The State restrictions on crowd size have been lifted if there is a written plan in place for the gathering. I'm not sure if Marion County is still under restrictions. I agree, should probably check with the schools involved.

    I don’t know.

As boosters we’ve had season tickets for every sport so our tickets are reserved but, to my knowledge, there are still no gate sales of tickets.  I’d strongly suggest anyone interested reach out to each of the school’s athletic departments.

No but since you brought up comebacks I'm obliged as a CG fan to mention the 2008 5A state championship game where CG trailed Carmel by 19 with 6:15 left in the game and came back to win.

Amazing game.  I almost turned it off not being even a distant fan of Carmel.

I’ve been a CG fan ever since.

I'm very surprised at the number of posters speculating that either team wouldn't do v everything in their power to win a game.

Read every post over the last 4-6 weeks regarding this game.  Pretty much everybody on both sides is ambivalent.

Do some of you only read the GID annually?

I’m only repeating what has been said.....err....repeatedly.

I admit to being equally incredulous.

I call BS about Center Grove OR Cathedral not caring about that week 9 game.  Maybe their fans don't care but you can bet your sweet potato that the teams do.  And Center Grove and Cathedral should get their blue rings.  Unless someone in either of their classes pull off a major upset.

Dunno....all the folks here seem ambivalent about that game.  I think a few of them are likely a little credible.

I get everything you're saying.  I'm riding the Indiana bandwagon.  Anything to promote Indiana high school football.  Wasn't that the main reason that Tim started this website?  So I don't care who it is exactly or where they are ranked.  It's all about  beating those guys across the state line, right?  But Cathedral is #1 in 5A.  That week 9 game will tell us who's top dog in the state and we won't have to speculate or depend on polls.

Honestly really have no idea what you are saying.  I just pointed out the polls and their differences. Pity that you don’t care about analytical ranks...

I’m not riding anybody’s bandwagon.  I could care less.

From what I’ve seen so far previously on the GID is that BOTH Cathedral and Center Grove don’t really care about their late season game and will sit on their hands in that game.

We really won’t know who is No. 1.....based on most of the comments I’ve seen heretofore.

Its all about the Blue Rings....so everyone repeats endlessly.

To be clear, Brownsburg, Cathedral and Center Grove (separated solely by alphabet) likely have some gap between the current No. 4 (Chatard) and it remains to be seen who ends up 6A champ between CG and Brownsburg.

Aren't they #1 in 5A?  Whenever they have these interstate games, they usually use the class rankings of the teams.  Cathedral is #1 in 5A but according to Sagarin, they are #2 overall in the state.

    Here’s the deal.

Sagarin only counts In-State Games.  Out of state games are a black hole as far as Sagarin.

MaxPreps/CalPreps calculates ranking inclusive of in and out of state games.

I’m a huge Sagarin fan but for teams who play out of state games Sagarin has historically chronically underrated them (or simply not been able to rate them).  Despite my leanings towards Sagarin the lack of inclusion of out of state games is problematic.

Sagarin has the Top 5 currently as:

    1. Center Grove (6A)

    2. Cathedral (5A)

    3. Brownsburg (6A)

    4. Chatard (3A)

    5. North Central (6A)

MaxPreps/CalPreps  has the Top 5 currently as:

    1. Cathedral (5A)

    2. Center Grove (6A)

    3. Brownsburg (6A)

    4. Chatard (3A)

    5. North Central (6A)

I’m likely the last guy here riding the Cathedral bandwagon but Sagarin takes NO consideration of their win against St. X Cincy (which is a bit significant).  Sagarin takes NO consideration of the fact Brownsburg beat St. X as well.

Right now, I think the Big 3 are Brownsburg, Cathedral and Center Grove (in alphabetical order).  Both polls agree...just a matter of whether it’s Cathedral or Center Grove that’s #1.

    My Predictions

    6A:  Merrillville vs. Center Grove

    5A:  Valparaiso vs. Cathedral

    4A:  Hobart vs. Mooresville

    3A:  Chatard vs. Lawrenceburg

    2A:  Andrean vs. Triton Central

    1A:  South Adams vs. Lutheran

Good catch on Lawrenceburg.  Great shot at coming out of the South.

4A South is a tough call.  I like Mooresville, Mt. Vernon and East Central.  The East Central/Mooresville game at Mooresville last year was a battle.  Truly believe folks chronically overlook East Central (usually to their own detriment) because Southeast Indiana may as well be on the moon as far as the rest of the state is concerned.

Ted Cruz is a whack job.

Every time I hear someone make dire predictions about what the court is going to be like if nominee X gets confirmed, I think about Earl Warren. One of the greatest and most influential CJs of all time, the leader of the coalition that pushed the court in the opposite direction Eisenhower — who appointed him — anticipated.

Eisenhower was quoted as saying of his time as President: “I made two mistakes and both of them are sitting on the Supreme Court. [Referring to Earl Warren and William Brennan]”

    Souter.

Republicans only get what they expect about 50% of the time.

Not sure if Cruz is a whack job or not outside of his facial hair decision.  Bad call on his part.

Correct. The 1961 Reitz team did not allow a single point. They outscored their opponents 368-0. They only allowed an average of 72 yards per game. They were led by FB/LB Don Hansen, who played along with Butkus at UofI and played 11 seasons in the NFL. In week 8, they played unbeaten Memorial, which people called the game of the century. Apparently there was 14,000 stacked in The Bowl. Reitz obviously shut them out and won 33-0. However, I know there are people who still say that the 1960 Reitz team (allowed 15 points) was better due to more size and speed. Those teams will live on forever in southern Indiana, and especially on the west side of Evansville. However, being realistic, are those teams even better than the '07 and '09 Reitz teams? And especially any of the post-2000 BD, WC, CG teams? Hard to say. Talent, physicality, coaching, playbooks, rules, etc. are just so different and more advanced now.

    AWESOME STUFF!  Thanks.
