You mean guys in a winner take all who punt from midfield down 3 possessions with under 10 minutes to go?

Regardless of what he said in the press conference, my take was that he thought he could pin the Irish deep and force a turnover rather than give the ball back at midfield. I thought it was a good decision.

You should have seen him in high school. Truly, a man among boys.

Seriously, @temptation, they make the first down on that play they still have to move the ball 40+ yards to score against a defense that had given them nothing the entire game. I get it, blackjack says never punt the ball, EVER. But I think that changes after watching the dynamics of a game through three quarters. Pin em deep, force a turnover, get a short touchdown. Stick with me Temp, you'll learn.

Here’s an interesting thought.

Quinn Ewers to Notre Dame? Potential transfer could shake up 2025 College Football

Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers entered the 2024 college football season as a top NFL Draft prospect and one of the most marketable names in the NIL space. Despite leading Texas to the College Football Playoff, Ewers' draft stock has slipped, fueling speculation about his next move.

While Ewers could still declare for the NFL Draft, whispers of a return to college are growing louder. If he does come back, it’s unlikely to be in Austin, as the Longhorns appear ready to hand the reins to Arch Manning for the 2025 season.

If Ewers enters the transfer portal, Notre Dame could emerge as an intriguing destination. Nick Shepkowski of SI Fighting Irish recently examined the Irish’s stance on transfer quarterbacks, highlighting the potential for a player like Ewers to change head coach Marcus Freeman’s mind about staying out of the portal.

In a December press conference, Freeman stated, “We have no plans on going to the transfer portal for a quarterback.”

However, as Shepkowski points out, Notre Dame faces a daunting start to the 2025 season with matchups against Texas A&M, Miami, and Arkansas. A proven, elite quarterback like Ewers could be the difference-maker in those games and a potential run to the College Football Playoff.

With current quarterback Riley Leonard exhausting his eligibility in 2024, the Fighting Irish will be searching for a new leader under center. Ewers, a two-time College Football Playoff participant, could be the perfect fit for Notre Dame's 2025 aspirations.

Ewers’ decision—whether to enter the draft, return to college, or transfer—remains uncertain. If he chooses the portal, his NIL valuation, already an estimated $2.8 million according to On3 Sports, would skyrocket, as quarterback-needy programs across the country vie for his talents.

As the offseason looms, all eyes will be on Ewers, who could become one of the most sought-after transfer portal targets in college football history. Notre Dame, despite Freeman’s current stance, might find it hard to pass up the opportunity to secure such a game-changing player.

Quinn Ewers and the Texas Longhorns will take on the Arizona State Sun Devils on New Years Day at 12pm CT on ESPN.

I see his NIL valuation at $2.8 million. That appears to be $1.3 million less than Michigan St. reportedly offered.

Is that $1.3 million difference enough to potentially sway Ewers to ND, generational wealth and all too?

I sure hope that is a HARD pass. I have not been impressed with him. There is a reason he is looking elsewhere....and his name is Arch! I like the QB's the Irish have now. You bring Ewers in and those guys are gone.

Just throwing this out there, I HATE the transfer portal as is.

Feel awful for kids who get recruited by schools and never get a fair shake.

100%
And looking at how many underclassmen are in it, I will be curious to see how many go nowhere. Kind of like having a house on the market too long. The value drops the longer it's there. With roster cuts coming next season as well, that only adds to the number who will not land anywhere. Stated it about a year ago, contracts would cut down the use of the portal. Make them 2 year contracts with an option for years 3 and 4.

Caught a clip of James Franklin saying Nick Saban should be the Commissioner of college football.

He already was during his years as Alabama coach!😉

If he was the commissioner, I guess that makes Jim Harbaugh the commissioners’ daddy.

You’re so easy to bait…

Alexa:  “Which coach defeated Nick Saban in 2024 and sent him into retirement?”

Answer:  “Jim Harbaugh.”

1.  How did Saban do once NIL was introduced and everyone could legally pay players?

2.  How did Saban do in the NFL?

7>1. Congrats to Jimmy for finally getting the one.

No comparison between the two coaches when it comes to a collegiate resume. You know that…
