Not Really, I don't expect it to be close . Crown Point is supposed to be better than last year and Penn is not as good as last year . Just hoping Penn can keep it to 1-2 scores and that is asking a lot .

Penn has to find a way to keep their offense on the field. If they can play keep away from CP, this will bode in their favor. I think Penn's D is the only group that has improved from week to week. I know it has not been against CP caliber teams, but from week 1 to now, that is a better group of players....with a large number of them returning next year.

If the O cannot stay on the field....good night and see you next season.

Looking forward to an exciting game. I hope its a close one and in Penn’s favor. Both sides of the ball have their work cut out for them. Defense is definitely going to give up some scores, can the O keep up? Definitely more intrigued after some shakes up on the offensive side of the ball last week. Go Penn!

Yeah, hard to imagine Penn can exploit the passing game like last season even if CP's defense turns out to be about the same.

As a CP fan I would have to say turnovers will be the key to this game. CP starting defense has only allowed 3 touchdowns all season, all other points came after they were pulled. I know the strength of schedule is low but they have just smothered other offenses all year. If Penn is one dimensional its going to be tough for them to score so they will need to limit the CP offense by getting turnovers. As a fan I hope this game is as entertaining as last year's but by reading this forum and other outlets it might be business as usual for CP, either way, is it Friday yet?!

CP rolls Penn!!

As you stated, the only way Penn is in this game is if CP has multiple turnovers. CP defense is way better than last years squad.
CP starters have not played an entire game this season. This is a concern for me as they continue in the playoffs. Conditioning and not used to playing in pressure/tight games or situations.

I think they played in enough close games last year that at this point with this team in CP null and void.    Been there done that

Go Bulldogs

Good point. Outside of the move in from Tennessee who is going to Ball State, I believe all of their top talent were starters last season. I'm fairly certain the QB going to Miami(OH) has been a starter since his Freshman year at Hobart. He's solid. I really like the way Crown Point plays offensively. A good mix of power running out of jumbo sets and efficient passing plays with Ehrling. The TE going to Indiana State and the 6'2 220'ish ATH who is a Junior and already has power conference offers are very nice options in the passing game. Buzea and Co. know how to scheme offense.

I wouldn't be surprised if Penn hung around for a while. The Kingsmen are arguably the toughest team Crown Point will have played all year. Might take a while to get into a good rhythm. Penn's passing attack kept this game from turning into a blowout last year. They tore apart the CP secondary. No idea if Penn can still throw the ball around this year.

Merrillville > Penn

And we saw that final score…

Arguably, Merrillville is CP’s toughest opponent this season not Penn. Penn won in a shootout over a very average Valpo team.

Posted at the same time, lol.

I haven’t seen Penn play since Week 1 vs Valpo. The qb appeared to be the only weapon on offense in that game. Have they developed other offensive weapons? Also their defense looked undersized, has that changed? If not, CP will run right down their throat and then mix in play action to both TE’s who are very good athletes.

Penn schedule not impressive for a 6A school. I know they can’t do much about that but they are in for an entire different level of football this Friday.

Sounds like they play a comparable strength of schedule.

Fair points. I guess I view Merrillville the same way @temptation and many others view Brownsburg in the playoffs: I don't trust the Pirates.

I agree. I don’t trust Merrillville either but they still are the best team CP faced or will face through Penn game.

Merrillville always has a very talented team but finds ways to lay an egg in playoffs.

Why do you want to see Penn win?

I have always had great respect for the Penn program going back to the 80’s and the many battles Snider had with Penn. Nothing against CP at all, just sometimes like to see some old rivals do well

It's a Snider/Penn thing, as Komets stated. Programs go way back. Both historically good, kind of like Notre Dame/Michigan. Lot's of respect, never really chippy. Well played games, very few cheap shots.

Do tell.

Snider/Penn games used to pack both sides of the field despite the two hour drive. I think both fan bases miss that as they were always regarded as the two Northern powers. Fort Wayne vs South Bend if you will. They've played 15 times with Penn holding an 8-7 advantage. Most of those games were played in a span of two and half decades. So it was almost expected that the two teams would play each other. Sportsmanship always seemed to be there as well. Again, it's a respect thing.

I want @GOLDRUSH1985 to answer.
