  1. No dog in the fight. I will say Bishop Chatard has made the perfect choice in hiring Head Coach Rob Doyle. He was already on staff under legendary Coach Lorenzano. Yes in 3 years he is 30-10. His first season he was 7-6 losing at Danville in Regionals. However he was bringing a completely new Offensive scheme to Chatard in that first season which added the spread offense and throwing more than Chatard typically does. Year 2 was an 11-3 campaign with those 3 losses being to a very athletic Winton Woods OH, an extremely talented Covington Catholic KY, and an very good Evansville Memorial in Semi-State that went on to lose to West Lafayette in State 47-42. This year in year 3 their lone loss was to Cathedral 31-21 in a game I would say they were highly competitive in. The kids have grasped Doyle's Offense. They still throw the ball effectively but run the ball extremely well too. They still play Chatard hard nosed defense. I think the kids have really bought into Coach Doyle's system and you are seeing them flourish with it now that they are comfotable. Back to Heritage Hills vs Danville. The Patriots will be one of the better teams Danville has played this year. Danville has played 2 very solid teams this year in Mooresville and Western Boone. They will have to play extremely well to win the game. They can't have a slow start like they have in a few games if they want to win. This could be a close game, but if they start off slow like they did against V. Lincoln Heritage Hills could turn it in to a big win.
  2. Just because a DE is in the backfield doesn't mean they pushed the Offensive Line around with no trouble. Just because there were 8 TFL's (4 sacks) doesn't mean they pushed the Offensive Line around with no trouble. It wasn't a statement to put down Evansville Memorial Defensive Line or Defense so you don't have to get defensive. It was actually a compliment that they had a great game plan utilizing the speed they had and not letting a big O-line get hands on and a push.
  3. I wouldn't say that EM pushed Mooresville's line around with no trouble. I would say that Combs utilized his speed and quickness with inside-outside or outside-inside moves. The Tigers DC also did a good job using twists and stunts to try and create gaps to attack.
  4. It has been discussed and I agree 2 years is too short, the IHSAA should have used the IFCA 4 year proposal. One thing I do wish was that New Palestine was in the North bracket in 5A like last year. Only because I would have selfishly wanted to see New Palestine vs Cathedral for a State Championship. The crowd they had at New Pal for the Regional would have been great to see at Lucas Oil. That is just my own selfish want though.
  5. Determining Home Team Classes A, 3A & 5A *Regional non-host, if applicable, or lower sectional # (i.e., Sect. 1 is lower than Sect. 2). Classes 2A, 4A & 6A *Regional non-host, if applicable, or higher sectional # (i.e., Sect. 2 is higher than Sect. 1). *If regional winner has not hosted either sectional final or regional, that school will be the designated host. Both Chatard and Mishawaka Marian hosted Sectional Championship, and both Chatard and Mishawaka Marian played on the road in Regionals. So it defers to the lower sectional number Mishawaka Marian is Sectional 26 and Chatard is 28
  6. His dominance is a reflection of his work ethic. I have seen Indystar articles where Coach Ralph says he dedicates himself to the weight room. It definitely has paid off for the young man. Having watched the Cathedral @ New Pal game. There were definitely times he was stopped and tackled for minimal or no gain. The thing is with New Pal you have to play well against their O-line and tackle for 4 quarters. That is not even mentioning that their WR's are one of the more impressive downfield blocking teams I have watched all year. They just keep coming at you and wear you down. Once they wear you down Spegal starts to get to the secondary and ripping off yards in big chunks, he has a deceptive speed to him too.
  7. It was definitely a Student making dumb tweets. Unfortunately that’s what this day and age brings. Why I spend limited time on social media. If only some knew what they throw out there never goes away. It’s even a problem with current pro athletes ie Antonio Brown
  8. I was hoping you would respond! It was obvious the young man on Twitter was blatantly stirring the pot. I thought it was best to go to the source (member of the Irish tailgate) so @indycoach10 could see you can’t believe the bologna a young student throws in Twitter to insight.
  9. Actually it’s likely a New Pal student. Kids do and say stupid stuff.
  10. You and me both!. Granted I stated earlier that the HCC had to not only beat MIC teams in regular season, but they would first have to supplant them in the tournament. Still I had expected maybe 2 MIC teams, 1 HCC team, and 1 Duneland. Ends up 3 Mic 1 Duneland. Boy were my thoughts wrong!
  11. I will second this for sure. Did a tremendous job at East Central this year.
  12. By the way I just saw this on Twitter too. https://twitter.com/CathedralFBall/status/1196053045660078080 Amen to that!
  13. You completely missed my point. I am saying nobody is condoning a tweet by an adult that is affiliated with Cathedral. I already stated there are bad apples represented from every school. The few don't speak for the mass. In a positive thread by a non-Cathedral supporter about an experience they had and then another to back up that statement. I tagged you saying perhaps some of the kind generous adults that are Cathedral supporters (PHJIndy being one of those) could invite you to enjoy a free meal at one of their tailgates. You had to proceed with more negativity. That being said nobody knows if the young man "correctly" called out the Irish Tailgaters, or snatched a photo to make it seem that way (judging from his other tweets it could be very likely). Yes kids make dumb comments and so do adults, and adults should definitely know better than to make the dumb comments. I wasn't pointing out that judging by the young mans tweets, the validity of the tweet with the photos and what he calls out goes way down for me. I will also state @CaptainHook was very respectful (while I'm sure in his mind a little incensed) and just gave facts and let the rest take care of itself. Just my opinion.
  14. So what you are showing me is that there is a young man that makes comments like this: https://twitter.com/LarryMcCockine3/status/1195483646389575680 https://twitter.com/LarryMcCockine3/status/1195356915078979584 And then because this young man posted a photo with neatly bagged trash it is deemed the Irish tailgate just left trash there. However this young man may not know what may or may not have been worked out with New Pal staff. Was it even truly the Irish tailgate in that spot. No idea or speculation on my part either way because I wasn't there or part of the Irish tailgate. @PHJIrish was likely there and may be able to elaborate Great job though on trying to stir things up. I'll show respectful adult behavior and wish Mt. Vernon and New Palestine all the best next week against Evansville Memorial and Bloomington South and have no ill will towards any teams. @CaptainHook knows I have the most respect for Coach Ralph and the Dragons, I feel the same for Coach Kirschner. May you have a great day sir.
  15. Perhaps @PHJIrish can invite @indycoach10 to a game and to come to a tailgate to witness this himself to show that the far few bad apples don't out weigh the many. Plus he gets some free food win win!
  16. Maybe I should have said success builds hatred. I absolutely agree it is grounded in envy.
  17. Good to see a positive post. I will say keep in mind most concession stands are made in mind to make a profit without a large expense. Usually they are ran by a group within the school to make money for equipment or gear. Like say the school band or other sports that don't make the revenue other sports do to deflect cost to the parents. Just something to keep in mind.
  18. I must have missed something. At any rate in my personal opinion success builds hate. I have seen it with Chatard, Cathedral, Ben Davis, Warren Central, Center Grove, Pioneer, Sheridan, F.W Luers, and you start to see it with New Pal since Coach Ralph has taken over. You even see it at the collegiate level ie Alabama. Professional level ie Patriots. Even other sports ie Lakers and Yankees. Every school across the state has their few bad apples (be it parents, fans, students). Don't judge the lump some of a group by the ignorant behavior of a few. I'm sure Mt. Vernon and New Palestine have some knuckleheads among them as well.
  19. How is it embarrassing for Cathedral fans? You're playing the #1 team in Class 5A one of the best teams in the State. A coaching staff that is 86-4. Their team had some key turnovers forced by New Pal and New Pal took advantage being very opportunistic. I don''t see any of that being embarrassing.at all. Just a tough game between two great teams.
  20. My favorite Indystar quote of all time came today by Coach Ralph: “He should have worked harder,” New Palestine coach Kyle Ralph joked when told Spegal fell just short of 300 rushing yards.
  21. Unfortunately for everyone else New Pal's coaching staff and players will be focusing on Bloomington South starting today. They'll leave all the prognosticating and word diarrhea to all the GID pro's!
  22. If I am correct and New Palestine wins State this year, then next year winning a Regional would bump them up to 6A. I believe those 2 things would give them 6 points. is my math correct @dmizers3 and @Olympian06.
