Maybe Jeff will be the next member of the HNAC?

I heard that the Pioneer Panthers will be changing their mascot because it offends five year olds.

Logansport has seemed to be treading water in many sports recently. They haven't been horrendous in most, but they were a 4A school in a mostly 5A/6A conference. However, they have stuck out like a sore thumb lately demographically in the NCC. NCC school population by city Indy - 887K Lafayette - 70783 Muncie - 65914 Kokomo - 59604 Richmond - 35720 Marion - 28310 Logansport - 18366 Keep in mind that I only used the "city" populations, not the metro populations, which are much larger in the larger cities.

Logan and Western are both 4A in football.

Isn't Jay County in a similar sized conference as a 4A and doesn't dominate it? I don't see anything wrong with Frankfort joining that conference in order to compete. If they start dominating they can always join a larger conference again. Why won't Frankfort join the Hoosier? It's a better competitive fit than their current conference.

I was interested in the league until I realized that it involved a reality-house show that I could give two craps about. I also found it to have far too many rules, including not being able to leave your feet, which part of the facial area can be slapped, which part of the hand can be used and etc. I understand that there are safety concerns, but are there really? I mean, it's a sport involving two fit and strong men repeatedly slapping each other, in the face, without any protection or the ability to move. I watched the first episode and none of the rules were really explained and several fights ended with a slapper losing by DQ, but moving on to the next round because they injured their opponent with an illegal slap. Without the idiotic reality TV formula, both fighters should've been eliminated. Many of the fighters are only receiving a few thousand dollars to compete in the show, which is a joke when considering that Dana White owns it.

You all laugh, but don't forget that these jerseys/uniforms were virtually retired.

So a guy doing a Lambeau leap "doesn't know how to handle himself?" A guy doing a fist pump doesn't know how to handle himself?

While I understand what the point is, I've always found it to be too strict, but maybe that's just me. I see no harm in changing the rules as long as the rule change is simple. If they're not going to play pro football, why not let them celebrate now and have a bit of fun?

I have no problem seeing kids do a little celebration dance after scoring a TD if it is tasteful, not drawn out, and not disrespectful to anybody, including the opponent. If the pros can act like kids, why can't the kids act like kids?

Does anyone want to take a crack at how adding Blackhawk to 1A will shake up the existing sectionals? It probably won't happen for a few more years and things might change by then, but I still find it interesting to guess.

I get it. I was briefly hospitalized with a bad case of Limp Lip, a very rare condition, after Pioneer was upset by LCC in the 2005 sectional final.

It is a mess, but the P/Ps are mostly winning in their original class, not once they bump up.

The ICC is the best small school conference in the state. I was going to say that the Hoosier and Hoosier North can make an argument, but after researching those conferences, they really can't.

Was the kicker talented, or just average? Kinda sounds like a Seahawks Superbowl situation to me.

Yeah, the favorite often seems to come from that Pioneer, Sheridan, LCC semi-state, and often times they've already beaten one of the other named teams on the way, and are battle tested to boot. At one point Seeger was really good and was in that group as well, although that's been a good 15 years. Pioneer kept losing before semi-state due to the combination of the Seeger, LCC, and Sheridan buzzsaw until the Kiser era.

I remember that when I played sports and had a long bus ride, for many it was nap time. Don't forget that it gets dark earlier right now, so sleeping is easier. Does this possibly mean that the long-traveling team actually has an advantage due to extra rest, opposed to the home team, in which the players were probably hanging out with their buddies and teammates before the game?

You'll have to ask the Scecina fans if it was meant to be a racial joke or not. Honestly, I never even remotely thought of it as being a racial joke, but I see it now that's it's been explained to me. I just always took it as a hilariously asinine comment.

That was a classic! A lot of those threads were a lot of fun back then. I remember the 2008 Sheridan/LCC thread being especially rowdy.
