  3. I won't get into the one coach is better than the other. Coach Hart and Coach Bless are both outstanding coaches. Coach Bless is part of a coaching family too. His father Bill is University of Indianapolis's all time wins. His 2 brothers are also coaches at Columbus North and Bloomington North. Here is a great article about him: https://fox59.com/2017/09/11/avons-bless-continues-football-coaching-legacy/ At any rate both great coaches.
  4. I wasn't saying anything bad about HH. Just showing that Danville had a great run too. Only problem was they usually ran into Chatard at the Sectional Championship level instead of Semi-STate like HH did.
  5. Yes, that was the one I was talking about. Was a great RB and great LB! His first name was escaping me, I knew the last name was Powers. Thank you!
  6. From 1997-2002 Danville was 69-8 (2000-2002 they were 34-4) under Bob Copeland. They lost the Sectional Championship to Chatard in 97, 98, 01, and 02. In 99 they lost the State Championship to FW Luers and in 00 lost in Semi-State to Ev Mater Dei. Those were some darn good football teams Danville was pumping out. @Bobref did that 2002 Danville team have a RB with last name of Powers?
  7. Sagarin and Calpreps had New Palestine as a 21 point favorite. I went a little more generous at 2 TD's, it definitely could be a 4 TD victory for the Dragon's. I guess I went with 2 TD's because with Whiteland running the fly offense they can limit possessions by shortening the game. It was all just a guess.
  8. I was not surprised by the result of the Plainfield/Decatur Central game. It was a DC home game and they play very well at home. These are 2 opponents that are very familiar with each other. I do think playing in the first round for Decatur Central was a positive in building momentum and more snaps to sharpen their Offense and Defense. I personally think Decatur Central should cruise past T.H. North this Friday with another home game. I also think having a week off benefits Cathedral in getting any players that might be dinged up healthy. A week 9 game against Center Grove is a tough game, the 1 week rest will likely do some good. T.H. South is the better of the 2 T.H. schools and the Braves will be no slouch. I hope both Cathedral and Decatur Central win Friday night. Always fun to watch the Hawks and Irish play, makes for some great games. Best of luck to both teams. New Pal will have a tough game at Whiteland, but I expect they will come away with a victory (I'll say 2 TD win). The Franklin Seymour game should be good. Franklin is much improved and even though the Owls 4-5 they have been very competitive! I think Sectional 14 has turned out to be a very solid Sectional, but I think the Dragons will come out unscathed to Regional they are a very good football team.
  9. I may be wrong, but I believe it is 100% based on the sagarin ratings to get the percentages.
  10. I'm not sure if they are a favorite. I think New Pal and Cathedral are right there at the top as favorites in 5A. That being said, I think the numbers that the percentages come from are skewed only because of some of the conference opponents New Pal has (not in New Pal's control). Also there are 8 teams that can boost or drop for New Pal by the numbers in Sagarin and only 5 for Cathedral (since sagarin does not include out of state teams). Actual talent and play between the 2 (New Pal and Cathedral) I think it's a toss up. Just my personal opinion.
  11. Thank you @JustRules, @PHJIrish, @Irish Line Momma having not watched the Jeffersonville game and not knowing the crews between the 2 games the only information I had was what the CG webcast crew stated. I'm not sure why @Bobref took exception with that part of my post. I believe I even mentioned I've no way of knowing that for sure. It didn't have to be as big of a deal as it was made out to be. My observation of the calls in the game were from what I observed not what the webcast crew felt or stated. I only brought to light their statement about many flags thrown in the game against Jeffersonville. At any rate I posted video of the game for Bob to observe, I respect his observations of officiating mechanics so I will be interested to see what his thoughts are. Of course I understand this won't be the same as game film recorded by each team which would be better.
  12. Having watched a couple Mooresville webcasted games and looking at the stats, the Pioneers appear to be balanced. Maybe a little more run than pass. Coach Gillin is an excellent Coach and they seem to take what the defense is giving them. 1,401 yds passing 17 TD's 1,927 yds rushing 26 TD's
  13. Absolutely agree with that statement. I'm just suggesting possible teams that could pose problems for Mooresville or East Central got to that point. The Central Memorial game was at Central in regular season was a 23-20 OT win for Central. I guess I was just thinking maybe Memorial would be extra motivated. Both will be tough outs in the tournament (Memorial and Central).
  14. Still have Evansville Memorial possibly at Regional level. Possible Semi-State could be Roncalli whome obviously is much improved after they win over Guerin Friday night.
  15. Fortunate for Mooresville they are in the Mid-State conference with some pretty darn good teams. We will see if it has battle tested them and prepared them well. If it comes to Mooresville vs East Central should be a great game. If both East Central and Mooresville make it to the Sectional Championship, the Trojans will have to travel to the Pioneers.
  16. There were flags that were definitely warranted. There were some where I felt it was excessive after watching the game. I don't complain about officiating much at all and I definitely had no dog in the fight. .The comment about the webcast crew was that they said this same crew did the Cathedral/Jeffersonville game and it was mentioned to them they were excessive with their flags. Didn't watch that game have no idea, I have watched other games and haven't seen the problem through 6 other games. Not saying the officials are bad, but in my opinion you get different enforcements from different crews. I don't think the officials should be shredded. I also don't think a team should be stated that there might be a problem when it hasn't been a problem in 6 other games I have watched (one of those being their most heated rival). Could be just the strict enforcement by that particular crew. It may be something they do consistently too through all games they officiate.
  17. I don't feel there is a problem at all. I've caught at least 6 of the 9 games Cathedral has played either on live webcast or replay (Noblesville, Cincy Moeller, Cincy Elder, Chatard, Cincy St. X, Louisville Trinity, and Center Grove). No Unsportsmanlike conduct penalties and then several in the Center Grove game. I didn't get to watch the Jeffersonville game, but heard the Center Grove webcast crew mention this was the same crew from the Cathedral Jeffersonville crew (after the first penalty) and they mentioned this crew was flag happy. I wouldn't be able to say if it were true or not, but it did seem this crew threw quite a few flags (on both teams) more so than I have seen in many other games. So I wouldn't say it is a problem with the Irish players when they went from 8 games with no Unsportsmanlike Conduct to several in 1 game. Could be just the crew. Bright future for Center Grove. They have totally improved from what I saw week 1 (Warren) and week 2 (New Pal). Their youth is growing up quickly! I will be interested to see what they can do come tournament time, Coach Moore is a great coach he will have his team ready. They play great defense don't let a lot of big plays go, and when the run game is clicking they can eat up clock! Jackson at QB is a gem that is looking good and still learning, he has quite the zip on his throws. Best of luck to the Trojans and Irish come tournament time.
  18. Should be here come game time: https://www.centergrovefootball.com/live
