  1. I watched the 3rd and part of the 4th quarter and I was more concerned with the field conditions. That field was entirely mud. This wasn't a true indication of how good these two teams were. We live in a time where a lot of schools have turf fields. You can't tell me that there wasn't a school nearby who wasn't using their field that could've allowed this game to played there? I feel bad that some of these kids had to end their season playing in those conditions.
  2. Not to mention the band using the field to prepare for their ISSMA contests. Having a turf field allows everyone to use the field. Even in the spring I have seen baseball and softball using our turf.
  3. This is from the NFHS stats manual. The last line in the definition of a first down says "This includes a touchdown play." So I believe on any touchdown that is scored via passing/rushing from scrimmage should also result in a first down for the offense.
  4. Having seen both East Noble and Northridge live when they played us, I will have to agree with NLCTiger and say that East Noble is better than Northridge, or at least when we played them. East Noble has some playmakers on offense that I didn't Ridge having. But there is still a lot of football to play and we got Wawasee this week. Good Luck to all NLC schools tonight and stay healthy.
  5. All I did was walk with them as I was leaving the game. I usually talk to them when officials come to Plymouth. I asked their thoughts on that last play. So...the standard is to repeat poor sportsmanship? Hopefully the new AD at ridge will take care of that attitude.
  6. Until Plymouth figures out how to play defense better we are just the medicine you need.
  7. Dude it was a running clock. Take a knee. The officials after the game even told me it was the worst display of sportsmanship they had seen in a while.
  8. I think that there are a lot of valid points with all of this. I still believe that the major issue with athletics in our state is that kids don't get free time away. Our football team was doing things in the gym starting in December and used the open facilities to their fullest. If you have seen us play it hasn't helped. When most of us played in the 80's and 90's we had our season, if we wrestled or played basketball we did that, then we went to our spring sport. I played three sports and never had to practice a sport out of season. During the summer we had weights for football three days a week for an hour or two and open gyms for basketball once to twice a week for a couple of hours. These were in the evening so kids could work and if someone didn't show up the coaches didn't get their panties in a bundle. We are asking too much of kids and they decide to give up these activities so they can work, chase girls, or do something on their own. They don't need to have a coach telling them they need to lift, do 7 on 7, show up to walk throughs then go to basketball and play two leagues a week and go to workouts/open gyms. Then attend team camps on the weekends. Kids that want to work or have to work to make money so they can have a car or just some cash to take their girls out to dinner can't do that and play sports. When you make kids choose they will choose. Don't be upset when they don't choose what you want them to.
  9. Why throw the deep pass on the last play of the game?
  10. I like the extra day. Play on Thanksgiving instead. I know people will not like it but it is for a state title. Pick the 2 match-ups that are closest to Indy and play on Thursday.
  11. Sounds like a Trump rally or maybe one of his Rose Garden get togethers. We are turning the corner though.
  12. Not true! I thought after the election it was going to disappear. There have been cases of re-infection. How is this a great job? I know you are silly and don't trust anything that is scientific but to say that is a great job is idiocy.
  13. I guess it didn't matter. We gave up two long TD passes in the first half and couldn't score until the second half. Our kids fought hard but CMA had a good game plan and we didn't start the game well. Congrats to CMA and the championship between Mike Johnson and Andy Dorrel will be one to watch. Good luck to both teams.
  14. This game is being played in Plymouth. CMA isn't allowing opposing schools to bring fans to its "bubble". So they told the IHSAA they were playing all games on the road. Will this change your mind?
  15. Only if you expect to still coach after attending the family event. If you put your family first then don't go around the kids.
  16. Why was NP missing players? I also thought that Plymouth was by far the most aggressive. NP stayed on the perimeter while they had the size advantage inside. Our QB is the best athlete in the sectional.
  17. Thanks @foxbat. I thought that others have faced this is their schools/teams. I too have had numerous quarantined students. I was looking for this from the CD for @DE to look at. I guess his school doesn't know about or follow the CDC guidelines. A long story short, quarantine means that you MAY have been exposed but you MAY also be healthy. The idea of the quarantine is so you don't spread the virus before you know you have it. Plus a negative test doesn't mean that you wouldn't have it at any point during the incubation period. So a negative test doesn't dismiss you from the quarantine. If we all followed the rules of the experts instead we wouldn't be facing the issues we are facing today.
  18. If they were healthy they wouldn't need to quarantine. You may change your name but you still don't know what you are talking about.
  19. There were a lot of questions after Winkle's injury. But the coaches changed some things and I feel we have the best athlete left in the sectional in #7. We have as good a chance as anyone.
  20. You all forgot one thing...The game is played on the field not on paper. The NIC is weak. How New Prairie won five games is beyond me. They showed no toughness and they ran everything wide nothing between the tackles. They were by far much bigger but they were also much softer. #7 Reichard is the real deal. 49 carries last night! With the loss by KV looks like this sectional is wide open.
  21. I do agree that the games don't need the adrenaline boost. But instead of an all-in format let's take the teams that don't qualify and give them one more game. Maybe a game against another 0-9 team so one of them can get a win. If they were in the tourney they both would finish without a win. Plus one less playoff game for the teams in the playoffs so they don't get hurt in a meaningless blowout. Less knocks on the head means less chance of concussion.
  22. I think we all can also agree that the number of quality officiating crews available for sectional games would be better we had a play-in tournament. I also think that if this was done we should offer the opportunity for those who don't make it to play a 10th game. Play them on the Saturday after the first round playoff Friday games are played. Allow schools to find an opponent that they are even with. It would be great to see two 0-9 teams who are struggling play and get a chance for that first W. These games could be anywhere in the state. Imagine Lake Station vs. Cloverdale. Two teams that are struggling getting a chance to play for that Win.
  23. Interesting idea. I work the games at Plymouth and I would love to see more football after we are eliminated. (Our quarantine is killing me!). If we had better locker room facilities for football I would say we could host a semi-state as well. But I'm sure there are schools with better facilities that would host those games.
