Unimpressive and weakling?  Are you in the Twilight Zone?  I know nothing compares to the Leprechaun's Panthers, but holy cripes!  🙂

C'mon Robert, really? You come across as educated. You couldn't sense the sarcasm there? Dwenger has an outstanding team, as does Homestead.

Concordia exposed a few weakness' in snider armor this past friday...they moved up a few spots in the poll this week..i hope the state ranking won't be the only high point of their season.. they have some work to do..these Panthers seem to have a small ship on their shoulder..how they respond when someone knocks it off will decide their fate..

Four major weaknesses to be exact. Snider knows what they are and will most certainly work on them. Get better or finish 3rd in the SAC.

I recall a couple of times going there on 30 from I 65 and the traffic is ridiculous

With school corp strapped for money with caps they would have to find money to subsidize the operation

If the time change was not there then that might make it more attractive

Unfortunately the State of Indiana somehow believes that an Interstate Highway between Indianapolis and Evansville is more important than an interstate between Fort Wayne and Chicago.....................now you can get out of Indianapolis via interstate to the N, NE, E, SE, S, SW, W, & NW. In the meantime, US 30 from FW to Chicago is an ABSOLUTE nightmare.................and dangerous!

@DT and I have continuously smacked heads on this one. There has never been any legitimate thought of Warsaw joining the SAC. Never. Yes, Warsaw is the "big fish" in the NLC size wise. However, they have always received great competition in ALL sports in the NLC. Not a single school dominates across the board in all sports, men's and women's. Warsaw, Northridge, Concord and NorthWood all compete in just about every sport, while Plymouth, Goshen and Wawasee have their spots of competition. Adding Mishawaka will do nothing but enhance the football competition for Warsaw, while providing increased competition across the board. Warsaw to the SAC will never happen and was never a serious possibility in the slightest.

I would agree that there has never been a "legitimate" discussion. After losing Harding and Elmhurst..............which created some very interesting out of conference match-ups that I miss...............the SAC immediately had their sights set on Homestead and Carroll. It made the most sense. Huntington and Warsaw was just an opinion, a back option, an idea that someone from the media suggested...............nothing more, nothing less. In the end, the SAC got what they wanted..............Homestead and Carroll.

  5. Arguably the marquee game in the state this week.

Dwenger is just as good today as they were when the season started. Homestead might be better than what I felt was an already good team to start the season. I can't pick against Homestead as well as they are playing on both sides of the ball. I can't pick against Dwenger in what is sure to be a raucous home environment. I guess I'm just not going to pick. The outcome will be determined on the field.

I think Avin has proven they are the top team in 6A.

    Agree.

I may be a Warren fan I'll admit when I think we are ranked too high.

    Disagree.

I would watch Out for Jeff this year. They have somthing special going on up there.

    Agree.

  7. I'm torn. The opponents so far, for the most part, are teams that these three teams faces last year and won. I'm looking forward to seeing how they do against some of the teams that beat them last year.

I guess I'll go with Merrillville. I would like to see 3-0 turn into 6-0 turn into 9-0. Now that would be good for 6a northern football. They just make the tournament more exciting when they are playing well. I still have memories of the 1992 game in Fort Wayne against Snider. Snider won 14-7 in a game that was VERY competitive and could have gone either way. Snider went on to defeat Ben Davis.

The two teams that crushed them this year Luers beat both last year. Go stir your ridiculous crap somewhere else.

Seriously? That's kinda harsh. This is actually a good topic.

    7 hours ago, DT said:

That would give the SAC the opportunity to schedule OOC games, which many of the schools apparently would like to do.

If Luers and Concordia were to leave, the SAC would go after Huntington North and someone else. The ease of scheduling with a 10 team conference will trump the exciting out-of-conference match-ups.

If anyone would want to leave the SAC, it would be Northrop, Wayne, North Side, or South Side.

Agree. Concordia and Luers have had more success than those 4. But they could still make a case for leaving based on enrollment.

Conclusion: Luers is having a bad year. They beat both Homestead and Carroll last year. Both the Spartans and the Chargers have really good teams this year, but I'm not sold that those two programs are built for year in year out dominance like Snider and Dwenger. So yeah, I think Luers will be back and will beat those two schools again. Regardless of Luers size, there has been many years where they had more talent then the likes of Snider and the other larger schools.

  9. Homestead's student section will fill up the entire bleachers. Needless to say extra bleachers will brought in. I will be on the Dwenger side...............lots of Dwenger fans will be standing I'm sure.

I don't see homestead dropping a game in the sac unless they don't show up. That defense is very good and finally complements their offense.

I too like Homestead as the front runner right now. But if they lose a game it's because the other team was better............won't have anything to do with them not "showing up." As I said in many posts this year. Dwenger, Homestead, Carroll, and Snider are all good. Although I'm predicting the Spartans to run the table, I wouldn't be shocked if they finish the year 6-4...................competition will be fierce.

Agree, beat the Chargers? Please, Carroll played well against Snider but it also exposed Snider. Concordia took advantage of that but lacks the depth to really do anything. Dwenger and Homestead will be a Epic battle. I think Sparty takes this one.

Don't go to sleep on Carroll, it will result in a loss. Trust me.

  11. 7 hours ago, psaboy said:

Well, we will find out if Sparty is for real in these 2 weeks with Saints and Panthers in week 4 & 5. They can pretty much win conference with a W both weeks, but it will not happen. They will lose 1 of the 2 at the least or both. I'm not sold yet. If they win both, then they also have to beat Chargers. Will see, season still early.

My prediction is that they win both.

The Irish coach, Bill Peebles, has had a year to work with the team.  This in my opinion is the biggest difference.  Also the attitude seems to be more "old school" than it was in the last couple of years.  The offense is a lot more sophisticated and the defense seems to be more intense.  Also the Irish are playing a lot of sophomores and juniors this season, and they seem to be able to help out quite well.

Should be a good one next week!  I can't wait to see Arlington once more.

Thanks for the answer. I do think the Irish will be a tough out this year, but i think they are going to have some competition along the way.

Yes of  course any one of those teams can beat cathedral, i agree. But no team in the state is for sure known as being "better" than cathedral.

That's pretty much all I was trying to say. I simply stated that some 6A teams "could", not "would" beat them. And I said some 5A teams "can" play with them.  I didn't realize that by implying the Irish were beatable that there would be an all out assault on my post....................geeeeesh. I'm sorry to anyone I offended. I recant my statement. No one has a chance against the Irish.

But tell me this. What makes this years team any different from last years team? They've done a great job this year against the Cincinnati schools, I get it. But they did well last year too..........................then lost to Brownsburg by two scores, lost to Chatard, got blown out by Center Grove, then lost to Decatur Central.
