  1. Screw that. Next man up.
  2. It would be wise for the best quarterbacks in the country to start choosing mid-major schools where they know they'll get an opportunity to showcase themselves. How do these quarterbacks develope if they don't get an opportunity to play? If Notre Dame brings in another transfer, I'm out the door if I'm Angeli or Carr. Good for Jackson for getting the hell out of there. Loyalty is dead! My respect for Dabo grows by the day.
  3. Well said!
  4. Agree on all accounts. Hell, you even have defenders celebrating after giving up 5-8 yards on a 1st down play. Pretty comical if you ask me. Sure, you made the tackle. But you're team just gave up 8 yards you idiot. As a youth in sports, I was the cockiest person the field. That was fun to me, think Larry Bird on steroids. But I was gracious in victory, consoling the other player, and certainly gracious in defeat..........shaking their hand and telling them "job well done." I've never been a believer in beating someone down after they've already been beaten. Now that being said, I get that some rilvaries are off the charts and emotions get in the way. It's hard to pass judgement on the Michigan kid in a situation like that, although I'd never do something like that myself. If there's going to be a change, it has to come from the very top, and I'm not talking about head coaches. I think we know that 1/3 of coaches wouldn't allow it on thier team, 1/3 are oblivious and will take action after it happens, and 1/3 probably just don't care.
  5. Agree, it just depends on the coach. Some coaches put the integrity of their program over that of state titles, some don't. I think there's a little more pressure on the college coaches whose victories are an important piece of the puzzle when retaining their multi million dollar lifestyle.
  6. Well yeah, that's kind of a given I think. Of course some coaches are better at it than others. Fine the coach for the actions of their players. They'll need a set of rules to go by though. Start with no flag planting? I think it gets pretty complicated. Nowhere in the rule book will you find "no cigar lighting" (did the players actually do that?) and playing the other team's music. I'm good with "no flag planting" for now. Hit the head coach with a $100,000 fine and suspend the player who did it for three games. That should get the message across.
  7. Where do you draw the line though? I like doing away with the flag planting though. That can be really dangerous when you have a bunch of guys who are 6'2", 240 lbs rumbling in the middle of the field and putting bystanders with no equipment in the middle trying to break up the fight. I remember when Michigan State did that to Notre Dame, I thought it was the ultimate in disrespect. And kind of funny at the same time, watching MSU's desperation in trying to create a rivalry with the Irish. The worse though is in high school when your team loses and you're already feeling dejected, only to walk away at the sound of "nah nah nah, nah, hey hey hey, goodbye." Damn, that sucks.
  8. Probably. That's easy for an Irish fan to say, being that ND would have been part of that field this season. It's fun watching several games that matter though. Players don't opt out of the playoffs. That being said, I guess I'll take 12 over 4.

Although these home atmospheres are utterly incredible, I'm wondering if they do away with home field advantage all together. Neutral sites from beginning to end.

This guy is REALLY looking like a fool now. I guess SMU, Tennessee, and Clemson weren't deserving either. Bottom line? You better be the one hosting the college playoff game.
  11. As a sophomore, Walker lost to Marcus Allen, then beat out John Elway and Eric Dickerson his junior year. Not sure what the problem is. Bo Jackson won in 1985, didn't even finish in the Top 10 before that. Are you sure he was deserving as an underclassman?
  12. Again, I can't speak of 1956. I wasn't there to see it in person. But I have no respect for a guy that is a serial abuser of women, sorry.

I thought I heard 30, maybe 13 is correct. My point about the Ball State/James Madison comparison was in reference to the caliber of athlete Cignetti was working with. I really have no idea who'd win in a game between the two programs.

What qualifies him as a clown? Now, the Indy Star writer? That guys a clown, it's pretty obvious. But what actually qualifies Cignetti as a clown? I see a guy who's won everywhere he's been and is paid mulit millions as a result. I just don't see colorful outfits, baggy pants, and a red nose. Cignetti knew that HE could win 10 games with IU's schedule, but that doesn't mean Allen or any other coach would have. Says something about the confidence he has in his system.

That's all we're asking. I know you don't like the guy because of his cockiness and arrogance, but you can't deny the fact that he can coach. Sure, he lost to two teams that are top five in the country, but he obliterated the rest of his schedule in impressive fassion.
  16. Let's go back to that "character" thing that was being discussed earlier. I'm glad Brown didn't win it. Now, strictly speaking of football? Tough question since I wasn't on earth in 1956. I do know that there was another running back that finished ahead of Brown in the voting who averaged 7.2 yards per carry versus Brown's 6.2. Also, Hornung did everything. He was a quarterback, a running back, a receiver, a punter, a kick returner, and a punt returner. Maybe that had something to do with it? It's not like there wasn't other qualified candidates that year.

Question. If the IU football program were a publicly traded stock, would you buy long or sell short? Let's pretend there was no other place to go with your money. Let's say $500,000. There's no other answer other than long or short.

Damn Temp, the man is in his FIRST year at................IU. With what, thirty transfers from James Madison? You know, guys who go to James Madison are guys who didn't get recruited by Ball State, right?
  19. I guess the bigger question is, why are you so obsessed with it? You're placing NEI on a pedistal it appears, calling them out as a benchmark. Everyone is vying for second best, and it's certainly not SWI...........not even close. NWI could make a case though.

The guy who wrote that is a circus clown.............on a good day. I couldn't take his ignorance anymore, had to quit reading half way through.

The last thing this man has is an inferiority complex. I'm not sure there's a name for what he has. He said " I win, google me." Damn. Now, even he knows he'll look pretty stupid if he doesn't back that up. So to say something like that, your confidence has to be on another level. And when you're confident, you're normally successful. Ten win seasons at IU will soon be the standard.

I'll say it again Temp. What he did with a bunch of kids from JM and the leftovers from the train wreck that Allen left was nothing less than greatness. Deep down, you know this man is dangerous.

    ?????
  24. I presumed that. I just don't know enough about the players back in 1956 to form an educated opinion.
