This is funny. "For training purposes only" I guess that means they are training for a disaster in Dallas after another playoff loss? 🤣 https://www.wesh.com/article/fema-accidentally-declares-major-disaster-saints-cowboys-game/62298265?utm_campaign=snd-autopilot&fbclid=IwY2xjawFbvQ1leHRuA2FlbQIxMQABHXGY1ffhf4cT8656T6HjdKAx64DLdHGRA59T-xjBtag4iEBV-JbH8H3TeA_aem_LR-4RHkZCSgmNjjA2Vylxg

They did.......offered him when he was at Utah. They sent a plane to Salt Lake City to pick him up. He sent it back as he took the offer from Florida.

Tournament History Question
Irishman replied to cpg1970's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Not sure I wanna read it; still pissed about the tie breaker with us (WC), LN, and Perry Meridian. Sorry Rudy, nothing personal. 🙂 -
Willing to bet Deion was the next one up. he HAS to have a great season from this point forward. I cannot see Urban going anywhere at this point either. The studio job is too easy. And he has too much baggage; not just scandals, but leaving after a short time is a concern as well; wherever he has been.

😄Just coverin all the bases.

Timing has been huge for the team and city. And honestly, luck has sure played a part. I still remember in the mid 80's Frank DeFord did a cover story for Sports Illustrated saying it was time for the Packers to move to Milwaukee. A series of bad/sentimental hires kept the team down in the 70's and 80's. There was also the R issue in the 80's. James Lofton was a big trade for them, but after he had some trouble with law enforcement, there was pressure on the team to get rid of him and they did. It sent a strong message in the early years of free agency moves. Ron Wolf Was the first piece put in place in 1991. He really was the architect of what we see now. Interesting story...Lindy Infante was the coach at the time. He knew the first day of training camp that he was going to fire Infante. What he saw at practice in just one day was enough. But he never believed in firing a coach during the season. They finished that season 4-12. Wolf was able to hire Mike Holmgren, trade for Favre, and sign Reggie White as a free agent. That was a HUGE signing because there was a reputation that black players struggle in Green Bay. He also drafted Edgar Bennett and Mark Chmura that year. Favre took over the starting QB job during that season. They were now on track. Wolf may have stayed a bit too long though. Losing Holmgren was huge. But I did feel they definitely should have had more than the 2 appearances in the Super Bowl they had. One HUGE factor in some level of consistency has been the fact that they had Favre and Rodgers stay healthy and play as long as they did. How many teams had just 2 QB's span a 30 year time frame? Historically, you can also credit George Halas. In the late 50's the league was considering eliminating teams that could not compete. Green Bay was at the top of the list. They were not competing; they were in a small town. Halas called the commissioner and said if Green Bay does not have a team, the league will not survive. Another moment; Jim Lee Howell retired as the head coach of the Giants. The replacement was an obvious one. Lombardi was from Jersey, and wanted to be home coaching. He was in his 2nd season in Green Bay, and his wife was miserable there. Her family was all back East as well. Halas called Pete Rozelle who was in his first year as commissioner and said he needed to convince Lombardi to stay in Green Bay. Rozelle made the call, and the rest is history. So thank you Papa Bear

Pretty cool milestone to reach....first. 🙂 https://www.givemesport.com/packers-first-nfl-team-800-wins/

Nice win, but they SHOULD have put this one away early. Jacobs has over 100 yards in the 1st half, and the team has over 200 yards rushing in the 1st half and only 10 points to show for it. It was nice seeing the run game featured though. I do think Jacobs showed one thing he has that Jones did not; and it is in no way a knock on Jones. But Jacobs has that move; stick a foot in the ground and go where the opening is, where Jones would just run through with no plant foot. It's also nice the Packers won this one so my students cannot talk crap like they did all week leading up to the weekend. 😄

Nice win on a long road trip. Rourke really looked good in this one too. I liked seeing the run game going well. Penalties were tough to see. Some head scratching interpretations of things as well.

Week #4 scores
Irishman replied to Gridiron_Junkie's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Final: Warren Central 35, Lawrence Central 0. Warriors have still not allowed a point. Four shutouts 114-0. The gold chromed helmets are pretty badass too. -
As a chaperone on a youth group trip to the Grand Tetons, we stayed one night on campus in Cheyenne. Beautiful campus with the mountains still in the distance as a backdrop.

If this team is a playoff team, then the NCAA went too far with expanding the playoffs. I agree though that if they win out they probably are in the top 12. Another loss would seal their fate for sure.

Latest rankings are out. Top heavy with SEC teams. With Texas in the mix, it might get interesting. https://www.cbssports.com/college-football/news/ap-top-25-poll-texas-jumps-ohio-state-as-sec-makes-history-in-college-football-rankings/

Based on previous college football seasons, enough teams in the teens will have a loss that drops them. There are a lot of teams from the SEC in the top 10. Once they start playing each other, those rankings will shake up. The B1G has 4 teams in the top 12. ND SHOULD not have another loss. Being at 18, it's not unrealistic that they are flirting with a 12th place ranking. I am not saying they deserve to, even 10 -12 weeks from now, this loss will keep me from saying they should be in no matter how well they play the rest of the way.
-
I figured 20th would be the highest they should have been ranked.

Failed fishing trips.......they now run the risk of losing guys. What's the message to them after putting in so much effort to get them in the program? That said, 63% of the 68 power conference starting QB's are transfers, so it's a more common practice. Nothing to lose at this point though, so try one of the other guys.

So many bad plays......all around today, and the trend continues of embarrassing home upsets by teams that should have been put away. Seeing comments, most of the focus is on the offense. I want to focus on the defense. I have felt as long as he has been there that Golden's defense has had issues. The scheme is flawed. It also looks like they make zero adjustments to address something, or someone who has been beating the defense. They make 2 or 3 good plays every set of 4 downs, but continually give up one play that keeps a drive alive. Way too many open receivers; the QB was able to escape and gain yards. And why Golden continually blitzes a safety who NEVER gets to the QB is beyond me. I almost forgot to add bad tackling and missed tackling was a problem as well.
