Penn to Elkhart trying to maximize his opportunities.  Interesting considering the history of both programs.

Penn's program has been falling off a cliff. Last year after the Valpo game was just like poking yourself in the eye for pleasure.

Elkhart while there has been big news, (and some concerns how they are doing it please refer back to last year's Mishawaka drama,) regarding new transfers coming in over the past two seasons, this program while not at the level of CP or Carroll in the True North is trending upward now. They are primed to take control of the NIC for the foreseeable future. Especially if Penn cannot right the ship.

Asking honestly here because I’m not very familiar with Penn or Elkhart—what new opportunities will this athlete have and how will those opportunities be more maximized at Elkhart compared to Penn?

Look at it like buying stock...Elkhart in the North is a buy with promise. Penn is a sell.

Those children still have teammates and coaches they're bailing on. Expecting a 17 or 18 year old to have a little bit of decorum isn't that far fetched, imo.

Bardo bailed on his teammates during games. If things don't go well at Elkhart he will do the same.

The ACC is trash when it comes to College FB.

They have individual players, but as a conference its just 'existing' at his time and waiting on Basketball season to begin.

Yeah, but.................I don't think I ever mentioned the quality of the ACC.

Ran out of likes, good stuff, both posts.

Not if he is against NIL....  He becomes Maryland/Rutgers in the Big10 hierarchy of FB.

You didn’t specify which school, so yes.

Well, he's already against NIL and he's dubbed as a major contender for the national title. So there's that.

Muda, I'm just sayin...  And yes I agree about too much being put on "kids".  But unfortunately THIS is exactly that...  A forum about HS Football in Indiana.

Muda seems to spend a lot of time on a high school football forum talking about a game played by "children."

Now imagine if Dabo was at a “blue blood” like Ohio State or Michigan in the Big Ten or Alabama or Georgia in the SEC with everything you said about his recruiting prowess and his top tier program.

Did someone say he was against NIL?  I may have missed that.  I know it appears Dabo is not a huge fan of the transfer portal.

The perception of Penn is rightly negative, while, having started at the bottom, Elkhart's perception has been bolstered by competence and an influx of talent over recent years. It will be interesting to see where Elkhart's program goes from here,  but neither Penn nor Elkhart––with not a single other 6A program on their schedules––belong in the same sentence as Carroll at this point. The same is likely true with CP, unless that program has experienced an unsustainable rise on the strength of a couple of classes as I've seen suggested. Still, CP's recent results speak for themselves so far as Penn and Elkhart are concerned.

Multiple titles at those schools. He's easily Saban if he's at Ohio State or Alabama.

Not if he keeps that same transfer portal philosophy.

Dabo is a good coach that has accumulated a great record in a bad conference. If he were in SEC or B1G, he would still be a good coach likely top tier and not the best. He is nowhere near Sabanesque.

Hard to make that claim. Saban is like John Wooden. Great coach with the best talent money can buy. Is it fair to say that many coaches would look good under those circumstances?

Dabo would have three national championships at OSU in the time it took Day to get one.

He's projected to have one of the best teams in the country? What's the problem?

Correct, but in the modern era of portal activity, he’d not be able to keep up in the SEC week in and week out.

At Clemson, he takes the field with the most talented team in the ACC weekly.

I’m probably going to be framed as a hater for this take but it also that time of year when college football fans/pages are releasing their coaching rankings and I find it hilarious that Ryan Day is still viewed as a unanimous #1 in the Big Ten.

Managing talent while given an open checkbook is no doubt challenging but the bottom feeders in the power 4 don’t wanna hear about it.

Still have a hard time with Penn not being able to make it out their sectional or win their conference. From an outside view, they seem to have all the resources needed to once again be "THE" program. I hear all the hype from Elkhart, yes, they combined schools, were either of those programs that great to begin with? Granted I have not watched a ton of film on the new mighty Elkhart yet they remind me of another "hyped" program who has not really won anything as of yet. The feeder programs at Penn dwindling that much?

Grissom struggles to field a full team, Schmucker is the middle sized team while Discovery typically has the larger team. Rocket football league numbers I have heard are down but there are more teams in the league than when I played back in the 90's. So, that Idk how to compare.

I have also heard that there is a lot of pressure being put on middle school players and even younger to play only 1 sport by AAU/Travel teams. While we all would likely agree it is better for the kids to be multi-sport athletes.

I used to never think this way, but as of the last decade I would gladly sacrifice Penn's season for a Notre Dame national championship.  To me that is how bad it has become. I thought Penn could put together a season and come away with the title way before ND actually had a chance to win the Natty, now it seems like Penn will never win another state title while ND is at the door step. It is frustrating.

@Justasportsfan But, for the sake of discussion, this is also not a new development. Coaches were at lunches during the season at Grissom begging kids to come out twenty years or more ago.

Pretty sure you, Rodney, and I could win at Ohio State. Not impressed with Day in the slightest.

Did many families of those who were affiliated with deep playoff runs move away? I am just wondering what happened and also how it could have been avoided, if possible. Community attendance at the games on friday nights?

Good grief. A simple "I'm enrolling at another school" would do just fine.

Absolutely. Or nothing at all.

Elkhart has also gotten a commitment from a QB from Northwood who is transferring in.

Sorry I don't have his name but I think he is a junior.

Ok, out with it!  How much are they paying through their NIL deals!?
