I think Merrillville has an easy road to semi-state.  Is this the year they finally make it to state?  I mean, they have to break through sometime, right?

As someone who has seen them close and personal. They have a great secondary and alotnof weapons on offense. But they have an issue on both sides of ball.

defense line is horrible against a power run team.. and offense line struggles to open run lanes. Great at pass blocking but issues in run game. If they get the Oline solid in the run they have 2 1000 yard rushers from last season that will start to hurt everyone. They have been quiet so far. Defense is solid against the run unless you got a line like crown points and they are toast.

Didn't CG win by 11 at Carroll?  You make it sound like the game came down to the wire.....

The game was 35-17 until Carroll had a big pass play late for a TD.  CG had over 500 yds of offense.  Yes, Carroll is good, and they played the Trojans tough the first half, but CG wore then down and opened it up in the 2nd half.

I was there. Carroll was the harder hitting team that night, but yes, the better team did win at the end. Down 21-17 at halftime, Carroll had CG pinned in there own territory for most of the third quarter. Unfortunately, they never was able to take advantage of that by taking the lead. When CG went up 28-17 late third, we knew the game was over and that Carroll wasn't coming back. All I'm saying is that Carroll was competitive, it was an entertaining game.

I agree competitive...I wasn't there but watched it on the tube.  Just not sure I agree that it was "all they could handle".  First half was very competitive....2nd half not as much.  When a team masses over 500 total yds and you see the running yardage totals, would seem to indicate CG won the LOS.

This is not a slight at Carroll....very solid team.  Also, its the 2nd game of the season for both teams.  Guessing both coaches are hoping that neither team is playing their best football.

Not really worth debating. I just know that I saw a fun game for 3 quarters until CG pulled away. It's really more about how Carroll performed their first couple of weeks. I was impressed with how hard Carroll hit compared to Center Grove. I was expecting it to be the other way around with all of their D1 guys. They played HSE within a touchdown without their top offensive weapon. Either way, doesn't really matter how we as fans want to interpret it. I personally think Carroll will be a tough out in the northern bracket, but that's just me.

Without seeing Elkhart, but looking at their current competition they have struggled against the two better SB schools that Penn worked over. Elkhart v Washington 34-13 (Elkhart pulled away in the fourth) Elkhart v Riley 39-22. Penn beat these teams 111-6. I think Carroll is likely the best team in their sectional and have a tough matchup against CP in the regional.

At this point, I have no doubt having seen them in person. Sectional questions will come to light this Friday at Spuller Stadium.

I think you must going to Michigan to get the good stuff if you think Carroll was the harder hitting school.

i was also there and will say great stadium awesome crowd

I saw what I saw, you saw what you saw. Center Grove is a great program, much respect. Carroll's community shows out like that every week. It's impressive.

The love for Carroll this year is unwarranted. They are not that good. I am more impressed Snider played Warsaw even for the whole game than Carroll supposedly hanging with Center Grove, which they didn’t. Giving up 500 yards is not playing them tough. Again, this Is Carroll’s worst team in the last few years yet you are selling how good they are.

Apparently hitting hard takes you from being an average team to a team hanging with the big boys…

Reminds me of a 2016 Michigan/UCF game in which then UCF coach Scott Frost (he's back there now) claimed his team "outhit Michigan" in the post game press conference.

The final score that day was 51-14.

Also reminds me of the IU/Purdue game last year when IU won 66-0 when it was said their was an actual football game played by 2 teams….

No, I just knew it would strike a nerve.

Lol, you took the bait. Glad someone did.

I'm just being a d*** right now. But Carroll did have a few hits that reverberated around the stadium. Never really saw much of that from Center Grove. They just kill you with precision and know how to win football games.

But at the end of the day, Indy people get butt hurt when their teams aren't the center of attention. Kinda like when the Fort Wayne team won the 7 on 7 national title down at the IMG academy. Crickets. Had that been an Indy team, there would have been 40 pages here claiming Indy football is the greatest thing since sliced bread.

You're so off base right now, very unusual for you to be this wrong. Nothing impressive about Snider's game against Warsaw, the Tigers defense isn't any good. I love them, but I think they're overrated. You weren't even at the Carroll/CG game. You're not allowed to comment any further about it. Fifteen posts is the limit for a game that you didn't attend.

It is a game I watched on summit city sports so I saw as much as you did. I don’t get it either you right now. Worst Carroll team in the last 5 years easily and yet you see them as a contender? Sigh…

C'mon....sometimes watching a game on TV gives one much better perspective than sitting in the stands...especially if replay is available.  To say the only way one can comment is to be there is kind of silly.  I am going to the IU vs Illinois game Saturday night....can't imagine telling someone watching on TV that they are not in a position to comment on the game.

East Noble also beat dwenger last year when no one thought they had a chance.

In the midst of all this talk about how good Carroll and Dwenger are in relation to the SAC or the state, I am curious who thought East Noble had no shot against Dwenger year. I did not even read or meet people who thought Dwenger was the favorite in that game.

NFL? College? Sure. But high school? I like you Bash, but that's the biggest batch of crap I've heard today. Why does it bother people from Indy so much that Carroll was only down 21-17 deep into the third with most of the third period played on CG's end? You guys won. Congratulations. I'm sorry it wasn't the beatdown Central Indiana was hoping for.

Worst team in 5 years? Based on what exactly? Wow, GG and HSE must be pretty bad too.

I think you are totally missing the point...

Your bias is obvious man.  To say no one can comment if they watched a high school game on TV is just silly.  They may just had far better sightlines that someone there.

I don't care how much CG won the game by...good grief.  Guess you need a moral victory, huh?

How about this?  Just glad the finesse Trojans who amassed over 500 yds of total offense barely escaped with their lives against a far more physical Carroll team that hung in the game for 3 quarters.  Is that better for you??? 🤪

It bothers you that Carroll delivered some punishing hits in that game? Why? All I said was that Carroll was competitive. Good grief, we up north got slammed when we lose by 40, then slammed again when we lose by 11. Lol.

I don't know what channel you're watching your high school games on, maybe ESPN for all I know. But watching a game on summitcitysports.com doesn't come anywhere close to watching it in person. Not sure why I'm triggering everyone by congratulating Carroll for playing hard.

Look, Center Grove has what, at least 6 players going D1? I was fully prepared to leave that game after the first quarter and hit the Dwenger/De Sales game down the street. I came away proud of how well Carroll played despite the loss. Moral victory? Why not with all the pre-season hype Center Grove was getting. Do I "need" a moral victory? No. We all know Indy owns 6A. Anyone with a morsal of a brain knows that Indy dominance is primarily based on enrollment. You'll never see Kevin Wright take over at Homestead..................5000 vs 2500 is a no brainer.

Have you watched Carroll over the last 5 years? Multiple SAC championships, multiple sectional titles, regional titles, and a semistate title and you are comparing this year’s Carroll team to those? Uh, ok…

I work with a few Dwenger alum who thought they would win, I also believe we were split on the GID about this game.

I picked East Noble to go to state last year so not sure who in the world thought Dwenger would beat them….

I'm asking you.........."worst team in 5 years"...................give me some substance. Like maybe how many starters they lost, something like that. We all know they lost Jimmy Sullivan. Give me something else. Not......."I watched the game on summitcitysports.com." That's hardly ESPN.

It looked like a 50/50 game going in. No one saw the 38-0 drubbing coming.
