  1. Kind of alters our prognostications of the DAC, n’est pas?
  2. Most of those schools have consolidated and the student-athletes are still playing.
  3. Probably is. I'll wave the white flag on this one, but my stance remains the same: making Semi-State is pretty tough...
  4. South Newton has a relatively young team. They'll be good in 2021--book it.
  5. To provide a little more historical accuracy, Eric Watt was the QB. Regardless of outcome, making deep runs in the tourney is a damn good thing.
  6. SN also played in the semi-state a few yesrs back and gave Sheridan all they could handle.
  7. It was a long haul up there. The MWC just got too big, I like the current slate, BUT since expansion domnates these threads... Benton Central--decent hoops school, football no so much Delphi--similar former Hoosier Conference school Central Catholic--geographically desirable, would hopefully elevate the level of play because their teams are so damn good Triton--much like West Central, how much are they enjoying the HNAC? Watseka, IL--their current conference takes up a lot of real estsre, NN, SN, and TC are as close. Even Boone Grove could make a shed of sense.
  8. Although it is fruitless to take any of these wild, borderline inane scenarios seriously, I can debunk one. Newton County is too big geographically for one high school. It would be a logistical nightmare. And as I’ve said time and again, small school athletics are cyclical—sometimes you’re good, other times, not so much. Case in point: the Midwest Conference. I recall SN beating opponents 33-0, only to have lost by that same score a few years prior. Continuing with the MWC, former member Pioneer was not always the force it is now, as Frontier High School was the big deal in the early 1980s before their slide. Things are better in Chalmers now. North Newton also saw a lot of success years ago (although they were not really in the league at the time), but they had some really bad years, but look to be on the upswing. North White won state years ago, but couldn’t maintain it, but again, they’re hanging in there. Lastly, both Tri-County and West Central are both very similar to the Rebels by having both good and bad seasons. This affirms my point, they play for the unrequited love of the game and to represent their school. Case closed. Very true, but it doesn’t support his narrative.
  9. It doesn’t matter who’s on the list or not because it’s a pipe dream at best.
  10. But with that, you’d have to live in Michigan...
  11. 1. Valpo 2. Merrillville 3. Michigan City 4. Chesterton 5. Lowell 6. Andrean 7. LaPorte 8. Morton 9. Crown Point 10. Hobart
  12. I was being somewhat facetious. Some people take this crap way too seriously, but I'll indulge you: 1. Mishawaka: very accessible to South Bend 2. (tie): Glenn, LaVille, New Prairie, and Triton: all pose logistical difficulties Good night and good luck.
  13. His schtick may work in the MAC, but this is the Big Ten, way different.
  14. To expound as well as provide yet another reply to myself, this is huge for Valpo. I just hope Jeff has someone who can take over.
