I’m going to take a look at the Hudl video for this game. Are there specific calls that you disagreed with? Or was your rude post simply to express dissatisfaction with the imbalance in the # of flags on each side?

Yes. Penn had good drives the first two times they had the ball, but stalled in the shadow of the goalposts. So, they had to settle for field goal attempts, on which they were 1/2. Never got another sniff. Elkhart never drove the ball. They had a nice punt return that gave them a short field, and they capitalized on it for the only TD of the night. It was enough. Penn had several penalties at critical times to shut down drives.

That’s why I said “generally.”

Penn drives down after the opening kickoff, but stalls on the 5 yd. line, and kicks a field goal. 3-0 at 8:08 of the 1st.

I will say this: You’ve got a really top notch officiating crew tonight. Lots of big game experience.

Same thing for a dead ball foul that occurs after the TD but before the ball is ready for play on the try.

There is no “offside” in high school football. There’s encroachment, but it’s a dead ball foul. But, generally speaking, in high school football if the opponent of the scoring team fouls on a play that scores a TD, the score stands and the penalty for the foul can be enforced either on the try or the succeeding kickoff.

That is the correct enforcement. If the opponent fouls during a play in which a TD is scored, the offended team has the option of having the DPI enforced either on the try or the succeeding kickoff.

I will be at Freed for this one. Surprised there hasn’t been more chatter about it. Really looking forward to it, as I have a ton of great memories of games there.

I was at the Louisville game. Both played many meaningful snaps and acquitted themselves well. Bowen is going to be very good.

That play brings back memories. When I was a sophomore at St. Ed’s playing scout team QB, I drew that one up in the huddle, and we ran it for a TD against the varsity. After practice 2 senior defensive linemen stuffed me in a trash can … upside down.
