  1. The bandwagon can be a great thing if you like winners. But if you are a fan of a certain type of offense (spread, ground and pound, etc.)—go with the school that is particularly proficient in said offense. Conversely, if you like defense—3-4, 4-3, nickel, etc., root for the school known for the best defense. Geography could also factor into your decision: if you live in the North side of Indianapolis, you could cheer on a school like Bishop Chatard, North Central, or Pike. Southport or Roncalli on the south, New Palestine or Warren Central on the East, or Avon Ben Davis on the West—have fun!
  2. You, too! All I can say is that whole Covid-19 business is something we have never experienced in our lifetimes. Ever. There are many compelling arguments for football (and the overriding factor of school) to start like it always does, yet many contrary views have also been shared. Tough times we live in: who’s right, who’s wrong?
  3. It sure will. This Covid-19 thing is not, and I repeat not, uniform. It affects people, things, and entities in different ways. Although the recent pandemics of Ebola and SARS were bad, this is a different animal.
  4. No, there’s not. Did we re-open too fast?Did we not take the proper precautions? Is this virus more to it than we think?
  5. Well said! I love football, and will always be for it under the right conditions. But here’s the deal: there’s so much to COVID-19, probably much more than we realize. I’m not an epidemiologist, virologist, or any other kind of ist, just a crappy excuse for an accountant. I just want everybody to be safe.
  6. Dann, I really love your optimism and really hope we get a season in. I just look at the trends and get nervous. We also live in a very litigious society and I think there would be a lot of lawsuits should people get sick.
  7. Who said I was hoping for doomsday? My son’s a senior, I live in Lake County, I know what’s gong on.
  8. Yep, and across the border, Oak Park-River Forest also put the kabosh on.
  9. East Chicago and School City of Hammond (Hammond High, Clark, Gavit, and Morton) suspend athletic events due to COVID-19.
  10. Agreed---the logistics are not ideal. Then again, I didn't say it would be this (even italicized it!) year...
  11. Although it clearly won't be happening this year, I think cross-sectional match-ups across the entire state could be a great idea. You could put Conference Indiana against the Midstate, Hoosier Hills against the SIAC, or even the ultimate test in the Central Indiana pecking order: the MIC facing off against those pesky upstarts from the HCC. I'd also like to see smaller conference represented: Hoosier, Hoosier North, NLC, Pocket, and WRC among others. I know I didn't name many from the southern part of our great state: suggestions, please
  12. Nothing wrong with that. It's always great to see a Goliath slain by a David.
  13. I do remember that game. Although it was unfortunate SN lost, the fight they showed was great.
  14. Coming from a small school, I loved playing the big schools. Sure, in football we would have gotten smashed, but back in jamboree days, my Rebels would go up against Kankakee Valley and Rensselaer.
  15. South Vermillion dwarfs all other members in the WRC, but I think that conference is pretty strong.
  16. Oak Park-River Forest High School in the Chicago suburbs were will also begin this year online.
  17. I hope they do. On another note, schools in Los Angeles and San Diego will begin the year online.
  18. Very unfortunate. These decisions were not arrived at on a whim. It’s hard to do the right thing, or whatever we think right thing is.
  19. Women as ADs? Is there still a will to win? Are there management skills not good? You can say soft (or color coordinated, etc.) as long as you want, but if they get the job done, why the hell not?
  20. One thing with these messsge boards, debate is always constant. Everybody thinks their thinking is the best, everyone else is stupid, and then the personal attacks begin. It’s almost like we’re back in 3rd grade.
