What does Kyle know that he doesn't share as he goes on and on about how there's no teams limit in the conference charter? Is he just word count padding or is he trying to hint at something? Guy in SIAC 2024 thread said something along the lines of "no geographic fits have reached out." How far do you think the SIAC and it's schools would be willing to push the geographic footprint of the conference? Quote

I don't think the conference would entertain a school east of US 231 and north of US 50. I have heard some rumors about the TH's North and South, but I just don't see that happening. When Jasper and VL joined, I think the hope was to quickly add two more of GS, Boonville, Heritage Hills, and Mt Vernon. That never happened. I'm pretty sure the conference was gung-ho on an even number. Either 10 or 12. Not sure if the odd number 9 will be changed. 1 Quote

What Oldtime said about getting some members of the PAC and Big 8 to join the conference. There was also a proposed Championship week too for the outright SIAC Champion followed by #2 vs #2, #3 vs #3, and so on. SIAC also had divisions for football back in the 60s and 70s. I do not know the total membership number back then. Here is a list of the former SIAC members http://www.almanacsports.com/football/conference.php?conf_id=siac 1 Quote

My guess is he is making the point that if the conference could find a couple of teams (or more) they can go to two divisions. That said, I don't think they are going to find a single team. Don't wait until 2026 to donate to the GID folks! They're way behind on their goal for the year and could use everyone's help. IMO it ran the course of its useful life, but it would be better than having no non-conference games. I think if given the opportunity, we should look to schedule with Indy area p/p schools. MD, Memorial and Castle would be a nice trio to package together for some games. Quote

Thanks for putting that together. I knew Reitz was returning a lot, but did not realize Memorial is returning that much. They both lose a few crucial pieces but have a handful of talent back. Reitz will have their entire line back, most of their defense, and some skill guys. Memorial will have some talented skill guys back and a promising QB to step in. I would say those two will be top dogs again, with Mater Dei and Castle closely behind. Jasper could be a wildcard depending how well they adjust to a new offensive scheme. Quote

Memorial’s offensive starters rarely changed throughout the season unless it was just for a game. Memorial’s defense switched around for some of the games for the DL and backfield, but I used the most common lineup on that side of the ball they primarily used. I’m intrigued who will be the QB this season. One team that caught my eye was North losing pretty much their entire offense, but returning a good amount on their Defense. Looks like he had a couple of rough years at NC (0-20) but had good success at Kankakke (34-8) and had them in the state title game in 2021. Not sure of the offense he runs, but I’m sure it is probably far from the Lewis Wing T or the Power I ran by Ahrens / Brewer in their years. Heard there wasn’t a shortage of applicants for the position and hopefully AD hired the right guy. Quote

Lewis ran the flexbone. Ahrens/Brewer ran the Power I/Pro style stuff. Do you think the people interviewing or fans wanted something specific? Quote

I have no definite insights, but I would guess the decision makers think they need to spread things out. Ahrens was starting to do that towards the end of his coaching tenure there before Lewis was hired. I'm sure seeing HH just down the road have success moving from their traditional wishbone to a spread was a big factor too. They probably think there are athletes in the hallways who don't come out for football because of their style of play. Quote

The 2021 state Championship game is on YouTube. And I’m assuming he has been using the same offense at North Central. Edited January 23, 2025 by TigerFan20 Quote
