  1. Can you elaborate?
  2. Just boring old power Wishbone, assignment football. You can't try to blitz or predict against the Wishbone.
  3. No. Mater Dei played a 3A/4A city schedule in the SIAC. They'll be fine and have THE most disciplined coach in the state. I foresee no problems on that or the traveling fronts.
  4. It's not and never have been. The picks are likely Sagarin mixed in with Harrels opinion. Maybe he has a formula, but I am not aware.
  5. Where are our friends from Batesville. I'd be very interested to hear their input, given as how they are the only EIAC team HH has history with. HH will be just fine. How many Wishbone teams has Lawrenceburg faced? A scrambling quarterback has presented problems to HH over the years, but this is probably the best LB and DL HH has had in more than a decade. Picking on No. 3 could be a grave mistake if that's the route the Tigers take. We all saw him playing the ball, after a harsh Monday reminder, watch for the masked corner cover.
  6. In on Page 2 of what's likely to be the longest game thread of 2019.
  7. It's the last time I've heard Chatard described as unbeatable, and debeatedly the best team in school history. Let's see how the next two weeks play out and then we will have a nice discussion leading up to the state finals.
  8. I doubt this team is better than the 2004 Chatard team but think as you want. With teenagers anything can happen.
  9. Crawford County like Pike Central has a whole host of socioeconomic problems. Additionally, Crawford has zero football tradition and other fall sports like CC are regularly state final participants. Many schools in SW Indiana have strong athletic programs like Bare-Reeve and Loogootee and NE Dubois. Cooping makes a lot of sense in that part of the state.
  10. Game Day. Who is bringing home hardware? Post scores and updates for the game(s) you are following or tweet them @gridirondigest Enjoy November football.
  11. Zoysia is what Christmas Lake Golf Course (Santa Claus). It turns brown by October. It needs pretty sandy soil to grow, so as a football playing surface, I don't think it would fare well because the roots are very shallow. Perhaps there's a hybrid that is better suited for non - golf applications.
  12. Good luck Castle. Let's get PAC/SIAC/Big8 sweeps in every sectional that the SW Indiana conferences fielded teams in. I may have to learn the Castle fight song soon. My niece is enrolled in kindergarten in Newburgh.
  13. If only North Spencer could afford the luxory of field turf... So silly. Regardless of where this game is played, I believe the Raiders' air attack will be in full force. If they are able to get a two score lead, then they'll fall back on the Wing T. Special teams are likely to be the difference if field conditions force conservative play calling.
  14. Perhaps the officials or assignees already do? @Bobref @Impartial_Observer
  15. They pray harder. I've heard, but it's only an unconfirmed rumor, that the prayers are in Latin. By God, such speech could never be allowed on public school grounds, let alone a team pregame communion. And they say it was grape juice, not wine on public school grounds!
  16. Pike is probably the best option as a fan. Actually, Franklin Central if you are coming from the south, but is no way a "home field" for Chatard, which I think they should have at the semistate level...whether it's Arlington or Broad Ripple. SW Indiana is driving three hours, we really don't care. To that point, Chatard by statistical chance, has hosted far more semistates than it has traveled for. Call it luck.
  17. I never had a problem with the 2005 game. Went with @dawgieinthepound from Bloomington. Now that I'm of age, and have many friends in the Broad Ripple area, I would definitely do the trip differently. HH (or any team against Chatard from a Central timezone in SW Indiana) typically ends up played on Saturdays. However, the 2001 and 2003 games were at Arlington (also a fine facility) and the 2004 game at Franklin Central (all Fridays, if memory serves me correctly). But yes Sgt. Cox does seem to have final say.
  18. The Raiders await to board the Pirates ship by night and slash some EIAC throats. A Tiger's coat would make a nice prize under a sectional trophy. Meanwhile, the Patriots are priming their rifles and are equally capable of sniping Tigers or Buccaneers from the Jungle or testing their sealegs. Week 12? The PAC fears no weak from the east.
  19. The line did look exhausted when they blocked that game winning FG. I can assure you that conditioning has never been a problem for HH. Even in their best years, 7-11 players played two ways, and Zionsville, Roncalli, Chatard, and others never wore them down. I doubt you'll see it now.
  20. Can they both lose? At least some controversy so neither can claim absolute victory. Really though, I'm torn. I want Memorial to win, but I don't want them to gain success points so they can return to 3A. Regardless, it's impressive for Central to have continued success given its history over the years. A strong Central program benifits all of Evansville and SW Indiana.
  21. Hmm, other news maybe two Gordos in Paradise this weekend? Gordon Engelhardt from the Evansville CP and Jim Gordillo from the Bloomington HT. Again a big maybe, but both have given decades to their respective communities and I believe both should be in the Indiana Sportswriters Hof. Let's see who gets the assignments. Proud to call both former colleagues.
  22. Southridge (Eastern) will travel southeast to bordering Heritage Hills (Central). All of a 5-25 minute drive depending on where in southwest Dubois County you live. It's much better to travel from an Eastern time zone to Central than vice versa. You may get home later, but you get an hour more between school letting out and kickoff, in most cases.
  23. Guaranteed a PAC vs. EIAC Regional. Has anyone worked out where it would be played? I don't believe Heritage Hills or Southridge have ever played Lawrenceburg or Greensburg. The PAC has much respect for the EIAC dating back to the Batesville days. The bus rides? Not so much.
