  1. Mooresville to Evansville Bosse Enlow Field is about 2 hrs 25 min. Which is a little shorter than Chatard traveling there (about 3 hrs) and much shorter than East Central almost 4 hrs. Nov 11 2016 was a Friday and Monrovia traveled to the Reitz Bowl to play Mater Dei (a 2 hr 30 min drive) and beat Mater Dei 35-28. Game time is 7:30pm EST (6:30 pm CST). If the Pioneers leave at say Noon should be more than enough time to get there and do all your normal pre-game routine.
  2. @dmizers3 I wouldn't pay much attention to it. First post by that screen name, and same with the "cathedral poster" with a prediction on the previous page. Probably accounts created yesterday. These big game threads always tend to mysteriously get new screen names with first time posters that like to stir things up. It gets some going sometimes, but when you step back it can look comical. Any rate most of us know who the regular posters for each team are. Then throw in the GID bookie @Olympian06 and always gets a good wager on a big game for a donation to the GID and I love it! lol FYI I actually really like New Pal's nickname of the Dragons. It is unique nickname that not many schools have!
  3. I found that statement kind of odd. Didn't really get what point was trying to be made. Having watched the game I didn't see much that wasn't called that should have been. It really was a rather clean game by both teams.
  4. Of course "athletes" mean squat to recruiters and position coaches. Let me rephrase my statement "who has more athletes will mean jack squat on who wins this game". Better?
  5. Allow me to explain I wasn't typing about #6 Combs for Ev. Memorial. I was typing about #6 K. Evans for Mooresville. He has good numbers at WR, but his brother #13 B. Evans is the better WR.
  6. #6 has some decent numbers. but #13 will be the better WR. #1 is a very good WR too.
  7. I would say Mooresville stepped it up last year and maintained a steady program this year. They advanced to the Regional's last year losing a tight one to Marion 19-13 finishing 11-2. This year they had 1 more loss than last year in the regular season, but their 2 losses this year were to 5A Decatur Central 24-21 and 5A Whiteland 17-13. They were extremely competitive in both games. Coach Gillin and his staff have done a great job of rebuilding the program and maintaining a strong program.
  8. Agreed, Keeping in mind also Monrovia and Mooresville being Southwest outside of Indianapolis is a shorter travel than say teams traveling from the Northeast side of Indianapolis.
  9. I guess somebody forgot to tell Jeremy Wariner before he retired about this. That and even Matthew Boling. My contention wasn't that New Pal, Cathedral, or Center Grove don't have speed (each one of them do). My contention about Center Grove is that they have had extremely fast players present and past (can name several fast RB's for CG over the years that also did well in track). My contention is that while speed kills, you can over come that with discipline. Something that all 3 above mentioned programs have, and they have speed as well. That being said having watched quite a few games. I would say the fastest player that I have watched Cathedral have to defend didn't come from Indiana. They have seen Elder QB Matthew Luebbe the last 2 years and he was lightening fast. Which is a big reason he leads the GCL in rushing yards and he is definitely not African American. I am sure @IndplsCathedral_Dad can elaborate how fast Luebbe was in person, I only saw game film. He definitely has jets. New Bethel Ordinary is a must! The best pizza I have ever had in my life. You will enjoy it for sure!
  10. Brock Combs is a terrific player. Mooresville will definitely have to find a way to stop him Offensively and try to limit his impact defensively. Playing great athletes like Combs will not be something new to Mooresville. They did play a team with an athlete of his caliber this year in Decatur Central's Kenny Tracy. They were fortunate to limit him to 60 yards on 10 carries and 1 Rec for 10 yards. They had to try and bottle up East Central's Fike and Donawerth last week too and were able to keep them limited in rushing. You are more than likely not going to completely shut down Combs, but I agree they will need to manage or try to control his impact on the game. Ev Memorial is not a huge underdog by any stretch of the imagination especially playing at home. Not fooling anyone with that statement. Both teams Memorial and Mooresville will have terrific players on the field. The Pioneers will have their hands full with Pence, Hurley, Combs, McCool, and Russell while on Defense. While on Offense they will have to manage Combs, Auker, Johnson, and Jones. I think both teams will want to establish the run, but both can throw the ball very effectively. It will be a good one for sure.
  11. Not a daunting task at all for Memorial to compete in 4A. I say that because they already play 4A and 5A schools during the regular season and in their conference regardless of their enrollment. 4A schools: Jasper, Northview, Ev Reitz, Ev Central, Ev Harrison. 5A schools Ev North and Castle. The only 2 teams on their schedule that aren't 4A or 5A are Ev Bosse 3A and Ev Mater Dei 2A. Mooresville also plays teams above their class and enrollment. 5A schools Plainfield, Decatur Central, Franklin, Whiteland, Perry Meridian. This will be a better game than what some may think. It is an advantage for Memorial to be playing at home, tough to beat the Tigers any place let alone at Enlow. Right now Sagarin has Mooresville as a 6 point favorite which is boosted up from what it was last week. The Mooresville win over East Central gave them a larger boost in Sagarin than Ev Memorials victory over Ev Central because East Central was #1 in 4A at the time in the Sagarin ratings. Ultimately Sagarin doesn't matter but it does show that this game will be closer than some may think.
  12. I don't believe that is a Cathedral fan. At any rate number of D1 players means jack squat. What does matter is how a team plays together, how disciplined they play, and if they play hard in games. I would say both New Palestine and Cathedral this year check all of those boxes. They play together, they play disciplined (both teams will make mistakes because they are H.S. teens), and they play and work hard. That is why they are successful. I would say Center Grove fits that bill too and that is why they compete so well in the MIC most years with teams that may have more athletic talent than them. Just my 2 cents.
  13. I don’t want to come off as I feel they will win. I think it will be a great game! I just think they don’t get credit for their team speed just because of their size.
  14. Just an honest observation. If you think Mooresville only has size and no speed you will be very surprised. They play in a conference with Decatur central whom has excellent speed and didbjust fine against them.
  15. In all honesty what @dmizers3 and @CaptainHook aren’t telling you is he is the Uncle RICO of running backs! Only kidding! lol https://images.app.goo.gl/h1z5pjqRbs2sP1uU9
  16. About darn time you chimed in!! Lol just joking, agreed people run with goofy stuff!
  17. Doubt it. Just an FYI 6:30 Evansville time is 7:30 Indianapolis time. Not sure what will come of this game. While some may think the Pioneers haven’t played some talent, I would disagree. Not a lot of players more talented than Kenny Tracy (Decatur Central). They are definitely battle tested (as is Memorial). The Pioneers RB has been out since prior to Martinsville Rd 2 sectionals. They’ve done just fine with his back-up
  18. Got it...don’t get me wrong I wasn’t saying it makes them any less. Just wanted to point out a weak schedule has produced State Titles (see Columbus East and New Pal) playing a tough schedule has also produced State Titles (see cathedral and Chatard). i definitely get what you are referring to now. My apologies.
  19. I wouldn’t get silly. New Pal has athletes too. They will be well prepared. One thing cathedral has not seen this year is a string physical RB like Spegal. They have seen some very good and fast RB’s but Spegal is not like the TB’s they have seen. They will have to play their best for sure!
  20. I’m a little confused by this statement. Are you inferring that Cathedral’s scheduling is less successful? 5 out of the last 10 years have produced State Championships . In all honesty the number of players playing both ways won’t matter in this game. Football can be all about match-ups. I think this game becomes more interesting with the match-uos. Cathedral’s run defense vs New Pal’s run offense, cathedral’s pass defense vs Ne Pal’s pass offense, New Pal’s run defense vs Cathedral’s run offense, and Bew Pal’s pass defense vs Cathedral’s pass offense. I mean while it has been referenced Cathedral won games they probably should have lost (according to stats) yet got turnovers in defense or big plays on offense. Don’t they still create those turnovers or execute to get those big plays? Same goes for New Pal don’t they execute to methodically move down the field? Don’t they execute to make big stops?
