Indiana is The Land of the Snowflakes

It was hot as Hell in Florida....hated coming back....may not after February.

So the snow plows were out?

BTW, I listened to a great story about Mark Martin and Rusty Wallace hauling an Ed Howe chassis together down from Beaverton, Michigan and  having to hole up in some hotel in Indiana that Winter of ‘78....I was out (somehow) running 7-10 miles per day during that time....ultimately it ended up paying for college.

If they called it right they holed up in the Gary combination nude strip joint/no-tell hotel I stumbled upon some years later.

My guess is they were not so fortunate...

Maybe it's a habit I've picked up working in the Middle East over the past four years, especially in communications -- toe the company line, express personal opinions through the proper channels and at the right time (although in this case I agree with the Illuminati).

Your definition of quality guy is different than mine then.

That’s your problem....now that he very gracefully left despite being err....”followed”....yet you are still somehow here despite that.

Wow....just wow....apparently the Admins are down with it.

I have many friends here that are without any doubt ABSOLUTELY quality people despite the fact I deeply disagree with them...Gonzo, Foxbat...maybe Irishman these days....unclear to me.  Doesn’t matter...free country.  I would never wish any of them them ill or evenly distantly doubt their quality as people.

Hell, I don’t know squat about Muda outside of the GID but I know he is damned principled and ABSOLUTELY consistent...which tells me something about his quality of character.  In the end, much like TD, I probably agree with him 75% (maybe more) of the time....though it took TD and me some years to realize it.  Still looking forward to arguing with Muda, btw....if this forum survives.

Fighting with him seems inherently natural to me.  Wouldn’t mind meeting him some day....doesn’t mean we’d like each other....I’m no pushover.

For you “youngsters”,  I wish you could see the multi page arguments over the last 14 years Muda and I have had (let alone the arguments Trojan Dad and Muda have had).

TD was an absolutely straight up quality guy.  His creed was God, Family, America, Center Grove and the MIC.  He’d fight you every step if he disagreed with you but he was a true believer.  Part of the reason he left (and the admins know the others) was that he was going to end up spending more time with his church (clearly unlike me).

    Damn good man.

Honestly, I wish I could be as high a quality guy as Trojan Dad.

If he, somehow, needs to leave perhaps I do, somehow, as well.

  4. I’ve joined all the new clubs (Gonzo’s too....I think....I tried, anyway).

Not sure I’ll ever post anything...but I get the mood occasionally.  Hell, I can’t even understand how one might post....I tried.

    I’m just a “joiner”, I guess.

Still...as regards Muda, I tried to open a new thread called “Thanks for a Your Support”.

    Thought Muda might like that.

  5. Although I had stepped back from the OOB some time back, I do regret having the plug pulled there and likely find my sympathies with Muda.

I will miss the, once in a while, opportunity to talk about a book, movie or TV series.....or, on rare occasion, something else....and even at its most “uncivil” it was downright polite compared to most other social media alternatives.

And to be clear, TD’s concerns there had little to do with what most participants there were saying to one another....TD could easily handle that...

  6. Look, I think DT is putting forth an interesting argument (whether I agree or disagree).....particularly if CG (and, potentially, Cathedral or Brownsburg end up being highly ranked nationally and end the season undefeated within the State).  I don’t see the relevance of bringing up teams in other classes UNLESS those teams ended the season being ranked No. 1 ALL CLASSES in the State if you are making an argument for the “Best Team Ever in Indiana”.

He’s not talking about the best team under 200 kids or the best team with a left-handed coach....he’s talking about the best team ever.....and any reasonable assumption (from my perspective) is that that team is the best team ever ALL CLASSES.

I’m not sure either that scoring spreads season long (or, more specifically, only in playoffs are that relevant either).  I’m thinking there was a Reitz team MANY years ago that might have shut out everyone in the season (maybe I recall incorrectly).

I will say this, though, to have any HOPE of claiming to be the best team EVER in Indiana the absolute minimal requirement is not losing to any other team from Indiana (I could see dropping a game to an out of state team that is ranked higher nationally and still claiming to be the best team ever from Indiana).

With that, ONLY the winner of the upcoming CG/Cathedral game might hope to even distantly make that claim.....and that assumes that neither loses a game to any other team from Indiana this year.

If this is truly the best team in the history of Indiana, they should still win comfortably without showing much. In all honesty, winner of this game probably has bragging rights the rest the year.

If, in fact, any team might want to lay claim to the best team in Indiana history then they need to back it up.....and the bragging rights wouldn’t just be for the “rest of the year” but rather for decades.

Sagarin doesn’t take into consideration out of state opponents which is Brownsburg signature win so far. CG, Cathedral, and Brownsburg are in tier 1 this year and it’s a wide gap from the rest.

If, in fact,  both CalPreps and Sagarin are actually correct in both ranking Chatard, North Central and Carmel as No.’s 4, 5 and 6 overall respectively, then clearly both CG and Cathedral have demonstrated that there is a wide gap.

  9. As good as they are, I’m not entirely certain they are even the best team in Indiana THIS year.

Although, I think CalPreps/MaxPreps doesn’t update for a few days (could be wrong), they are (were) ranked 2nd in the State behind Cathedral.  Admittedly, if CalPreps hasn’t updated, CG’s absolute spanking of a good North Central team  (who is NOT the No. 2 team in the State.....they’re not EVEN the No. 2 team in 6A...where are you coming up with that?) could send them to No. 1.

I’d hope that both CG and Cathedral will show all their cards and not hold back (and both be healthy) the last regular season game. To a point, that game IS the State Championship since neither are likely to be truly challenged in their own classes this year (with only the very possible exception of Brownsburg in 6A providing challenge to CG).

For both pride and posterity, I’d really like to see both those teams give that game their all.

Mooresville is absolutely formidable!  And with  QB who is a Sophomore (WOW)...  That's not going to change for the next 2 seasons.

Mooresville (and I am a Gillin fan...and Big Bob) is no given as to coming out of the South considering Mt. Vernon and, within their own Sectional, East Central (who beat Cincy Moeller by 2 scores just 2 weeks ago).

    Great stuff Lysander

Here are a few of my favorite "Mancave" movies.  Would you cast Tawny in any of them?

Manhunter - she might have to be a victim in one of the home movies.  Not sure I could allow that.

Miami Vice - Collin Farrels love interest

    Blow - Johnny Depps wife

Goodfellas - Ray Liottas girlfriend Janice.  They kind of look alike

    Casino - Sharon Stones part

    The Deerhunter - ?????

Pulp Fiction - sorry, nobody bumps Uma

Kill Bill - sorry again, Uma reigns supreme

    Django Unchained - Leo's sister

    Heat - Chris's wife

    The Godfather - Sonny's girlfriend

The Town - girl in the bank

Wellll....since we have entirely derailed the thread...Tawny would improve them all.  I have to be consistent.

BTW, As regards your list, if you haven’t seen “Hell or High Water” you should give it a look.  Taylor Sheridan is a helluva writer....and has also put forth the brilliant “Yellowstone” series (Kelly Reilly of Yellowstone, actually, could not be replaced by Tawny, btw.  Reilly is amazing from many perspectives...deserves an Emmy).

If you were a man with a registered pulse, you could not take your eyes off of Tawny in that video.  She opened the doors for scores of other hot babes to appear in videos with Motley Crue, Poison, Warrant, Ratt, etc.  It was a fun time.  I felt very badly for her when seeing pictures of her bad plastic surgery and her crazy domestic run ins.  The pressure on growing old must have been immense on the vixens that blessed the MTV screens in the glorious 80s

Some friends of mine (along with me) have done roughly 300 movie review podcasts over the last 8 or so years of our favorite “Mancave” movies.

One of our defining questions we always ask concerning any female lead in those movies is “Would the movie have been better if Tawny Kitaen was the lead?”

I have, at all times, answered in the affirmative....life in general is better with Tawny Kitaen....so long as I can still “bob and weave“.

Im trying to figure out who the guitar players are for David in this video.  The bass player is the great Rudy Sarzo, who also played with Twiested Sister, Ozzie Osborne, Ronnie James Dio and many others.  Is that Vivien Campbell, now with Def Leppard for many years?  Another of Coverdales great guitar players was Doug Aldrich, but this was before his time I believe.

Honestly, I could talk about Merle, Waylon (married to the HOT Jessi Colter) Willie, Cash, “No Show” Jones....and Emerson Lake and Palmer (go figure..) with definitive authority but not so much 80s hair bands.

I just had (have) a thing for Tawny Kitaen since seeing her in “Bachelor Party” while I was living in Detroit an eon ago.....up until I learned she could throw a haymaker....not that that made her entirely unattractive.....rather the arrest photo did.
