  1. Good luck Coach!! I'm very happy for you and wish you the best in your new opportunity!
  2. Jake Gilbert=Ben Davis graduate. I don't think this is an outlandish statement. Coach Gilbert has built a heck of a program.
  3. What is your choice for the best MIC teams of all time? Remember, the MIC started in 1996, so it has to be within the last 25 years, and the teams had to be in the MIC in the year of greatness. That means 2012 LC is out. My top 5 1) 2006 Warren Central 2) 2017 Ben Davis 3) 2018 Warren Central 4) 2001 Ben Davis 5) 2020 Center Grove
  4. FC just scrimmaged Ben Davis last night. Don't know how it went, but I think it says something if Coach West is wanting to scrimmage teams in the MIC.
  5. So, do we now split 6A into 16? So you have 16 teams competing for a title? The line has to be drawn somewhere. So, if we split 6A in half, Center Grove would be in the smaller class of the two. Carmel is 2+x the enrollment of Center Grove.
  6. They gave you a microphone? Oh geez. I may have to rethink my contribution this year. I'm joking DT. Good luck with this.
  7. I think this is a very honest assessment.
  8. There will always be someone at the bottom of each class. It just works out that way. I've worked at Ben Davis and Franklin Central and live in Decatur. I've seen all sides.
  9. Even though you say it in the second to last sentence, this still strikes me as why don't we just make enough trophies for every school and let them all be State Champions.
  10. Dick Dullaghan ran the I formation almost his whole career until he got James Banks. Same with Kirschner. He and staff switched up their offense to more of a passing/running attack with Kyle Castner and all those wideouts he had in the program. Switched it again when Reese Taylor was QB. I think you have to adjust. Don Shula certainly did after he got #13. Great example is Eric Moore. Look at what CG is running now with Tayven Jackson.
  11. He was never a student at BD until his senior year.
  12. All I know is Jayden Brewer had pretty much the best reason I've ever heard to transfer. His mom could no longer transport him due to the increased workload with the pandemic, and the IHSAA gave him limited eligibility for basketball. So the kid has to sit half his senior year because the IHSAA (and Avon) held up that transfer...yet I hear about other transfers. I'm not going to dig into people's business, but it just makes you wonder why some transfers go through slick as a whistle and others don't.
  13. I'm really interested how this happens. How does the IHSAA just allow it? I mean, if they move there...I guess it's ok. But how can this not be for athletic reasons at some level?
  14. I can't say that I precisely agree with you, but this does clarify your point. Thank you.
  15. Ok, I'll play. How do you figure athletic success or lack of it translates into "Public education is dying a slow death."??
  16. In this climate of politics, it's going to be very difficult to add on to school buildings. Requires the referendum, and, while many of those pass, it's a different situation when you're adding on to a school building. Will be interesting to see what happens.
  17. Do students in Whitestown go to Lebanon or to Zionsville?
  18. There was some old school nasty on the BD '91 squad. They were as tough as they were good. They'd pound you. Closest game was at state vs. Penn and I think, if memory serves, they were up 35-0 before Penn scored a couple. It's been 30 years so I may be foggy.
  19. It's possible. Those guys that liked Coach West may move to follow him. I'd think those considering a "move" might want to hedge their bets since Kirsch was the hire to replace West.
  20. I will say this...Center Grove does a lot of things right when it comes to building a culture and has for years. It is kind of a "Texas" type atmosphere when it comes to the community's support for high school athletics and football.
  21. Yes. Sure he can. He's done it with other players. Will he? Remains to be seen.
  22. As a former Franklin Central teacher, I'd love to see it. Franklin Central is supported by a special community, but, unless Center Grove is hit by a ton of injuries, there's no way they are getting out of Sectional anytime soon. Yeah, Coach West is a great football coach and has proved that at both his HC stops, but this is a heavier rebuild, IMO. Wish him well though.
