Crown Point at Penn
Boilernation replied to ASJCPUMA's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
What I was referring to regarding Geesman had nothing to do with the MOV. I agree he would have been worth some points on the board and defensive stops. What I saw last night was a clear and decisive difference in talent between the 2 teams. And that really hurts when you consider how well coached and prepared CP is. Maybe I just don’t watch Penn enough, but I can’t remember the last I watched Penn play a DAC or SAC team and think the talent was decisively in favor of the opponent. It certainly wasn’t the case last year with Penn and Crown Point. Maybe the new coach will work out for you guys when the talent level increases. I watched the stream on Region Sports. Either the color commentator or play by play guy mentioned before the game started that they talked to some Penn fans while walking in who told them Penn was awful this year. -

I chuckle at the 5-4 and 6-3 guarantees as someone who has lived in the HCC blue print for the past 25 years. Does Komet look at the schedule and assume that’s the case or has he actually watched Crown Point this year? They have a solid offensive scheme and multiple 6’2-6’4 LB/TE who will be playing D1 football. And a 4 year starter at QB who is also going D1. They are a tier 1 HCC team with a very good offense that can control clock. Their weakness is the same as last year: no elite speed in the secondary or at WR, which will kill you against BD or LN’s of the world. Brownsburg, Fishers or Westfield could probably exploit the CP secondary, but I don’t think any one of them are stopping CP’s offense. I’ve seen enough of Carrol that I’ll take CP by about 7-10. CP vs Westfield or Fishers is a close game just like last year. -

35-0. I’m not sure Geesman could have made a difference. Major difference in talent between Crown Point and Penn. The 99 yard TD drive for Crown Point in the 2nd quarter put the nail in the coffin. -
Great game. I’ve been very bullish on Memorial all year. Probably should have taken the time to watch HH play. They have some playmakers on O starting with the younger Goldsberry. He’s a tough player just like his dad was. Cool atmosphere with fans lining the sidelines. I’m surprised they were allowed to be right on the sidelines and endzones!

Lincoln Way East, Marist, Mt. Carmel, St. Rita, Nazereth Academy, Loyola, Naperville Centra, Downers Grove North, etc. would be great additions to the Bulldog schedule. Only problem is it's hard to get Chicago teams to leave their bubble and they start a week later than Indiana. -

Power T run heavy offense. Probably about 5 passes per game. -

31-7. It appears Carmel fell asleep on the bus ride to Fort Wayne and woke up at HT. -
Sharpe Out At Noblesville
Boilernation replied to Boilernation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Yeah, I don't know the extent to his comments. I know the few times I went to a feeder game the teams were running the Power T. I'm completely out of the loop on this one. I wasn't involved in Noblesville Grinders / Middle School programs and I no longer live in Noblesville. -

To clarify, I was referring to community support for the Miller's athletic program. Noblesville is a great community for HS sports. -

Speaking of madness, have you finally conceeded that Homestead didn't just have an off night on 11/1/19? -
Sharpe Out At Noblesville
Boilernation replied to Boilernation's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Agreed. They have the community support and are primed for a breakthrough. The beautiful new stadium would be packed every Friday night despite the record. And I believe Sharpe has created a phenomenal culture. His players also NEVER quit. That doesn't happen without great leadership when the losses are piling up. -

A couple of South Bend schools are inflating that average points per game. Not saying they stink at all. Never said that actually. Just stated they're offensively challenged. -

LOL...The hyperbole was layered pretty thick in that one. Still, when you see it, you see it. Concord, New Prairie and Penn all pretty much shut down Elkhart's offense. It's not like Snider put forth some hurculean effort. -
Bummer. Seemed like a really good guy. Conceeded the Power T wasn't a popular scheme and he was ready to focus on spending more time with his 4 kids. Plans to continue teaching in Noblesville schools.

All 22's from Arizona not looking good for CW. Appeared to be passing the open underneath routes to force the ball down field. I believe he was criticized for playing "hero ball" at USC. Time for the OC to do his job and get the QB and offense under control.

I could cast a radius within 25 miles from where I'm currently sitting and possibly find a JV team that could hold Elkhart's offense to 7 points. One of the worst I've seen all year and Snider's defense didn't have anything to do with it. Last year Crown Point continuously took 14 point leads and Penn continuously struck back by easily passing the ball down field. I have a feeling this year it won't be so easy for Penn to overcome a large deficit. I would take CP by a minimum of 14 if they can contain the Penn O. Weather shouldn't be much of an impact as well. -

Fair points. I guess I view Merrillville the same way @temptation and many others view Brownsburg in the playoffs: I don't trust the Pirates. -
Non football related, but I read yesterday that Memphis basketball player Tyreek Smith has hit the portal before playing a single game for Memphis. And he was already paid $175K in NIL since committing to Memphis. Supposedly, he didn't like the way the rest of his NIL agreement was going to be handled. Yikes. As far as I can tell this guy isn't a legit NBA prospect. I can't help buy wonder how these cash grab decisions will impact college players in the real world. No F'n way would I hire someone with a track record of jumping schools for the highest NIL deal.

Good point. Outside of the move in from Tennessee who is going to Ball State, I believe all of their top talent were starters last season. I'm fairly certain the QB going to Miami(OH) has been a starter since his Freshman year at Hobart. He's solid. I really like the way Crown Point plays offensively. A good mix of power running out of jumbo sets and efficient passing plays with Ehrling. The TE going to Indiana State and the 6'2 220'ish ATH who is a Junior and already has power conference offers are very nice options in the passing game. Buzea and Co. know how to scheme offense. I wouldn't be surprised if Penn hung around for a while. The Kingsmen are arguably the toughest team Crown Point will have played all year. Might take a while to get into a good rhythm. Penn's passing attack kept this game from turning into a blowout last year. They tore apart the CP secondary. No idea if Penn can still throw the ball around this year. -
IF Flus is let go then Ben Johnson has to be priority number one, correct? The only other hot OC at the moment is you know who in Washington. IDK, seems like OC should be the ceiling for KK in the NFL or College. Personally, I would prefer an offensive minded HC if Flus can't figure out how to right the ship.
-
OL still sucks. Kmet is apparently just a pass blocker and long snapper now. Defense is banged up. Waldron sucks. Flus is probably out. Poles has some tough decisions to make. Warren won't stop talking about putting cranes in the sky on the lakefront. Shame on me for thinking this year would be any different. I think CW will be fine. Downfield accuracy is an issue, but he's clearly a rhythm passer and he can't get into a rhythm with that joke of an OL or Waldron's play calling. Hard to really judge him until he's playing in a competent system. It is clear at this point he has the ability to be great.

Oh, for F's sake. Does he have any idea what Brian Flores would have done to Richardson? Doyel should stick to writing heartworming fluff pieces about people he encounters across the state. Those are about all he is good for as a journalist.

And those big plays were on poorly thrown jump balls. I just don't understand why a team would go spread and try to throw the ball around the field when accuracy is a major issue. -

Snider rolled into the '94 5A Semi State at Portage with multiple charter busses and completely packed the visitor side, which was before Portage replaced their bleachers and had a fairly large visitor side. No chance that happens in 2024. To easy to avoid the long drive west on 30 and just watch the game on Summit City Sports.
