  1. I just hope it’s not a preview of Week One of Sectionals.
  2. “Fraud” being the operative word. With which IMG and ESPN are willing participants. Clearly IMG knew from the year prior what was going on…..and ESPN must have intentionally been averting their eyes.
  3. I understand your thinking and respect it.......and I don't get too hung up about rankings outside of the analytic rankings. My feeling about Chatard is about the same as it has been. They are a solid, solid group but have the misfortune of following a couple of teams that likely rank amongst some of the best Chatard teams (especially the 2019 group). They are a bit undersized vs traditional teams. Additionally, for whatever reason, they are also not seeming to be able to convert extra points or field goals...which is, hopefully, fixable. With all that, they are playing an even more challenging early schedule than these prior teams. I think upcoming Roncalli is a Top 10 All Classes group....and they are HUGE. Upcoming Cathedral last year essentially proved that the only team in all of Indiana or Ohio that was better than they were was Center Grove....and that game was lost in the final seconds. I expect them to again be at that level this year- No. 1 or No. 2 in all of Indiana. Warren Central remains to be seen but I think its quite likely they end up a Top 10 Team...especially with Kirschner at the helm. Brebeuf, by all rights appears to be legit....add that Chatard had 4 turnovers that game and, I believe, only 1 extra point on 3 TDs...still Brebeuf is for real by all appearances...I think they are damn good. In the Warren Central game, once again, I think Chatard only had 1 extra point conversion on 4 TDs. Otherwise, its a 28-36 game with Chatard having the ball in the last minute of the game (final score actually ending up 36-25). It remains to be seen just how Chatard fares playing Roncalli and Cathedral and that will tell me a lot more. But here is the question I'm asking myself following the Warren Central game (it's not a question I would have asked prior). Other than Roncalli, could any of the teams listed above prevent Warren Central from putting them on the wrong side of a running clock....let alone actually lead Warren a good part of the game?
  4. I’m hard pressed to say who is No. 1-3 specifically but I think your Top 3 ARE the top 3. Random thoughts. GIbson Southern’s big win over Columbus North looms larger to me with North’s win over Columbus East. I originally considered West Lafayette’s opening win over Lafayette Jeff significant but now am not so sure after Jeff’s last effort. Brebeuf is solid and their two wins seem strengthened even more in light of Chatard’s competitive game against Warren Central (as well as their dominating win v. New Pal). One other thought regarding the upcoming Culver Academy game v. Brebeuf. They always seem to inexplicably play tough v. Brebeuf. I generally have Brebeuf a +21 favorite in those games and they are seldom more than a 3-10 point spread. 3A could really be interesting…..again.
  5. Good point. Not sure ESPN cared.
  6. Saw that game listed and honestly couldn’t figure out why IMG was playing an Ohio HS that I had never heard of. Still, as big of an embarrassment as it was (or should be) for ESPN (which I’m fine with), just what does it say about IMG’s difficulty in scheduling opponents that they have to stoop to this?
  7. Quite often these games never quite go down the way anyone predicts but I have to think Cathedral will use this game as an opportunity to work on those aspects of their game that they think may be in need of a tune up. Add, as was said above by FK16, it should offer an opportunity for backups to get some live reps. The final score and pace of the game is going to be whatever Cathedral wants it to be.
  8. Same from me. Nice to see you here Muledriver.
  9. I’d differ a bit with your phrase “a few great classes”. Prior to this year, New Pal had lost only 6 games in 8 years, won 4 Semi-States (played in 5) and 3 State Championships. When they did lose last year to Whiteland in Sectional and Columbus East in Semi-State in 2013 (maybe ‘14), they lost to two teams that were Top 10 Teams All Classes by most any quantitative measure. I might not differ with your underlying point but I wouldn’t consider New Pal the classic example. They’ve quite literally been on a decade long run that, for the most part, is almost unmatched. I’m certainly not writing any eulogy for New Pal any time soon (add that I think if they were back in 4A they would be facing a beastly Roncalli team this year….don’t know about next). I will admit that Brebeuf (whom I’ve watched twice) has a superior defense but a lot of the damage that was done New Pal Friday was entirely self-inflicted…..and entirely fixable.
  10. I was thinking along those same lines.
  11. Are you there? I couldn’t find anything on line regarding this?
  12. Brebeuf. 38 New Pal 14
  13. Yeah. Thinking that could be a battle. Last I saw Danville was losing. Still, Sectional 28 with WL is tough. Brebeuf. 38 New Pal. 7 More personal fouls by New Pal. Don’t know if they’re declining but do seem to lack discipline. Brebeuf total domination.
  14. Brebeuf. 31 New Pal. 7 Brebeuf dominating. Think I’m looking at 3A No. 1….or a reasonable facsimile thereof.
  15. WC. 36 Chatard 25
  16. Chatard 25 WC. 29 No quit in the Trojans. Can’t seem to convert extra points, though.
  17. WC. 29 Chatard. 19 (so I am told) Brebeuf. 24 New Pal 7 3rd Q Lots of dumb penalties by New Pal
  18. WC 23 Chatard 19 Brebeuf. 17 New Pal 7 50 yd field goal with under 10 seconds in 2nd
  19. Chatard 19 WC. 16
  20. They looked good last week and pretty good tonight. They had a nice goal line stand midway through the 2nd Q in this game. I think they are solid. They generally have some excellent top end talent but lack depth.
  21. Yeah…I’m not there. Getting texts so I don’t know what happened. That was about 5 minutes left in 2nd.
  22. WC. 16 Chatard. 13
  23. Chatard 13 WC. 0 Brebeuf. 14 New Pal 7
