  1. Center Grove does a great job with their webstream. Also, the MIC Network is great.
  2. I believe BD won quite a few of those. Maybe losing only one. It was definitely BD's highpoint in the rivalry with Warren which has historically been dominated by the Warriors.
  3. Didn't the NCC pretty much purge New Castle or am I not remembering that correctly?
  4. Yeah, I stopped posting. My point was made. I think many agree with me. Sorry for contributing to the hijacking.
  5. Plus, if they dropped them, it would seem to be a two year deal. Home & Away then picking up again after. Just seemed weird.
  6. Sorry! It actually solves a mystery for me because it didn't seem reasonable that BD would drop Warren for one year and pick them up again. I mean, they've played EVERY year since 1937.
  7. OK, that makes sense. And the all in didn't come until 1985.
  8. Not according to our records. That was the 1984 Sectional. In 1983, BD played Warren week 2. 1984-85 8 24 North Central (Indianapolis) L 12 20 North Central (Indianapolis) Dick Dullaghan 0 wins 1 loss Lost 2 (155-266-12) 8 31 Indianapolis Northwest W 8 6 Indianapolis Northwest 1 win 1 loss Won 1 (156-266-12) 9 7 Decatur Central W 28 21 2OT Ben Davis 2 wins 1 loss Won 2 (157-266-12) 9 15 Southport W 26 7 Hoosier Dome 3 wins 1 loss Won 3 (158-266-12) 9 21 Indianapolis Manual W 28 7 Indianapolis Manual 4 wins 1 loss Won 4 (159-266-12) 9 28 Indianapolis Washington L 11 18 Ben Davis 4 wins 2 losses Lost 1 (159-267-12) 10 5 Perry Meridian L 7 13 Ben Davis 4 wins 3 losses Lost 2 (159-268-12) 10 12 Terre Haute South W 27 7 Terre Haute South 5 wins 3 losses Won 1 (160-268-12) 10 19 Carmel L 21 28 Carmel 5 wins 4 losses Lost 1 (160-269-12) 10 24 Warren Central L 8 61 Ben Davis 5 wins 5 losses Lost 2 (160-270-12) 176 188 O.A. 17.6, D.A. 18.8 5 wins 5 losses
  9. Beech Grove is getting some major updates to their facility. That made that job more attractive, I'm sure. Not meaning disrespect here, but there's not much of a path forward at Southport in 6A, IMO.
  10. I don't know if football has taken over the top spot from basketball, but Indiana has become MORE of a football state...especially since the Colts have been good.
  11. I definitely remember seeing that game in the BD/Warren series highlights. That was Coach D's first year at BD. Interestingly, 1984 is the only year Warren and BD did not play in the regular season since 1937.
  12. When Coach D retired, I sat down with him to do a 30 minute interview. After 57 minutes, he had to go. He talked about his career in coaching, and he talked about what brought him to BD. He wanted to get back into high school coaching, and he'd been back from West Point only a few days with Dr. James Mifflin, the principal at BD, contacted him about their coaching opening. Coach D remembered playing BD in 1977 in the Sectional and how they drubbed him. He said he knew that BD was a sleeping Giant. He came, chatted, and secured the job. First two years, he went 8-11. It went much better after that.
  13. Coach D is the best storyteller.
  14. I would never ever discount Kevin. There's a reason why he's a Hall of Famer. He changed the way schools think about weight training. Coach Vanderbush came in with Coach D.
  15. 🤣 Laughable. But ok.
  16. Ok, we get it. You think Dick Dullaghan was a product of where he coached. I'm sure that's why he earned those college coaching jobs with Jim Young at Purdue and at Army. Ben Davis' best year prior to his arrival was an 11-1 run to the Final Four in 1977 and a 7-0-1 campaign in 1950. From 1937-1983, BD had 11 winning seasons...total. The Giants, as a program, didn't go over .500 until 1997. But, yes...it was all enrollment. Anyway, my original point as to why Carmel made the playoffs was not just because they were a wealthy suburb but because they had a great football coach has been made.
  17. My uncle was a farmer and graduated from Noblesville in the 50's. It was also a farm school back then.
  18. My aunt and uncle owned a farm on 146th Street just east of Gray Road. It's now where the Kingsley housing development is and the Grace Church is the other half. Anyway, we used to go up there and see them and there was nothing but farmland for miles. Now, south of 146th St. is Carmel. North is Noblesville. West of Gray Road is Westfield. It's really remarkable how that area has become so different in 50 years.
  19. You might not be aware of this, but Carmel was a different place in 1973.
  20. Dullaghan took over a Carmel program in 1973 that had went 7-13 the previous two years and had them in the State Championship Game in 1975. Took over BD in 1984 and had them in the Championship in 1987.
  21. Makes sense to promote from within. I'm sure Coach Lidy will do a fantastic job at keeping the momentum rolling for the Marauders.
  22. Might have also been Dick Dullaghan was coaching there at that time.
  23. What a great hire for Crown Point. Congratulations to Coach Buzea and the Bulldogs.
  24. Tough question. I think you have to look at changing up the front end of your schedule if you want to compete for a 6A state title. Nothing against Lowell or Andrean...both fine programs. It's a different gear when you're playing any of the MIC teams, HCC teams, or Cathedral.
