  1. From Yahoo Sports. I don't get the love for Caleb Williams. Kid has a history of folding when the defensive pressure is ramped up. https://sports.yahoo.com/bears-trading-justin-fields-gms-explain-why-its-the-best-route-and-where-compensation-could-land-153257987.html?guccounter=1&guce_referrer=aHR0cHM6Ly90LmNvLw&guce_referrer_sig=AQAAACtlLQNBfB5mvs-4EIGXW5XSR_UjXdr6OOhcaYFv_6o-HsLmCpGB9ssA7cbaXI1xhzyzidshNZXRB9KmgCrQc5A-5yDwyWpDs9t-UqZsae5mqKsB8HZlyVsDzP2_xIEzL5f1i5jbn57gmh1qD7dLI40fgBPwYvUSxgcU9vsgLpP_
  2. I'm looking forward to seeing how Fields plays against a solid Browns defense. The Flus/Fields situation is starting to get interesting. The Bears can really do some damage in the draft if they don't have to go QB with the #1 pick. I have no idea what the market in terms of draft picks would be if they did trade Fields. My assumption is they both stay or both go. I can't imagine they would keep Flus and give him a rookie QB. Likewise, I can't imagine them keeping Fields and giving him a new HC/OC.
  3. That's awesome. Les Klein looks so young in that picture. I remember him as Portage's AD in the '90's when I was an Indian.
  4. HaHa. I forgot about that. I'm onboard now. I don't know how that would work without Relegation. Unless it's easier than I'm thinking for all current Power 4 Schools to maintain their financial committment.
  5. This was inevitable. And give me more reason to believe a system of relegation is in our future.
  6. I like Travis' comment that he wished he broke his leg earlier in the year so the committe could see that FSU can still play without him.
  7. Not following. Louisville went 10-3 and had no valid reason to complain if they were left out.
  8. McCord doesn't surprise me as he didn't seem to have QB1 locked up for the foreseeable future. Gabriel surprises me though the only OU game I watched was the Red River Shootout. I'm still amazed by this Portal era.
  9. Harbaugh probably dislikes every suit in the NFL and they all probably dislike him as well. Warren will take Harbaugh to win. Harbaugh would put up with Warren to be in Chicago if that's what where he desires to be.
  10. Of course. But at that point it's semantics revolving teams who have lost enough games that they have no real gripe. Florida State as un undefeated has a legit gripe.
  11. I love that the Committe admitted the health of Travis played a part in their rankings. Especially since they ranked FSU ahead of Georgia. So, FSU without Jordan Travis is better than Georgia? Ok. Glad we're going to an expanded playoff next year. It'll have it's faults but it beats this quagmire.
  12. Washingon as a 10 point underdog made me with I was still a gambler. Man. What a crazy line.
  13. Honestly, I think he would look like a QB that holds the ball too long and misses open reads. I could be wrong, but I thought Stroud was trending as the presumed #1 pick closer to the draft until it leaked that Carolina was taking Young.
  14. Are you guys forgetting how long he holds onto the ball when he does have time to throw? He held the ball for a whopping 6 seconds on the play he hurt his thumb against Minnesota. And he fumbles, a lot. I'm not seeing him as QB1 with Philly's OL. The all 22 film consistantly shows him missing wide open WR's. IDK. If I'm Poles I'm cutting ties with a QB I didn't draft and bringing someone in on a rookie friendly deal that frees up more cash.
  15. No thanks, but talk about getting the shaft. The Panther's lunatic owner forced his GM to pass on Stroud and draft Bryce Young. Now Reich has to take the fall for that decision along with Carolina having no talent whatsover.
  16. Last night was like watching Iowa play Iowa. I agree regarding Flus. Poles even mentioned in a presser about 2 weeks ago how impressed he was with the energy and focus Flus brings to the team on a weekly basis. My guess though is he's gone. Albert Breer reported yesterday that the Bears were likely going to move on from Flus and that Kevin Warren wanted more influence in the decision making. I don't think that's necessarily bad as he has the right to have some influence over Poles. If Flus is let go and doesn't decide to take a year off, he'll likely be picked up very quickly as a DC. IMO, he's done a solid job taking over DC duties after the previous DC was fired. Regarding Poles, I think he's safe. I can't imagine Warren would OK his GM trading away a 2nd round pick and locking Sweat into a long term deal if he planned on firing said GM. It'll be interesting to see how they handle Fields. I was hoping he would firmly cement himself as QB1 and the Bears picked up the 5th year option. That would allow the Bears to potentially not have to use one of their 2 Top 5 picks on a QB. At this point I don't see how Poles can risk his future on Fields. I'm hoping he goes with Maye if he does draft a QB. And please hire an offensive minded HC.
  17. You must have cringed every-time the announcers talked about how gracious the Colts are for allowing the IHSAA to use LOS.
  18. No, but ironically Buzea has a chance to do to Mann what the legendary Lidy at Castle did to him. Buzea was in his first year as a HC when he lost the 5A Title in ‘94 with Portage.
  19. That's because you haven't seen them play. Nobody slows their run game down. Prepare yourself for at least 300 yards rushing and a lot of EC TD's. You may chuckle and shake your head in desbelief, but it's your reality in a few days. NW's only hope is for Edmonds and/or Tuggle to somehow outscore EC in a shootout. I probably have a better chance of winning the Powerball than that actually happening.
  20. My only interest in this game is to see how these guys perform against East Central. They, along with NW's offense as a whole, was enteraining against Leo. I wouldn't be surprised if Tuggle and Edmond alone could generate 20-25 points for NW. Doesn't really matter though when East Central's offense will come close to scoring on every posession.
  21. It's too bad the Lions OC couldn't fly back to Chicago with the team and take over HC duties with Flus being demoted to strictly DC.
  22. Yeah, I forgot to mention the screen passes. Coy is a very good WR who beat Zachary on multiple occasions. And Smith with Brownsburg had the speed to get behind the Ben Davis secondary. Delich is a big DB playing WR on offense. I doubt he can cause the same problems as Coy and Smith. I'm curious to see what Crown Point tries doing. I fealt they were very vanilla against Westfield in the 1st half as the power running game was working and burning clock. Westfield's comeback forced them to adjust and they added in screens and play action passes. I can't think of a single play where they got behind Westfield's secondary for a big pass gain. Ehrlich has the arm, but I don't think he has the WR's to get open against BD on fly routes.
  23. This is where I think having Buzea gives Crown Point some sort of a shot to at least compete. He doesn't have to watch the film to know what he's getting into. He had two VERY good Homewood-Flossmoor teams that "lost" 8A State Title games to Loyola Academy in Illinois. Technically, one of the losses was early in the Tourney as the IHSA ridiculously seeded Loyala and H-F which caused them to meet early similiar to BD/Brownsburg. His H-F teams had the same demographic makeup of BD and the best teams were loaded with D1 talent. On offense, my guess is he will use a lot of play action and misdirection to try to combat the pressure that BD's front 7 brings on every play. I was shocked that CP was able to effectively use their power run game against Westfields front 7. I think it's impossible against BD's front 7. Ehrlic is only a Junior and is already fielding MAC offers. He can throw the ball. They'll need him to throw a lot more than he did against Westfield. 6'3 S/WR Landon Delich is a Toledo commit. I'm sure Zachary will be on him all game. Maybe that will open up some other areas of the passing game that CP tries to attack. I thought CP benefitted by getting Westfield as HSE's passing attack with Donovan and Co. was more lethal of an offense than Westfield's. Penn completely abused the CP defense. I have little hope they'll stop Ben Davis' offense. If Crown Point can counter Ben Davis' relentless Defense with crafty play calling and sustaining long drives I could see them only losing by about 15-20. Otherwise, I think it'll get ugly by the end of the 2nd quarter. As a former DAC player at Portage I'm just happy to see the Duneland back on the big stage with Valpo this year and now finally representation at the 6A level. IMO, CP the program has already won. They proved they can get over the Hamilton County hurdle similiar to when the Duneland was finally able to beat Penn with Valpo and Samardzija. CP has the enrollment, resources and community buy in to keep getting better and be a contender in the 6A North for years to come. If that comes to fruition maybe they'll take the next step in years to come and actually be capable of winning at LOS.
