    The last time I checked, the Cardinals were members of the Great Lakes Athletics Conference. Most members of that conference are located in Hammond, and of course they’re not playing this year.

    I’m still a little shocked at the chain of events: the Pandemic hits and the world basically ends. We social distance/wear masks/make human sacrifices in addition to canceling all sporting events and shut down our productive economy. Things gradually improve and the rules are abated and we get to where are now. What’s next?

    I’m not making fun, but I was concerned with that since the get-go. There will be a lot of rust to shake off, therefore I anticipate a lot running the ball as opposed to more complex schemes. Good luck from the 219!!!

    I heard this from my son whose good friend goes to Andrean, maybe he was confused. Regardless, covid remains an issue.

    Me, too. I know that Andrean High School has many cases if COVID on their first day of school last week. Lake County also had many cases of it. Stay safe!

    Why was it canceled? If it was due to COVID-19, and my guess it was, having either of those 2 teams play Friday would be most unwise. This thing has way too many moving pieces, although it’s good games are starting to be played, caution still must be exercised.

    No offense taken. I was a Rebel for 6 years (if you include 7th & 8th grade) and never thought about the political implications of our mascot, I was just having fun with my friends. Last night was great. Moved the ball pretty well, I’m just more concerned with defense as SN gave up way too many points last year. Have a great season!

    I don’t know how many times I’ve made the trip (Green Bay, Minocqua, Upper Peninsula), but it’s always worth it. A good friend of mine is on the school board of Kiel High School, the 2019 state runner up for Division 4, which would be the same as 2A here. I would love to see them take on Andrean, Rensselaer, or similar program here.

    South Newton and Benton Central are scrimmaging tonight. It’s good to see both schools fielding teams this year.
