Apparently this isn't the job people think it is...

Not that it's open, but which is the better opportunity in your opinion, Warren Central or Homestead?

Warren, for now.

Now, replace Homestead with Carroll in your question and I may reconsider my answer.

I think I'm rolling with Warren if it's about winning titles. It's hard to overlook their enrollment numbers. Homestead and Carroll are about the same, I do think however that Carroll will outpace Homestead in terms of population growth.

I mean, it depends on what you are looking at.  In the current format, Warren will get a trophy every year as their sectional is weak but that is not the goal at Warren.  It is title or bust (as it should be).

I think that people get to caught up in the moment as opposed to taking a long term outlook at things.  Every major metropolitan city experiences the urban sprawl that is spoken about often.

30 years ago, Center Grove/Westfield were not thought to be threats in big boy football.

20 years ago, folks would have laughed at New Palestine being a football powerhouse.

The suburbs are rapidly growing as Marion County deteriorates.

Some folks were surprised when Jayson West (football) and Garrett Winegar (basketball) left Warren for Franklin Central and Fishers respectively.  Not me.  Its a long term vision as trends don't lie.

The Marion County mega schools (BD and Warren specifically for football) will continue to compete at a high level due to their enrollment advantage.  But they are not the powers they once were.  The numbers don't lie.

In the 2010's, Ben Davis posted a winning percentage of .706...in 2020-2024 they are winning at a .623 clip.

In the 2010's, Warren posted a winning percentage of .758...in 2020-2024 they are winning at a .545 clip.

Their enrollments have pretty much held steady, the same.

Another data point:

Mike Kirschner coached at both places (BD from 2007-2017) and Warren from 2021-2024.  Between 2010-2017 (the decade referenced above), he had a .760 winning percentage at BD.

Had a stop at Mount Vernon in the middle (2018-2020) and won at a .789 clip.

He won at a .578 clip at Warren.

Did the man forget how to coach?

Your prototypical 6'2", 200lb, dropback passing college level quarterback normally comes from those suburban schools whose families used to reside closer to the donut. You could say the same thing for offensive linemen. It's the type of kid Snider had in the 80's and 90's that Homestead and Carroll are now the beneficiaries of. I think Warren and Ben Davis are seeing that same thing.

I guess my funny post was deleted by one of our fine admins.  🤦‍♂️

While I was not the one who did it, there are reasons we have strict guidelines in place. It's been that way for 20 years now.

Just keep you phone on...they may be calling you next.

Is WC not getting the “quality” applicants they thought they would/historically have received?

If one were to, lets say, rank the best jobs in Indiana.....what might a person who does rankings come up with?  If there were a guy like that on this board🤔

Eh, not sure "applicants" is the right word.

1. Carmel

2/3/4 can all go either way. CG, Westfield, Brownsburg

All three of those jobs you have listed at 2/3/4 are better than Carmel IMO.  I'll add in Fishers and HSE and the obvious ones like Cathedral and Chatard also.

Here goes:

1.  Cathedral

2. Westfield

3. Center Grove

4. Brownsburg

5. Fishers

6. HSE

7. Chatard

8. Carmel

9. Ben Davis

10. Warren Central

Just off the top of my head.  Things such as where I am in my career, what my goals are, where I live, what my job responsibilities are along with community support, family involvement and of course, SES.

Can you explain, “Eh, not sure “applicants” is the right word?  Sorry.  I don’t follow.  Thanks.

While I am confident there have been plenty of "applicants", those seriously taken into consideration were contacted BY Warren...as I understand it.
