The Squirrel thought the WRC was NUTS and I'm talking macadamia not WalNut. OT, Woofs almost beating the PATS, and the longest game I ever kept eyes on in Clinton. The Squirrel has been deep in thought in deciding this week's power ranking and again I am not NUTS, but I like nuts.

1. SV- Was rough at times Friday for the Wildcats. Last true chance for anyone in the WRC to take them down, but I like the Wildcats to win and they can go on their victory parade for 3 weeks.

2. NV- Alot of guts out of the Falcons Friday and the squirrel now thinks the Botner/Moore debate is over. The kid is a stud and the Falcons played the spoiler in Mecca.

3. Trojans- Played well and did some good stuff and I think they will be a dark horse come october.

4. RP- Blew a 13-0 lead at home on Homecoming. Now that is NUTS. Kids lack discipline and their shot at conference is dead. Unless they pull off a Nutty upset friday.

5. FC- Win 201 was easy for Herb, but it is a winning streak.

6. Patriots- Man that was close. Maybe Next Year

7. Woofs- A potential dark horse? Great showing friday, even though the result was not they hoped this is improvement.

8. Ramblers- Stay the course

Attica @ NV - NV pulled off a huge win last week. Last I heard they were down 13-0 at halftime I believe. Great win for Arod and the Falcons. I also think the Botner kid is the best back in the conference and one of the best we've seen in a while. NV by as much as they want

Covington @ PH - Battle of the dark horses. I think Covington is just better. Better athletes, better lineman but I think PH will want to win more. This one will come down to the last couple of play. Covington 34 PH 30

FC @ Seeger - I want so badly to pick the Herbies on this one.... I know he wants this win BAD. He has yet to beat Seeger since he left them. I think he's going to pull out all the tricks on this one. Sadly, I just don't think it'll be enough. The winning streaks ends for the Mustangs on Friday. (If it was at FC I'd take them) Seeger wins this one 28 - 21

RP @ SV - I think we all hope this game will be closer than what it actually will be. SV will have a running clock in the second half.

NV - poor Attica, haven't been good since, well, Good left

Woofs - had Seeger on the ropes, need to eliminate the stupid penalties.  Finally get over the hump Friday.

FC - they won't let Seeger off the hook like the Woofs did

SV - disappointing result last week for the tenderloins, won't get any better this week.  Not enough mustard and pickles in Mecca to pull this one out.

Chill out there mom's spaghetti. I think the run for third place is something to keep an eye on. I think RP, Seeger, Covington and FC are still are playing for something and can keep things interesting

You sure do have a stiffy for the little Trojans.

Week 6 shouldn’t be much surprises this week.
Attica travels to The Northside. Enough said. NV by a landslide

Down in Mecca the Visors go to the Tenderloins. I like how RP held the ball most the game against north vermillion, maybe they use this tactic again but the visors offense will over power the Tenderloins. I guess we can say to get the parades started for another conference title running around Clinton. SV 42 RP 26

Ponies and Mel Gibsons up in Veedersburg. Seeger seems to be finding some kind of rhythm, not sure if it’s a good one or not. Give me the Ponies 35-21

Woofs at the Rubber Complex. At least basketball season is right around the corner . Rubbers get a win before taking on The Gibsons. Rubbers 35 Woofs 12.

see yall next week

Knees are a little weak, but I dont think its a question who ends in third.. Nobody else is going to beat RP.  Seeger's 3 wins are teams with a combined record of 1-14.. one being PH who's only win is Attica.

FC beat Covington, and unless Seeger proves me wrong and beats the stangs, they are solidified as 4th. Then Seeger, PH, and Attica rounding out the rest.

Boring..

Do you think FC has a chance to beat NV or SV? Or at least make those games close? Ole Herb knows a thing or two about winning big ball games

Falcons possibly but not the mega school

Time for the Squirrel to make his Nut-tasic picks for the week. Everybody is saying this week will be boring but believe the squirrel you never know when something nutty can Happen.

Attica @ NV- This is a gimme for the Falcons. Mercy Rule win by the North Side

Covington @ Woofs- I know I've been giving the trojans some love but they do have a pattern. It is in Parke County and Covington has showed they play down to their opponents, so in my nutfest game of the week the Squirrel is making a nuttttttttttyyyyyyyyy pick. Give me the woofs 34-29

Fc @ Seeger- Herb hasn't beat the pats since he was let go. I like the Stangs in this one as they get herb win 202. FC wins 26-16

RP @ Visors- Can RP pull off an Upset, or will the Visors take care of buisness. If this game is a shoot out the wildcats all day, however if RP can keep the ball and handle the clock, I wouldn't count it out. I think more than any week this week comes down to how good the SV line can play this week. If they play good SV will win by Mercy. I am going with my gut that is full of nuts here. SV wins 27-20.

Depending on the draw, October might just as boring. With who the 1A's have in their sectional not seeing any "cinderella men" coming out of there. South Vermillion might be the only chance for a deep playoff run from anyone, and I think there's a couple teams in their sectional that can beat them. The WRC is gonna have to go "Berserk" if they want to see their conference have any success this playoffs.

The Visors won’t get out of their sectional and I’ll say it right to your face

Week 6, Friday night weather is looking like it could be a factor...

Attica @ North Vermillion - Ramblers keep showing up. Ramblers keep playing. Somethings gonna give eventually. Hats off to the Falcons, helluva job! Way to fight back at RP. Enjoy this week. NV by whatever they want

Covington @ Parke Heritage - This one is usually a dandy. The Trojans look pretty decent at times, yet so do the Woolfs. Both need a win. Highest overall scoring game of the night. Again, this one is gonna be a dandy. Cov 36 PH 34

Fountain Central @ Seeger - The Mustangs always seem to get better as the season goes. Herb keeps them fighting. The Patriots showed some grit fighting back last week. Third consecutive home game and some confidence will go a long way. Seeger nips Herb, again. Seeger 28 FC 24

Riverton Parke @ South Vermillion - The Panthers are still better than you think. How do they respond this week? Weather forecast seems to favor RP's style over SV's style. Hopefully the Visors haven't loaded up on too much pasta and tanning oil. I'm not buying the running clock hype. This one should be interesting. RP 21 SV 20

let’s talk about Andrew Botner. The Cayenne Pepper Andrew Botner debate has come to a close. Botner is red hot. He is taking the conference as the best back. Reminds me of that Earl Kid in 2014. Botner is hot and I’ll say it right to your face. He better be all conference and that is state law. He is the lead guy in the North Vermillion offense

I agree. He is one of the best players in the conference. I wish teams would put stats in just so we could see what kind of numbers these kids are actually putting up.

Botner is a very gifted athlete, but Earl was one of a kind and I don't think the conference has seen talent like that at the running back position before and after Earl's playing days. Again Botner is really really good but Earl was the greatest RB the conference has ever seen and Earl put up all his stats against teams in their prime. Attica was a top 10 team, FC was a top 5 team, Rockville was in the top 10. The conference hasn't had that in awhile where multiple teams are in the top of the state and I hope it gets back to that.

I don’t think so, no.
35-12 NV

48-7 SV

After watching what he did to us last week, he’s definitely great. We had no answer.

I’m sorry, but he’s not close to Earl. I was apart of a staff that had to try and stop Earl on more than one occasion.. it didn't happen. I believe he was top 50 in the state either in the 14 or 15 season. For a small school like north vermillion, that recognition typically doesn’t happen. I believe he ran for 2k at least a couple of times.. but NV at the time was beating most teams badly enough (us included) that Earl didn’t play in the second half. Who knows what kind of stats he would’ve put up playing full games.

I do wish teams put their stats in more frequently. It’s not like people don’t have access to film, and us that aren’t coaching anymore like to see the top dogs.

There were plenty of players as good or better than Earl in the ode days, I swear to God there was. Ever heard of Josh Smith?

I’m very aware of Josh Smith..

Leads me to another question. How many football players have gone D1 in the WRC since the 90s? Other than Smith.

Probably none but I thought James Kent from Rockville could have.
