  1. I'm with you! But all schools and counties must do what is best for them. We are still a go but we have lost some games: LaPorte is our scrimmage opponent hopefully they get going so we can play next week, Northridge on 9/11, Concord on 10/2, Goshen on 10/9 and Northwood on 10/16. Hopefully we can still have the Goshen and Northwood games. But I don't think we will be able to play the Northridge and Concord games.
  2. I wonder about the student sections. The idea of families sitting close is fine as long as they maintain social distance from other families. But student sections have always been kids close to other kids.
  3. This idea of" being a spectator is a privilege "would be a great slogan for the IHSAA during this time.
  4. Taking temperatures should be the parents responsibility. This article in the Indy Star gives a view of how parents will check their kids. Scary if these same parents use this way of sending their kids into my classroom.
  5. Do you know if the IHSAA has approved the transfer already or not? If they have this will allow schools close to the state line to increase their enrollment and make more money.
  6. I know that inside facilities have to include everyone involved players, coaches, admin, etc..in their count to 250. I would assume that this would somehow apply to a football facility. Wouldn't be nice if the IHSAA would come up with a plan for outdoor sports and fans? Local officials are trying to get schools started safely and for them to have to also worry about athletics is wrong. All the IHSAA has to worry about is sports and they won't make a ruling on anything.
  7. I hope he can play especially if he is a D-1 player and can get some film out for maybe a better offer. But even if he is on the roster he still needs to get IHSAA approval for the transfer before he can play.
  8. The 250 people include the players, coaches, administrators, workers, and fans. So the teams would have to limit who came to the game to make room for everyone else.
  9. Here is a document from the IHSAA that relates to transfers. I read down to end of the document to #11. Can they prove the transfer wasn't for athletic reasons? They meet the requirement for eligibility if they move to Fort Wayne but can they meet the requirement for #11a and also undue influence in #12. This will be a tricky thing for the IHSAA, not just in this case but also in any school along the state line that gets transfers from Illinois. Athletic Eligibility.pdf
  10. I spoke to one of our coaches yesterday and we have around 60 kids out. My son who is a Senior (but not a football player) said that there are about only 8 Seniors out and 17 9th graders. I agree that if the room is there you should allow more than just Seniors to attend. I have attached what Phase 4.5 says. I'm guessing this is what schools will have to follow. So reading this, if groups stay socially distanced and wear a mask then they can attend the game. How many people will do that?
  11. No one is saying they can't play. We need to have some accountability. Our kids need to learn about doing what is best for all. Go to school, WEAR A MASK/KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE, go to practice, WEAR A MASK (when you can)/KEEP SOCIAL DISTANCE (when you can), go home after practice. Repeat! If our kids, teachers, and coaches did that we will be able to play! Just because the number of fans is being limited shouldn't be a problem, if this is about the kids. Follow the rules and we can have football.
  12. Here is my suggestion: Make a minimum number of games that each team needs to play to qualify for the sectional. That number can be determined by the IFCA. Then once the season is over, we take all of the teams that are available and list them by enrollment. If we stay status quo we will divided them into six classes using the ratio we use now. Then play the tournament. If a team has an outbreak during the tourney they forfeit the game and their opponent moves on. I believe that we should play but it needs to be safely. I know at my school though we are starting virtual, which I disagree with. We are allowing our athletes to opt for the full 9 weeks of virtual learning. The issue I have as a teacher is that those students will not be taking electives and some of them may miss out on dual credit if it is through Ivy Tech. My own son in college now will get a degree in Software engineering in three years from Trine University. The free Dual Credit courses he took in college will save him (i.e. us) around $25,000. Each family can make their own decisions, I hope they get all of the facts from their schools as to what that may be. Lastly to play safe we need to make sure that masks are worn at all times in schools, that social distancing is mandatory in schools, that sick kids and teachers stay home without repercussions, and that fans that attend games socially distance themselves and wear masks. Any outbreak that is attributed to the school will look bad and schools will shut down. If our goal is to get kids in the classroom and on the field we ALL need to follow the rules. This won't last forever.
  13. Wrong! Bad math. 330,000,000 people haven't gotten sick. You can't include people who haven't gotten sick yet as The current U.S. number is 4,473,974 cases and 151,499 deaths. This is per the CDC. 151,499/4,473,974 is 3.38% death rate. Now using YOUR 328,000,000 number of US residents and they if they all get sick we will see 9,840,000 deaths. You can't throw numbers around and not understand what you are saying. I hope you aren't a math teacher.
  14. NFHS is offering a streaming service. But there is a subscription involved. A portion of the money goes to your school but NFHS get s the rest.
  15. Again with this number. Where does it come from? The only person publicly to say it was POTUS. He then goes on to endorse Dr. Stella Immanuel. I guess when you want the numbers t oback your facts you will get them from anywhere you can.
  16. I wonder if having baseball and softball during the summer might be a better thing than the spring anyway?
  17. So you are fine with this? You are losing the purpose of our game. It is to teach these young men that the whole is greater than the individual. When our older citizens are at risk we must protect them. Your lack of empathy for your fellow football enthusiasts is a problem.
  18. If we follow science and not fear then we need to look at the numbers in Indiana. Things are on the rise and we need to be safe. If we don't consider slowing down we are a part of the problem. To call this a joke means you are narrow-minded and don''t have a grasp on what in going on throughout the state.
  19. We all know that in your area of the state things are much worse than ours. You have all the answers but don't want to hear the others thoughts. Everyone has their own problems and yours aren't any worse than theirs. Get off your high horse.
  20. I'm sure by week 2 there will some schools in your area who will need to find an opponent also.
  21. My body my choice? The selfishness of that comment is enough for me. You are an idiot. This isn't a veiled shot it is the truth. @Bobref is a thousand times the official you are and it sounds like he is a thousand times the man you are. I feel sorry for you and your belief system and I hope your students won't listen to your drivel. I'm still waiting on your 99.9%.
