  1. Yanni Karlaftis to announce his decision on Tuesday—Purdue, California, Stanford, and Wisconsin are in the mix. I like Purdue’s chances.
  2. Covid is a disease with many faces. I just pray the medical researchers get their act together and find a vaccine.
  3. I've been playing football all my life: from the Fire yard on First Street in Kentland, to St. Joseph's School, to high school, to college (hold your horses--intramural), to back yard barbecues. Participants have ranged from as few as 4 to as many as 20 per side--always a great time.
  4. Baseball is the court jester. My brother-in-law was a standout for the Vikings back in the day.
  5. I hope you're wrong, too. College football, besides being great entertainment, is a real economic engine. Just like college basketball, which could also be on the chopping block...
  6. Thanks. I wonder why steps haven’t been taken yet. Although some these distances are pretty far like LA-Seattle and Dallas-Seattle, it beats the National Travel like New York-San Francisco, etc. But as I look at my roster, I now realize I left out Carolina and Tampa Bay. Put them in Cosell and the two Texas teams of Dallas and Houston in the Walsh.
  7. The place is awesome! Heading to Wisconsin in a few weeks--can't hardly wait!
  8. I hear the B1G season will be 10 games instead of 9. If all conferences go league only, I guess ND will just play ACC schools... We'd have missed you at Kroll's
  9. Well, the Domers can forget about their trip to Lambeau to face Wisconsin this year.
  10. The NFL my take a page out of MLB's playbook: Rozelle League--Baltimore Ravens, Buffalo Bills, New England Patriots, New York Giants, New York Jets, Philadelphia Eagles, Pittsburgh Steelers, Washington First Nations Cosell League--Atlanta Falcons, Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans, Jacksonville Jaguars, Miami Dolphins, New Orleans Saints, Tennessee Titans Frozen Tundra League--Chicago Bears, Cincinnati Bengals, Cleveland Browns, Detroit Lions, GREEN BAY PACKERS, Indianapolis Colts, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings Walsh League--Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders, Los Angeles Chargers, Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, Seattle Seahawks
  11. Nebraska--Win Rutgers--Win Illinois--Win Indiana--GUARANTEED WIN Northwestern--Win Wisconsin--at Ross-Ade this season, their star RB is gone... Iowa--also in WL, Hawks and Ferentz are in a world of hurt Minnesota--never been sold on the Fleckster Michigan--it's in Ann Arbor and Purdue does not play well there A 6-3 record is definitely possible.
  12. Indeed. Then again, Purdue OOC slate was pretty fierce--Air Force, Memphis (both wet bowling last year) and Boston College--not a FCS cupcake that are mainstays of one of our rival's schedule.
  13. Now it hits home. Per espn.com, there will no non-conference matchups this season.
  14. No apologies are necessary as I'm not sure they do either.
  15. Spot on. It's not like it's the end of days (hopefully), but things aren't right.
  16. Past ridiculous. I'm glad to know you have a handle on the culture of it for some people, and I'm not naming names, do not.
  17. As a loyal Cub fan for many years, I don't like football games at Wrigley. It may have worked when the Bears play there many years ago, but now it's very logistically challenging, if not impossible. Didn't Illinois and Northwestern encounter difficulties a few years ago?
  18. I've always looked up to WLHS and actually went to kindergarten at Cumberland Elementary. Then, for some inexplicable reason, my parents moved to Kentland. I actually know why, but if you don't think I think about the "what ifs" you're sorely mistaken.
  19. Every school has the right to field a team. Winning can be a very hard thing, especially with low numbers (happens with most every small school) and if injuries take its toll. But the thing is to not give up--the wins will come over time.
