O'Shea's 3-0 when Twin Lakes visits LaRocca. Unfortunately for Twin Lakes, that's when O'Shea was coaching LCC. Lord, I apologize for that there.

2 POINT GAMES Hamilton Heights @ Danville Logansport @ Benton Central Twin Lakes @ Central Catholic West Lafayette @ Rensselaer Western @ Tipton South Newton @ North Newton Carroll @ Delphi South Vermillion @ North Vermillion Park Heritage @ Attica Brebeuf Jesuit @ Guerin Catholic -
At times the D looked really good. Several 3 and outs for the game. Logansport's two offensive scores came on shorter fields and one came after a quick strike pass. With that said, both offensive scores came on fast drives which should be a red flag for a defense. LCC also gave up an early score on a blocked punt returned for a TD. Special teams for LCC were an Achilles heel Friday. Blocked punt for a returned for a TD, extra point bounced off the goal post, and FG blocked. That's a net 11 points worth of pressure taken off of the Logansport offense which help keep them hanging around longer. Yes, the regular punter was out in street clothes for the game, but that blocked punt wasn't on the punter. At least one field goal hold and one extra point hold weren't clean either. Those are going to end up costing a game later in the season if not addressed. Offense was hot and cold. To be fair, LCC was without its top receiver, but in the Ritter game that pitch-catch stat wasn't all that good downfield either. The screens, however, were quite effective ... both in the Ritter game as well as the Logansport game. Running game seemed hit and miss, but more so miss on the guard dives. Off tackle provided more success, but for some reason it wasn't utilized as much. Took LCC a couple of possessions early on in the game to finally settle down. Halftime score was 17 - 7, but likely should have been 24-7 and, but for a blocked punt, 24-0. Logansport did a nice job keeping the Knights to a single score in the second half and that lack of offensive performance put more pressure on LCC's defense. The defense was able to stiffen up and, helped by several Logansport illegal shift calls, kept an upset from happening although Loganport had the ball three different times in the last seven minutes of the game. LCC will be able to ill-afford giving teams like Andrean or Adams Central three possessions in the last 7 minutes of the game with no points to counter those possessions and survive post season. I don't know the possession clock balance, but I would guess that time of possession favored Logansport. In the past that hasn't been an issue for LCC because they've typically used a couple of minutes to score and then let the opponent burn 8 minutes before turning the ball back over to the Knights who would then take another couple of minutes to score again. When the defense spends 8 minutes on the field, the offense has got to make their two minutes on the field count to let the defense have some flexibility before they head back on the field again for another 8-minute stint. In the end, a win is a win and Logansport played a solid game. The Berries could have come out in the second half and laid an egg, but they stayed in it the whole way, even when a late-game interception made it look like the game was done. LCC stiffened up when they had to at the end to preserve the win. I'll chalk LCC's performance up to the fact that they really didn't play a Week 2 game, had their top receiver and punter out, were on the road, and were playing a scrappy 4A team. Former LCC head coach, Kevin O'Shea, and Twin Lakes visits LaRocca next week coming off a 14-7 win over Tipton. O'Shea, even though he's been gone for a while, has seen a variation of this current LCC team before, so hopefully LCC will have tightened up the offense a bit by this weekend.

Let's Do It! Heading on the road to Logansport with one of my sons tonight to watch LCC-Logansport. -
Based on a news article, it's due to multiple injuries and “unfortunate circumstances within the team.” Their roster is around 25 players, but lots are freshmen/sophomores. Injuries certainly could be impactful; especially given the newness of the program as a whole. https://www.wane.com/high-school-sports/blackhawk-christian-cancels-fridays-game-vs-john-glenn/

2024 Hoosier Conference
foxbat replied to CoachDurham's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
They looked good for that quarter, but from what I gathered in that quarter, Ritter wouldn't be the measuring stick. Logansport is a decent 4A team to LCC's 1A/2A team, but not overly strong. They had a good team a couple of years ago, in 2022, but last year they only beat Anderson by a TD and lost to Adams by a point. Nonetheless, being able to hang with a 4A school will be a good starting point for measuring the D. -
2024 Hoosier Conference

Confirming game for LCC comes this week against 4A Logansport. Logansport had been a mid-range player in the NCC, which isn't that telling. LCC's defense looked stout against Ritter although that was only for less than a quarter before the game was called. Nonetheless, when you can hold a team to negative offense yards, excluding penalties, on two successive possessions, it's not a bad place to start. -

Lutheran? They're not even on my 2A Top 10. I kid, I kid. -
After winning their first ever 11-on-11 IHSAA game last week over Irvington Prep Academy, Faith Christian gets a stunning welcome to 1A ball at the hands of Clinton Central 68-0.

Probably to lock down families/players first. Can always cancel, but the longer you go without being definitive, even without everything fully worked out, the more likely you are to lose out on the players/families/support for the game. Also, probably had situations where they had some potential crews/officials that weren't sure if they were doing JV on Saturday or varsity. Not saying that I favor it, but easier at 10:00 pm on Friday to say you have a reschedule date/time, then work to get the details worked out, only to cancel Saturday morning than it is wait until Saturday morning to let your team know that you are playing Saturday afternoon. Probably more chance of success in the former rather than the latter.

Would agree. LCC was two for two scoring on possessions. I think Ritter had one first down and that was due to a PF facemask on the first play from scrimmage. Would not be surprised if Ritter had negative offensive yardage as LCC was in their backfield on every play. LCC had trouble connecting on down and outs and even a couple deeper patterns heading to the sidelines, but they just ate up yards all over the place with the jailbreak/tunnel screen.

LCC and Ritter never made it out of the first quarter. If you look at Harrell's, it's as if they were never scheduled to play, despite the fact that it was 10-0 LCC at the time of postponement. Both of there schedules show no game this week. Ritter probably got the best deal out of that decision. I think LCC only touched their own territory three times, actually three plays, in the first quarter ... their opening kickoff to Ritter, the kickoff after their field goal, and the kickoff after their touchdown.
