  1. Maybe I don't. My bad.. fcs vs fbs - Google Search
  2. Numbers always seem to be uppermost in most MVP voter's minds. No one can even come close to matching Jonathon Taylor's numbers, no matter the position. I sure hope he stays healthy the rest of the season. The RB can also make life easier for the QB too, and the offensive line is quite important to both. I
  3. All FCS teams, with some good teams in the near past. Notre Dame scheduling is completed quite a few years before the game because of their independence. In fact, the Irish are scheduled to play Auburn in 2027 and 2028, iirc. Again, all FCS opponents.
  4. I haven't been a Bear fan since the Bobby Douglass days, but I'm impressed with their progress since hiring Coach Johnson, nice name too!😉
  5. Oh, they're deep for sure, but even Price and Williams aren't Love, he's special. And Minchey is quite capable, but he's basically untested.
  6. At this point in time I would agree with you. An injury problem could slow them considerably, like Carr or Love being injured. They lost to two outstanding teams by a total of four points to begin the season. A botched extra point cost them dearly in the A&M game.
  7. Name one that hasn't been a powerhouse in the last few years! Notre Dame's independence is unique in that they have to schedule many years in advance. They are probably never going to join a conference in my lifetime at least.
  8. I have great admiration for all that Coach Cignetti has accomplished at IU, a non football school until his arrival last season. He's done wonders with the program!
  9. The Irish began this season with Miami, on the road, and Texas A&M, while IU was playing three cupcakes to begin their season. It all evens out. And of course, Notre Dame being independent makes scheduling a long time problem for them. I'm a big fan of what IU has become, and don't demean anything they've accomplished, but their first three games were no challenge, and that that's a fact.
  10. But that was last season. Second game for the Irish this season was Texas A&M. Except for a missed extra point the game was even. I have the highest respect for the IU program. Just go to that thread to see that. But IU had three cupcake games to begin the season. That doesn't negate what their entire season has become, it's just a fact.
  11. Again, their "games" against Indiana State and Kenesaw state negate the "strong schedule" argument. See my remarks about IU on the IU thread.
  12. But Indiana State and Kenesaw State were wins at home. No real cupcakes on the Irish schedule. And I want to add that IU is my second favorite team. I'm not the least negative to what they're achieved and become.
  13. Indiana State and Kenesaw State ain't nothing to brag about. No one of that caliber on the Irish schedule.
  14. Too many penalties, too many picks! I'm proud of the effort, though! I hope to see all back here in August, the Good Lord willin'!
  15. Maybe you should check out IU's schedule. Iowa and Penn State, wer their marquee games to date, with Purdue at the end. Notre Dame is circled on each opponent's schedule for some reason, because it's still a big time win for them. Whether it's Navy or Boston College, they always play above their perceived levels against the Irish. And at one time, Texas A&M and Miami were both top five rated teams, and A&M still is. Losing by a total of four points isn't a non qualifier for the Irish, imho.
  16. Cooper's footwork was worthy of being like a ballet dancer, maybe even a ballet dancer would be impressed. It was so athletic that it defied nature. I saw him play in high school and knew he was good, but that catch just wasn't good, it was a miracle and a season saver! It's a mark of a great team to come back under those circumstances!
  17. My last regular season game was in 2006, against UCLA. It ended with Brady Quinn and Jeff Smardjia teaming up on a winning TD with 26 seconds left. We had seats next to the ND tunnel, and NBC interviewed the winning duo in the end zone near the tunnel. After the TV interview, the two high fived everyone on our side of the tunnel, including myself and my buddy, Charlie! It was a good day for the Irish!
  18. I've been lucky enough to have seen about a dozen Notre Dame/Navy games at the Stadium! It's an emotional sight for sure! I'm still quite surprised that the Irish covered the 30.5 spread! I didn't realize that Navy's QB was out until gametime, but his replacement played well the first half. The Irish defensive coaches made the necessary adjustments at halftime. And the ND offense is tremendous at this point. Jeremiyah Love has to be mentioned as a Heisman candidate, and maybe even get an invite to NYC. I understand he's not a QB, but he makes Carr's job a whole lot easier. And Jardarian Price ain't too bad either, quite a tandem!
  19. The Colts pull out a 31-25 win in OT, that shouldn't have gone to OT. Too many 4th down misses when a FG should have been the call. The old adage is, you never turn down sure points. Another thought. Now that Tyler Warren played QB today, does that make him more likely to win ROY? He also threw a nice block on the Taylor winning TD. Speaking of Jonathan Taylor, is he going to break the stream of QB MVP winners? If QB's are the only ones that are considered for MVP, why not just name it the MVQ? He's far and away the most valuable player in the NFL! He scored 3 TD's in a game for the 5th time this season. Oh, and he gained a bunch of yards today also. BTW, I've lost my cell phone! If anyone finds a black encased phone on the westside of Indy, near 21st and Country Club Road, it may be mine. It was lost sometime Friday afternoon, around 4:30. Quite impressive for both! Steichen needs to give up the macho fourth down, and settle for FG's. They would have won the game in regulation if he had.
  20. But the Steelers didn't score after the muffed punt.
  21. It was a bump in the road that didn't need to happen. The first quarter sure wasn't difficult on the road. It got tough when JJ strip sacked the QB and he didn't play well for a spell after that. He did come back to form later in the game.
  22. I just purchased my ticket for Friday night. Word is that this game could be a sellout. I'm not sure the size of the New Pal stadium.
  23. Cathedral ended up with a Sagarin SOS of 14, and that includes three out of state games that don't count and games against Southport and Anderson. That means the rest of their schedule was really good. It will be a fun night Friday, that's for sure!
  24. I haven't heard that, but that's quite interesting! The game is at LC also.
