  1. You still didn't answer the question. I'm trying to follow your math. Why 7 classes? in 2020 there were 32 + 33 + 62 + 64 + 64 + 64 in classes 6A - 1A, respectively. If you create a 7th class, what do you do with the remaining teams?
  2. 7A? There is no need for a 7th class. There are currently 32 schools in 6A and 33 in 5A. So you move 24 to a 7A. Are you proposing a 6A of 8 schools?
  3. I get your point. I'm gonna use a bad word though... seed it. The problem with seeding at lower levels are two-fold. 1. Geography 2. Conference imbalance. Those aren't an issue with the 24 schools you mentioned. Using some southern Indiana teams I'm familiar with - it would be tough to seed a 8-1 Reitz (SIAC) and 8-1 Jasper (Big 8 ) in 2014. In a condensed 6A, there is enough head-to-head to make seeding possible, IMO.
  4. I understood your point. I was making an attempt at humor - which Lysander picked up on. If you are like me and have both Protestant and Catholic sides of the family, the Catholic/Christian discussion can turn interesting at times. A wedding, baptism, confirmation, etc. can turn into the English War for Reformation if you're not careful.
  5. I'm not asking you to apologize, nor should you. I never said you were given an advantage. But WeBo was able to remain in the same class despite winning back to back state championships. Other schools have been bumped up for less, see 2013-14 Scecina for example. My problem is with rule, which did benefit Western Boone. If sophomores play up a classification their HS career due to things prior to their first varsity snaps? Well, that's the rule. "Your team could have done the same thing." You are absolutely 100% correct.
  6. How ironic someone from WeBo would be worried about staying up a class for 3 years after they just took advantage of the SF 2 year reset of points. My hope is that IHSAA goes to a rolling 2 year or longer, but definitely rolling point total.
  7. But is Ritter a Christian school? (For a good time, bring up the "Are Catholics Christian?" question at your in-laws over dinner.) 😄
  8. That should be enough info for most people to figure it out. LOL I would assume Central's annual searching for a new head coach will be done for awhile after his hire.
  9. I didn’t realize Sectional 22 was only 7 teams. WeBo to 28. Chatard to 22 is my prediction
  10. So WeBo will most likely take Chatard’s spot in the 3A sectional. And of course Chatard will move to Roncalli’s sectional. I’m curious who will get shuffled to 24
  11. Out of curiosity - do all PAC teams have an Endzone camera? I could see smaller programs like FP, PC, Tell City, and Tecumseh (semi-PAC team) using their funds on other equipment as opposed to an EZ cam. (Sorry @Tanka Jahari - some schools view it as a luxury item. LOL)
  12. At first I thought it was a play on the fact that the SIAC is now a "closed" conference and a bubble at least in regards to Sagarin/Computer rankings. But then I fell for it until I read the rest of the thread. Well done.
  13. I clearly state I have no inside information, and then you gotta tease us like that. 😃
  14. When is the next school board meeting? I keep expecting an announcement about Central's coach but it has been quiet. And no, I have no information on this, I'm just really curious. Not very often does the defending conference champ make a change at HC, but Central will be doing it for the 3rd time in 4 years.
  15. I hear that’s all the rage nowadays. 😂
  16. Isn't the "stay up" now only 2 points? (Thanks, Cathedral)
  17. This is a football message board. So it comes as no surprise to me that there is a bias against travel sports, because it's always football that loses out. Like clockwork, every mid to late June I anticipate a week where our QB can't throw because he pitched 14 innings between Friday-Sunday the weekend before. This has happened with multiple QBs over multiple years, so it wasn't a one-time occurrence. As soon as HS baseball season ends, they join their respective travel teams where the coach is more concerned with how many trophies he can post on social media to recruit the next group than the longevity of the player's arm. Would you expect someone to say "That $1,200 we spent on our club volleyball team last summer was a waste of money"? My co-worker told me the first part, but then her daughter got cut from the HS volleyball team. So I interpreted the last part, but that might be presumptuous of me.
  18. My favorite was a local SW Indiana team won a "National Championship" game by beating a team from the across the river in Kentucky. Sorry, but winning a tournament featuring teams that are all from less than a 2.5 hour drive hardly constitutes a national championship. But they got some really cool Cracker Jack rings.
  19. No playoffs. Illinois is a six game schedule only - most teams are staying in the their local region. They might have to play within a designated group of counties as well. That was proposed but I'm not sure if it was the final rule.
  20. Definitely agree with this. I can't comment on the male/female split because I don't know for sure and haven't looked at the data. I can agree that I have seen the growth of the "lay coach" assistant in the SIAC. Many assistants work elsewhere - whether it be a different school or outside education completely.
  21. While we are on the topic of HS OT, can a team be awarded a first down by penalty? For example, Team A lines up to kick an OT FG, but a Team B player roughs the kicker/holder. Does half the distance and automatic first down for team A still apply? @Impartial_Observer @Bobref
  22. If you asked me 4-5 years ago (could have been more, my mind is getting old) when the automatic first down for DPI was eliminated, I anticipated a ton of those calls inside the 10. I assumed most DB's would take advantage and be extra aggressive. It really hasn't happened IMO. There's the occasional penalty - correctly called and assessed half the distance, but I really don't think it has changed the game.
  23. Somehow Illinois not only determines who qualifies for the playoffs, but they also divide the 256 teams into 8 classes and seed the teams.... all in one weekend. Yet Indiana can't figure out how to classify teams every two years. Mind boggling.
  24. Reporter: Coach, what do you think of your team's execution? John McKay: I'm in favor of it.
  25. When I doubt, I generally look at the coaching rosters and player selections both.
