  1. All 6 of the crews working this year’s State Finals are crew members of the Indiana Football Officials Association. That is by no means an accident.
  2. The only reason it is not used in the Finals is that, for TV scheduling reasons, they don’t want a game to end early. Has nothing to do with competitiveness.
  3. This thread is intended to embrace all things officiating related to the Finals. Among the more obvious topics are: Any special rules or procedures in effect for the Finals. Questions or observations on rules or situations that may come into play, based on the teams involved, their tendencies, style of play, etc. In-game, post-game, or between game questions about rules, a specific play, etc. Observations by officials in-game, pointing out things that non-officials might not notice, or be aware of. I’ll be in the pressbox or on the field most of the weekend, and will post from there. Fans, here’s your chance for live action venting about officiating issues that arise, or have arisen with your team in the past.
  4. Visitors wear white. Home team dark. No choices.
  5. I think you’re missing it. As I read your post, you don’t object to the concept of the SF. Rather, it’s the definition of “success” that you find “beyond stupid.” Am I reading that correctly?
  6. both … and
  7. You will note that, at the end of the game, the Referee will hold the ball over his head. When he does that, the game is over. The officials retain jurisdiction to perform certain administrative responsibilities, and can even retroactively disqualify a player or coach, if warranted. But they can’t reverse a no-call, come back out on the field, and play another down.
  8. I don’t see either team sustaining multiple long drives. Both teams have legitimate home run hitters, however.
  9. How do you think Ben Davis will do against Crown Point?
  10. I saw both of these teams up close and personal in the last two weeks. I think they are very evenly matched. Likely the 5A game will be the best of the weekend … again.
  11. I’ve always thought he belonged in the NFL. Guy has won everywhere he’s been, including the NFL. I don’t know why he puts up with all this BS.
  12. Repeat after me: “N-F-L”
  13. That has now made the Final Four in Ohio Div. 1.
  14. Munster first competed in varsity football in 1966. They are on their 3rd head football coach.
  15. Forgot to mention, there was a @maroonman sighting at the game!
  16. Likewise, the officials would not have the benefit of your advice.
  17. I’m sure it’s purely a coincidence that a position coach is found to have destroyed potential evidence and Michigan immediately does a 180 in their litigation position.
  18. Just wondering. The people on the GID, it seems to me, are more likely than the average fan to attend in-person as opposed to enjoying the game in the comforts of their home via some broadcast medium. I’d like to informally test that hypothesis. Who’s going out tonight vs. staying home to watch? Your thoughts on the issue? For what it’s worth, I’ll be at Decatur Central tonight.
  19. You’ve never had my smoked brisket.
  20. So much for the fleeting feeling of empathy I had for your position. 😂🤣
  21. Goshen HFC job now open.
  22. Goshen is now open.
  23. To elaborate, there are going to be at least 3 jobs open in the NFL that would open up the checkbook for him: Bears, Raiders, Chargers. And he wouldn’t have to deal with that pesky NCAA or B1G. He’s going to take a page from Pete Carroll’s playbook.
