It's been a long winter.....

What's new? Who's your favorite to win it? The biggest question of all, will North Miami still have ham salad sandwiches on their menu?

A lot happening in Bourbon right now. Putting all the past stuff behind and moving forward. Coach Barker is bringing in a couple of assistants from Plymouth and most of the coaching staff from last year stayed on. New strength and conditioning coach is focusing on putting together strength and conditioning plans for athletes in and out of season while also helping athletes out with nutrition that promotes their wellness. Definitely going to be interesting to see how everything plays out with the summer and how the kids respond.

See how this all plays out... heard several kids aren't happy along with some parents on the hire.....    they must pay a lot of coaching positions if majority stayed and also got some Plymouth coaches to "transfer"

There was some talk about Barker being hired because he is not a paid teacher or employed by the school. The way I see it, you can't make everyone happy. I'm not sure what those Plymouth assistants were doing with the Plymouth program, just stating what I heard. From them being paid, I couldn't tell you what they are going to be paid, if they will be paid at all. All I know is, the Triton community needs someone who has a little more integrity than the last guy.

I get it.... I do think some are going to be leaving to an area school since they can now.

You say that like a typical person from Bremen like it is going to be a mass exodus.

I am literally pointing out that you are saying it like you're from Bremen. Not saying that anything is happening at Bremen, but you seem to be acting like that a couple kids and parents mad about the new coach coming in is going to lead to a mass exodus when in all reality it is more like those couple kids will stay because their parents like the small class sizes and the kids can focus more on basketball. That's the reality of who those kids are in all honesty.

I'd say it's probably the same top 4 teams as last year. I keep waiting for Winamac to make a jump but they still haven't.

Judson won't be as good as last year but if they can get a few guys to step up in areas they are losing they will once again be a top team in 1A. They have plenty of size and talent.

Look for Pioneer to be a tough out this year. Think this is the year they finally get back to their standards.

North Miami had several down years there in athletics but I believe they are now here to stay. They had a solid team last year and I look for them to be decent this year too.

Definitely something going on. HFC Jordan Leeper resigning for personal health reasons.

The coaching hire at Triton is no way related to Coach Leepers decision to step aside.

Just to be clear, I did not intend to give the impression that the two events were somehow linked. I simply intended to relate that “something” was “going on” at Bremen. My thought was the head Coach unexpectedly resigning for health reasons qualified as “something going on.” Nothing else was intended.

In all honesty, I didn't know what was going with Leeper, just saw that he had some health issues and was resigning. In the past, there have been people from Bremen stirring the pot about Triton which is why I said what said to Guru. It's more or less irony what I said and what Guru said.

Just to make sure correct information is out there, no coaches are leaving Plymouth to go to Triton.

Best of luck to Coach Barker as he starts his tenure there!

Good to know. I just heard that was a possibility, didn't know if would happen.

Top 4 from last year remain at the top. Can't quite put my finger on an order yet.

Jays lose a lot but the cupboard has no shortage.

Pioneer returns a lot from a very solid team. Whooping Carroll then turning around and getting cold-cocked by Taylor still racks my brain. Rans will be the fastest/quickest/shiftiest player in the conference

Triton at this point in the calendar year is probably my pick to be 4th. Very interested to see/hear of any movement into/out of Bourbon.

Ham Salad Sandwiches WILL be back unless there are unforeseen circumstances. The 2025 red and black Warriors look to be solid. All 5 OL are back in front of over 3000 returning rushing yards. Only offensive loss due to graduation was the FB who was probably the least dynamic toter of the pigskin of the 4. Hoover, the QB was a wrestling state qualifier at 215 and will probably beef up for the fall. Defensively, it seems that they return 7 of their front 8. Weakness will again be defending the air. Both corners from 2024 are set to graduate in May.

Pretty confident Winamac is 5th (could see them sneaking into the top 4).

Caston looks to be improved, but will still out of the top 5.

7th will be decided week 9 in Culver when they play the Satellites

I wouldn't be shocked to see 1A north once again be represented in Lucas Oil by the HNAC

1. Jays- King of the hill until proven otherwise. Good coaching staff and teamwide by in will have them humming by sectionals. I could see it taking a few games for the new pieces to gel with what they lost from last year's team, but will be a hard out this offseason.

2. Panthers- Lose one 2-way player to graduation off of last year's team. If this team plays to their potential, they can represent 1A in the north next year at state. The big thing for the Panthers this year is we will have more open competition across the board in practice due to increased numbers.

3a/3B. Trojans- It will be interesting to see how the new coach changes how things have been ran for the past few years. Losing Workman will be a big loss statistically and as a team leader. They will still be a threat in the conference this year.

             N. Miami- Warriors bring back everybody and their brother from a regional qualifying team. Veteran experience and a ball control offense should keep them in every game that they play.

5. Comets- The young comets will be improved next year and will win 4 or so games. I think that they are a year out from being in the top half of the conference talent wise. i think that the biggest thing holding them back is their coaching staff. I have never been more embarrassed for a team than listening to how their coach spoke about them after a game and how he speaks about them in the media.

6. Winamac- Warriors have a lot of physical talent, but sometimes you see there scheme and what they do on the field and it makes you scratch your head.

7/8. Cavs/Satellites- Both teams looking to improve, but it will be a hard conference to find wins in next year.

If I recall correctly, I think he wrestled at 160 or 170 as a freshman

Had to cut (not drastic) to get to 215. Kid takes lifting/diet very seriously

Dad was the QB for the state team back in '94 if I'm not mistaken was a heck of a wrestler too. I think you could double dad's weight and he still wouldn't have weighed 215 lol. Great guy and no surprise he has his son doing the right things for his own athletic career.

I am not doubting that at all. It was more of the fact we dont have OL that weight 215, let alone a QB that big in the past 20 years. He has to be tough to bring down.

Big news out of North Judson!

Senior CJ Sanchez has just received an offer to continue his football career at Ball State University! Huge congratulations to CJ on this well-deserved recognition and hats off to the NJ coaching staff for helping reach this milestone. The Bluejay family is proud!
