets were some combination of Brownburg, Avon, BD, & Pike...were they all in the north that cycle???

Can't really argue with the top 3. After that, I think there could be a lot of arguments made for some drastically different opinions. 2024 BBurg is much too low in my opinion....

I need someone to explain to me like I'm 8, why there is a five team sectional in 5A. There is a 7 team sectional in both 4A North & South. I suspect the answer is the same one given above for the DC/Cath swap

Curious how this would shake out if you could do it only for Sectional, Regional, & SemiState Championship games. Travel may be further, crowds are typically larger, weather is more of a factor, etc

Girls LAX is spring correct? I know Rugby is spring. I also realize not all schools have these sports, but this may be the reason for fall.

Maybe one of those kids is an absolute stud?😇 In reality, I think the co-op thing will be much more attractive when BOTH schools currently don't have football and would co-op to start a program. I don't see many established progreams of any size wanting to co-op with another school (whether the other school has football or not). Might be proved wrong though. They way this is written probably shrinks the number of schools that might take advantage of it....How many small, adjacent districts BOTH are non-football and want to start a co-op? I literally have no idea.

Last season Avon, arguably, was hit by the worst injury bug of any team in Indy.

Ther primary factor isn't if climate is changing or is not changing... The primary factor is more property is developed, instead of rural/ag. Therefore weather destroys more property than it used to. If last night's tornado came through BB/ZV/Carm in the 1980's... the number of properties damaged would have been a tiny fraction of the number properties damaged last night.

Recent comments by Standford President on state of college football (it was a long statement so I'll paraphrase): ...modern college football is "unethical", "unchristian", "unsportsmanlike" and "a monstrosity". "Practically all the major universities employ questionable methods in securing athletes". The President heaped particular scorn on Michigan, where it was claimed the alumni and cheap gamblers of the town brought in men...and paid them salaries to play on Michigan teams

My understanding is the "undue influence" part of IHSAA By-Law's is still in effect (as it should be). How much will that be investigated/policed? Will be interesting to see. Someone in the know can correct me if I am wrong...
