PHJIrish Posted November 14, 2025 Author Posted November 14, 2025 Numbers always seem to be uppermost in most MVP voter's minds. No one can even come close to matching Jonathon Taylor's numbers, no matter the position. I sure hope he stays healthy the rest of the season. The RB can also make life easier for the QB too, and the offensive line is quite important to both. I Quote
First_Backer_Inside Posted November 20, 2025 Posted November 20, 2025 I think if JT is going to get the MVP he has to break both of LT's records. I think the yards he will come somewhere close to 2,000, give or take a few. Can he get to I think it's 31 rushing TD's and 35 Total TD's or something like that by the end of the season? If he can get one or both of those, and doesn't win the MVP vote, then I think we really do have a problem on our hands as far as giving the award to QB's. The dude has more rushing TD's than more than half of the QB's in the league have passing touchdowns. What's crazy to me about his numbers is if you look at Daniel Jones' numbers, he is still above average if not better on all of his statistics. So it isn't like JT is just getting all the carries in the world. The dude is averaging 6 yards a carry in the NFL. That is a crazy stat to me. 6 yards a carry!!! Some kids in high school don't even average that on good teams. Just nuts. Shoutout to the offensive line play of the Colts as well. JT is good, but he will be the first to tell you he has some hawgs blocking for him up front, OL and TE's. 2 Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 22, 2025 Author Posted November 22, 2025 I hope Daniel Jones is OK to play Sunday. I guess if he's out, and that's not the case yet, Riley Leonard will get his first NFL start. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 The Colts have led the Chiefs the entire game, until the game goes to OT on a Chief FG with no time left. Colts win the toss and take the ball. I hope the offense steps up. They had a bad 4th quarter. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 The offense has gone 3 and out for the third straight time, iirc. They are just inept all of a sudden. Third and one and no conversion. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 The Colts defense hasn't been too much either, but they've held the Chiefs to FG's instead of TD's. Only one Chief TD in the game so far. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 Chief win 23-20. It was their only lead of the game. Mark this one up to the Colt's offense. It just wasn't there at all in the 4th quarter. Oh, and Taylor only had about 15 carries today. The defense was on the field most of the 4th quarter and OT. I wouldn't be surprised if KC didn't have 500 yards of total offense today. Quote

PHJIrish Posted November 23, 2025 Author Posted November 23, 2025 Chiefs 494 total yards offensively, Colts 255 yards of offense. Quote

Chiefs had the ball for over two-thirds of the game and the Colts did give up tons of yards but to hold the KC offense (at Arrowhead) to 23 points and only allowing them to get in the end zone twice was pretty damn solid. Give em what they want between the 20s and buckle down in the red zone. I thought some of the offensive play calling down the stretch was questionable personally. First_Backer_Inside Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Chiefs time of possession was 42 minutes or something crazy like that. Asking your defense to be on the field for almost 3 quarters of a football game is nuts. This one is on Shane. 6 offensive plays in the fourth quarter, all pass freakin plays. YOU HAVE THE BEST RUNNINGBACK IN THE LEAGUE! If they stop JT in the 4th and you lose you can at least say well they were the better team today, they stopped what we do best. But instead the only thing that stopped Shane's offense today, was Shane. I'm not an NFL coach, I have no idea what happens behind those doors, but I do know football. I don't care what level it is, don't complicate it. Find a way to get the guys that are really good with the ball in their hands, the ball into their hands. Shane did not do that with his best player today in my opinion. 2 Quote

Because the Colts D was constantly on the field. The announcers mentioned in OT, KC offense had run 82 plays...and they added more. The D had to be more than gassed. The D set up the first score for the Colts. Bottom line, had the Colts offense did anything at all in the 4th quarter, ate some clock and took some pressure off their D, they would have won the game. They hung their D brothers out to dry. Questionable play calling and certainly poor execution by the O. To simply look at stats at games end does not tell the story. 2 Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted November 24, 2025 Posted November 24, 2025 Not a good day for complementary football on the road. Hard to win on the road no matter what in the NFL I mean the PATS held on in Cincy...... Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 24, 2025 Author Posted November 24, 2025 No one seems to want to put the blame on Daniel Jones. It's not the first time he's gotten that look in his eye during a tough stretch. I refer everyone to Gregg Doyel's column in the Indy Star. He pretty much tells it like it was. Also, Coach Steichen gets some credit for his atrocious play calling. Throwing the ball with 5:50 or so to go, and still in the lead, was mind boggling considering you have the best running back in the NFL in your backfield. The Colts didn't even take a minute off the clock in that possession Jones threw the ball into double and triple coverage numerous times in that fourth quarter and overtime. You just can't sugarcoat this loss! 2 Quote

I think Jones has to take some ownership. He missed a couple of 3rd down throws that were more than makeable for a NFL QB. He’s the QB…goes with the position. Maybe Steichen put too much faith in the passing game. Quote
Bash Riprock Posted November 28, 2025 Posted November 28, 2025 Tough break (no pun intended) for Jones and the Colts. Perhaps explains the play over past couple of weeks. Ugh…doesn’t look smooth… 1 Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 29, 2025 Author Posted November 29, 2025 Doyel is far from infallible, but he nailed this one. Quote
PHJIrish Posted November 30, 2025 Author Posted November 30, 2025 The Colts lose another, but a missed delay penalty and a bogus DPI, helped Houston score the winning TD. The Colts offense has just regressed too. Quote

And he holds onto the ball way too long, which he wasn't doing earlier in the season. That may be due to his lack of mobility stemming from his injury. They better get back on track soon! 1 Quote

I may be in the minority, but I'd take an injured Jones over a healthy AR down the stretch. I seriously don't think this is all on the QB. The O line has been exposed in pass protection and receivers dropped some critical passes. Downs drops were killers yesterday. Quote

I agree as far as down the stretch. But word is Jones had this break some time ago. Had he sat when it first broke, he may have come back ready for a stretch run. Now they just have to ride it out with him in place hoping he does not aggrevate the injury. 1 Quote
First_Backer_Inside Posted December 1, 2025 Posted December 1, 2025 The bigger issue at hand is Sauce Gardner. Haven't really looked, but what is the word on his injury. The defense had looked really strong with him in there. Healthy Gardner and healthy Buckner, our defense is good enough against any offense in the league in my opinion. Shane will hopefully come to his senses of running the ball 20+ times a game. Maybe just trying to keep him from taking too many hits throughout the year is the only thing I can come up with. It's now or never tho. The race is too tight now. Gotta lean on your best player more down the stretch. 1 Quote
