  1. Agreed! I don't see competitive balance mentioned anywhere in their purpose either. Actually I see this "The purpose of the IHSAA is to encourage and direct wholesome amateur athletics in the high schools of Indiana". Contraction is not encouragement.
  2. I would expect no less from you than this heartless comment. I'm blessed to have never been in the situation that these kids or their parents have been in, and I'm sure you have been too. That doesn't mean everyone has been that fortunate. It does not matter if contraction is a key and vital tool needed to maintain competitive balance. Competitive balance has nothing to do with this situation. No the kids lives will not be destroyed, but playing sports is a good distraction from their daily life. It keeps them off the streets and busy doing something. Just my 2 cents.
  3. Long list of Chatard runnung backs that are legends: Kleinschmidt, Pappas, Mason, Daniels. I found it interesting that Taylor is just a bit taller than Mason was. At any rate all of them were legendary RB's at Chatard.
  4. I highly doubt that Cathedral would be overlooking Decatur Central after DC beat them in the Sectional Championship last year 21-14. If I were to guess I would think they might be even more motivated and have had this game circled knowing it was a possibility. I also do not think they will overlook Kenny Tracy after he ran for 96 yds 1 TD and had 61 yards receiving 1TD. Last year the QB ran for 117 yards so I would think they won't be overlooking any position..
  5. I think you might be surprised that even though New Palestine and Cathedral's Offense get a lot of attention they both have spectacular defense's. New Palestine gives up an average of 8 ppg and a lot of those points come when their back-ups are in. I know New Pal doesn't play in the best conference, but they gave up 9 points to Center Grove and only 7 to Whiteland. Cathedral has given up 15 ppg against a pretty rugged schedule with some teams that can put up points in bunches. Holding Chatard to 21 points (Chatard's average is 43 ppg) was a pretty solid effort. They also held Center Grove to 9 and Louisville Trinity to 7. The 2 games that have killed their average were Cincinnati Elder and Cincinnati St. X who both can put up a lot of points quickly. Against their opponents from Indiana they have given up 10 ppg. While I think Cathedral and New Pal are the favorite from the South bracket, I do think Valpo and FW Dwenger are the favorites from the North. Both Valpo and Dwenger have very good defense's as well. Of the 4 teams Valpo, New Pal, Dwenger, and Cathedral they all have very good defense's that are in the top 5 of 5A. Offensively Dwenger is the only one not in the top 10 of PPG. Some interesting games coming forward for sure.
  6. Oh you mean that type of Trap Game. I was starting to think about the good ole I Formation. I love a good Fullback Trap!
  7. Ah, in all its glory the "Field of Champions"! Still can't believe the IHSAA didn't want the game played here (wasn't it against Gibson Southern)?
  8. Mooresville and EC both will want to run the ball. Mooresville doesn't sling it as much as they did the last 2 years according to their stats, they seem to like to establish the run. However they do have the capability throw very effectively.and have deep ball threats. Definitely an interesting game. Likely will come down to turnovers who makes the least mistakes. Could be a fast game. Mooresville Rushing 414 Carries 2,429 yds 32 TD's 5.9 ypc 220.8 ypg Mooresville Passing 115 of 206 for 1,624 yds 22 TD 14.1 ypc 147.6 ypg East Central Rushing 303 Carries 2,085 yds 34 TD's 6.9 ypc 208.5 ypg East Central Passing 98 of 157 for 1,463 yds 18 TD's 14.9 ypc 146.3 ypg
  9. I am really interested in the East Central @ Mooresville game. I have thought of it as a toss up game. That being said East Central really struggled with 4-6 Greenwood at Greenwood, and now they play at Mooresville. The Pioneers had no troubles with Greenwood in Conference play winning 31-7. I haven't been able to watch the Trojans this year. I'm really leaning towards Mooresville. I do know it should be one heck of a game in Mooresville this Friday! I'm leaning towards Memorial getting revenge against Central.
  10. I have to agree with @Staxawax #1 the first meeting between Avon and Brownsburg was 7-3.#2 the game was at Brownsburg #3 it’s a huge rivalry game and in rivalry games anything can happen #4 these 2 teams are so familiar with each other. It didn’t surprise me that Brownsburg beat Avon I thought it would be a toss up game. i also wasn’t surprised that Merrillville beat Lafayette Jeff. I thought that would be a toss up game too. i was extremely surprised that Homestead struggled with Niblesville. It was more surprising that Westfield beat Fishers as bad as they did. I was surprised with Carroll over Snider. i also was not shocked by Franklin central beating Columbus North.
  11. Avon losing to Brownsburg not surprised (close game the first time). Knew Lafayette Jeff Merrillville would be close. 9-0 Homestead in OT with 1-8 noblesville is a major shock
