Covid 19 testing losing team question?
Plymouthfan91 replied to Whiting89's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Thanks @foxbat. I thought that others have faced this is their schools/teams. I too have had numerous quarantined students. I was looking for this from the CD for @DE to look at. I guess his school doesn't know about or follow the CDC guidelines. A long story short, quarantine means that you MAY have been exposed but you MAY also be healthy. The idea of the quarantine is so you don't spread the virus before you know you have it. Plus a negative test doesn't mean that you wouldn't have it at any point during the incubation period. So a negative test doesn't dismiss you from the quarantine. If we all followed the rules of the experts instead we wouldn't be facing the issues we are facing today. -
Covid 19 testing losing team question?

If they were healthy they wouldn't need to quarantine. You may change your name but you still don't know what you are talking about. -
There were a lot of questions after Winkle's injury. But the coaches changed some things and I feel we have the best athlete left in the sectional in #7. We have as good a chance as anyone.

4A predictions

Wrong. -
You all forgot one thing...The game is played on the field not on paper. The NIC is weak. How New Prairie won five games is beyond me. They showed no toughness and they ran everything wide nothing between the tackles. They were by far much bigger but they were also much softer. #7 Reichard is the real deal. 49 carries last night! With the loss by KV looks like this sectional is wide open.

OK - I'm just going to do it - SEEDING!

I do agree that the games don't need the adrenaline boost. But instead of an all-in format let's take the teams that don't qualify and give them one more game. Maybe a game against another 0-9 team so one of them can get a win. If they were in the tourney they both would finish without a win. Plus one less playoff game for the teams in the playoffs so they don't get hurt in a meaningless blowout. Less knocks on the head means less chance of concussion. -

I think we all can also agree that the number of quality officiating crews available for sectional games would be better we had a play-in tournament. I also think that if this was done we should offer the opportunity for those who don't make it to play a 10th game. Play them on the Saturday after the first round playoff Friday games are played. Allow schools to find an opponent that they are even with. It would be great to see two 0-9 teams who are struggling play and get a chance for that first W. These games could be anywhere in the state. Imagine Lake Station vs. Cloverdale. Two teams that are struggling getting a chance to play for that Win. -
Interesting idea. I work the games at Plymouth and I would love to see more football after we are eliminated. (Our quarantine is killing me!). If we had better locker room facilities for football I would say we could host a semi-state as well. But I'm sure there are schools with better facilities that would host those games.

Marian - Elkhart Game Cancelled

A student in quarantine should, I repeat SHOULD get tested after they reach five days after their close contact. Even if they don't have symptoms. If they are positive and asymptomatic they have a 3 month window where they won't be considered a close contact. So they won't have to quarantine again during that time. They will still have to serve the rest of their 14 day quarantine from the original close contact but they won't have to serve one again. I have mentioned this to kids in my class who are currently in quarantine and a couple have tested positive. But when they return to school on Monday they now have a three month window where they won't be a close contact and hopefully they have the antibodies to fight future infections. The reason for the quarantine is so if they are positive they won't pass the virus on to others who it may hurt. This is science! I don't understand that even though we are 8 months into this people are still in denial. We have been in live school since August and we have had some bumps with illness and close contact but we are still pressing on. This is for our kids and the just IN CASE will save people's lives. Listen to the science not the social media nor the news... -
Michigan City Suspends Season
Plymouthfan91 replied to Tommy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
These two goons are idiots. We are trying to keep the spread down so kids CAN play. Hopefully none of the players or other coaches are sick. Obviously Howe doesn't trust science and that is why he still follows the herd immunity idea. For Herd Immunity to happen safely we need a vaccine until then we need to slow the spread so our hospitals aren't overrun with the sick. The stupidity of the uneducated is why we are in the mess we are in right now. If only we listened in May and June and opened slowly, wore masks, and avoided large gatherings we would have this much more under control. All kids would be in LIVE school and we would've avoided a lot of sickness and death in our country. -
Rules Question about the Rugby Style Punt: If the punter rolls to his right looking to pass then punts the ball. Can the rest of the punt team be down the field before the ball is punted? In the Plymouth/Kokomo game this occurred and a buddy and I were watching the stream and we were arguing if that was legal or not.

I have streamed both of games using the IHSAA channel on Roku. The first game between Plymouth and East Noble was $10. The camera work wasn't very good and the announcers were local radio people who couldn't pronounce a name correctly. I could handle them being homers because local radio should be but for $10 a consumer should get better camera work. This week I found a "FREE" stream of the Plymouth vs. Kokomo game and it was excellent. It was sponsored by FastPlaySports. The video was like watching a decent game film but they included replays and best of all the announcers were teachers at Kokomo I think. They were talking about the Kokomo players in the classroom and saying things that teachers would say about kids. Even though we lost I enjoyed the viewing experience. So the streaming is a great way to view a game when you can't be there live but if someone is to charge for the service they should have to have a certain quality of video and an announcing team that is entertaining but not annoying. But go to the IHSAA channel and you can watch a lot of different games throughout the state. Some are free.

List of canceled and newly scheduled games
Plymouthfan91 replied to Rudy's topic in The Indiana High School Football Forum
Bring a kid back too early and they get hurt. Who's going to protect you, the coach, in court? Not the IHSAA and by not following these rules you aren't watching out for kids you are watching out for your own selfish needs. -

Remember Phil Lee is the guy who doesn't understand the value of the 10 practice rule for player safety either... -

Well how many do you think are going to get it? The question is how many deaths are we willing to say is enough before people start to take this seriously. The deaths aren't as concerning as the fact that we don't know the long term effects even if you are asymptomatic. Plus how long do the antibodies last? Can you catch it again? I would much rather see us be overly cautious until we have a vaccine that works than the opposite. As we learn more about the virus then we can maybe let go of some of the mitigation. But I do agree we shouldn't live in fear but we need to live in respect. -
Latest Cases Effecting Teams

It's an election year. Have a mask mandate but don't enforce it. This will make a majority of voters happy. Public health and personal responsibility aren't important. I'm going to apply this in my classroom tomorrow. -

Let's take that number compared to the 330,000,000 Americans. That would be a shade under 20,000,000 people. I hope that doesn't include someone you care about... -

There is proof that asymptomatic carriers that go into large groups are the super spreaders that lead to outbreaks. The CDC by not testing all individuals that have a close contact are going against what epidemiologists have been saying all along. This is a political move because the federal government dropped the ball on testing and by rushing a reopening of the country when they didn't meet the requirements of re-opening. We can beat this and have football but we have only played one week and if we pretend that this isn't real we will pay for our arrogance. -
All I know is that we under a state mask mandate and phase 4.5 still because people didn't listen to SCIENCE! This isn't political in any way. If we would've followed the SCIENCE and wore masks in public, kept social distancing, and didn't get together in large gatherings we wouldn't be having the cancellations we are seeing now. I'm not calling anyone names I am just stating facts.

Again you are a part of the problem. That is why we are in the situation we are in. The selfishness of some people are why we can't get a handle on this.
