Still waiting for you to quote me on that.

The rest of your post is your normal gibberish.

You're right, I apologize. It was all Rock attempting to discredit Brady Allen as Mr. Football winner.

Sorry for lumping you in, that's not good company to be associated with.

That being said, I still don't think Center Grove is one of the 5 best teams in America. Worthy of a top 25 ranking (undefeated, state champs, etc) in my opinion, but if they played the type of schedule that many of the teams in the top 25 play I think their record would reflect as such. No doubt football in Indiana is growing (and getting better), but it's still light years behind South Florida, Texas, CA, etc.

In this day and age of prep school and academy football hard to believe there’s only 4 better teams than Center Grove, but nonetheless still a very cool recognition for both the Center Grove program and the state of Indiana itself.

    Attempt to discredit?

Why go there?  Good question but you’re asking the wrong person.

Where did I do that?  By stating that Curry should win?   I don’t think I’ve posted anything about it since the award was given. Try harder.

I read for two weeks that Allen shouldn't win the award because he "only" plays QB and only plays 3A competition.

I don't think Center Grove is the 5th best high school team in America. I think they would get mercy-ruled by IMG and their 24 D1 commits despite being lower ranked than Center Grove. That's my opinion, everyone had one.

Also, I thought these hypothetical rankings were meant to promote the sport and generate discussion?

    Some people need thicker skin.

Which is hypocrisy because these same two posters are trying to discredit a certain POY award winner in a thread just below this.

LOL @ the lengths some will go to in order to discredit an Indiana team’s success.

    Apparently for some.

Absolutely nobody discrediting Center Grove's success. Why go there?

Just have a hard time believing there are only 4 high school teams in America better than Center Grove. Center Grove doesn't play near the schedule that some of these teams ranked just behind them do nor do they have near the overall talent. Teams like St. Thomas Aquinas and Bishop Gorman have 15-20 legitimate D1 prospects and play nationally ranked teams week in and week out. Guessing if Center Grove played that kind of schedule, they'd be an afterthought for a top 5 ranking.

    Just an opinion.

Again, I hate to play devil's advocate, but having seen all of the ten teams listed play, I just don't see it.    Let's start with Corona (CA) Centennial, ranked 10th.   An 11-1 team, whose only loss was to top rated Mater Dei in a game that they led in the second half.    The week prior to that I watched them destroy a very good Mission Viejo team 62-16.    In addition to that game, they defeated #67 San Diego Cathedral Catholic (57-14), Long Beach Poly (52-7) and Norco (48-24).    Those are quality high school football teams.  Let's move on to #9, Fort Lauderdale St. Thomas Aquinas, who was probably playing better at the end of season than any team in the country, winning Florida's Class 7A in cakewalk 42-14 over an undefeated Tampa Bay Tech team.    Their only loss was to #15 ranked Tampa Jesuit on a last second field goal.   They were the only team to defeat #3 Baltimore St. Francis Academy.  They did not break a sweat in winning the state title as the Tech game was their closet game.   I have them ranked 13th in the country. Oh, and talking about Tampa Bay Jesuit, they are rated #8, one spot above Center Grove.    They did beat Aquinas, along with a win over Miami Northwester, but I was not impressed by their title win over Pensacola PIne Forest (35-29) and have actually dropped them to #15.  As I look at this poll, I do not see Bradenton (FL) IMG Academy, whose only loss was to St. Francis Academy nor do I see Las Vegas Bishop Gorman, who only loss was to highly rated Chandler (AZ) Hamilton in a game that they led 24-10 with less than a minute to play.   All polls make for great debate, mine gets ripped on PrepGridiron each week but I enjoy compiling them and am very open to criticism and input which you must be to put these things out.

I generally agree with this. I obviously don't watch/follow football nationally in they way you do, just find it hard to believe that a team like Center Grove is better than a team like St. Thomas Aquinas who has 15-20 kids with legitimate D1 offers. The competition these teams play in metro hotbeds like Dade/Broward Co, Houston, Dallas, LA, ATL, is just ridiculous, not to mention the private/prep schools who play national schedules.

From all the people I have spoken with and heard from, there are more schools that do not want to vote Carmel & CG in than ones who do. However, those schools are nervous about not letting them in because of a new conference that will be created by Carmel & CG. There are at least 2 or 3 HCC schools who would most likely leave to join this new conference. This would then break up the true HCC.

With this being said, if I was someone in charge of a HCC school, I would vote to put them in. Financially it just makes too much sense. I would be nervous about the potential HCC break up.

Would just be silly not to vote either school in if you’re the HCC. CG and Carmel are going to win their fair share of state titles regardless of what conference they’re in, might as well have them win under the HCC banner than vice versa. Adding both teams, especially Carmel, rekindles some old school Hamilton County rivals and in all honesty probably raises the level of competition for every conference member.

temptation is using Cathedral as an athletic role model for Frankfort.

Right, which is extremely silly and serves no purpose to the discussion.

I don't know the first thing about Frankfort but guessing there isn't a huge disparity in SES factors between them and conference foes. No reason for them to be as bad as they are unless there isn't even attempt by the local community and administration to improve their football program which honestly may be the case.

  9. 19 minutes ago, temptation said:

Only roughly 150 kids fewer than Cathedral.  Bet if they had a better coaching staff that worked harder they could compete with the Irish...

I wouldn't go that far, but no reason to think that with a solid support staff, good feeder program, etc Frankfort shouldn't fare much better than they currently do in a conference comprised of mostly 2A and 3A schools. I'd start there first.

Too bad they are so weak athletically.  It would be a perfect fit from a geographic standpoint.

How would they fare in the other sports in this proposed new conference?

Don't know anything about Frankfort other than they're a "4A school by enrollment only" per Muda.

From a football perspective only, WeBo is a better fit in your proposed Lafayette conference.

If tghis is too much for LCC, Frankfort would be an option, with the committment from the Frankfort administration that they will invest resources in better facilities, staff and equipment in an effort to upgrade thier program

Commitment from Frankfort? Muda preaches every week how Frankfort would be better off playing co-op flag football.

Now adding Brownsburg to the mix....this is getting ridiculous lol...

    Purely from a fan perspective.

Brownsburg likely falls a tier or two in the HCC hierarchy if Center Grove and Carmel join ship. Brownsburg moving to the MIC would give them an opportunity to finally become king of the hill in a conference and form geographical rivals with Pike and Ben Davis along with current rival Avon.

I'm guessing Brownsburg is perfectly content in the HCC and will remain that way with whatever happens going forward.

But a new alignment that adds Avon/Brownsburg/Franklin Central would be the best possible outcome for the MIC.

A state championship in both Volleyball and Track in the past 5 years seem to say they'd be okay in some sports....wrestling is generally a top 10 program in the state. Bless has made the football team competitive in the HCC including a conference championship in 2019...

I'm sure DC's F/R/L is much higher than the average in the Mid-State...doesn't mean you can't compete....Avon is still affluent in a large part of the town...again....they'll be alright.

What was the deal with Avon's football team this year? Saw they won one game? Young with a lot of roster turnover I take it?

Avon's put out some serious D1 talent the last few years.

All depends if Carmel/CG are a package deal.  I don't think they are but those I have spoken to seem to be of the mindset its both or neither.

Any idea on schools that are most resistant to adding Carmel/Center Grove? Purely from a fan standpoint I'd love to see a conference shake up between the HCC and MIC establishing new members as such:

    New HCC

    Carmel

    Center Grove

    Westfield

    Zionsville

    Fishers

    HSE

    Noblesville

    New MIC

    Warren

    Ben Davis

    Brownsburg

    Avon

    Franklin Central

    Pike

    Lawrence Central

    Lawrence North

HCC could leave a spot open to potentially add an 8th member in Mt Vernon assuming they continue their rapid growth.

Hold up. You literally interviewed Columbus North head coach Tim Bless back in July and, in that interview, he whined about the unfairness of having to play the 6A mega schools in the state tournament every year. He said the size discrepancy was “ridiculous and, in some cases, borderline unsafe.”

So my question to you is, based on that interview, how do you justify Columbus North making the move to the MIC when Ben Davis is more than twice the size of North, Warren Central and North Central are nearly twice the size of North, and Pike has 1,000+ more students than North? Is that not a “safety concern”?

North can’t even get out of sectionals due to a Center Grove team that has roughly 500 more students enrolled than North. Was he suggesting they were too big for North to compete with as well? If so, then Lawrence North would be too big also since they’re slightly bigger than Center Grove.

So I guess what I’m really saying is this. Either your suggestion of Columbus North jumping to the MIC is ridiculous or Tim Bless is full of crap and is bitter about not being able to beat Center Grove.

They're both full of crap. Both can, and in this case are, true.

Probably one of the biggest shocks in recruiting in a while. I can’t recall any other top 10 prospects committing to an FCS school…but hey you got the best to ever do it teaching you and you are guaranteed to start right away pretty much

Unfortunately, the brutal truth about this entire episode is that it is all about race.  "Cultural alignment" is nothing more than a veiled reference to racial differences that have developed between the 2 outbound schools and the 6 carryovers.  The shooting incident at Ben Davis and the Blackface debacle at Center Grove are not merely just coincidental with this seismic move by The MIC.  The two camps have grown apart and a separation was inevitable.  It is what it is.

Yet you've been shouting from the rooftops for years about this move well before either of these isolated incidents occurred. This has nothing to do with race and everything to do with the fact that the MIC doesn't pull their weight in regards to offering a competitive product to challenge CG or Carmel.

    Nothing more, nothing less.

So you are saying the folks behind the MIC public statement have no credibility and are full of BS?

I don't know about no credibility, but yes, lost a ton of credibility. And yes it's total BS to claim that the MIC isn't athletically motivated. It's an athletic conference for crying out loud, it's why it exists.

The MIC didn't want to get caught with their pants at their ankles when Carmel and CG inevitably bolted, so they acted and dressed up a bunch of BS to dance around the fact that Carmel and Center Grove were no longer being challenged athletically in their current conference. I don't want to hear this was an academic move either because Carmel and Center Grove (along with North Central) are by far and away the best academic schools in the MIC.
