Not saying you’re wrong but I think in this era, any move from Ole Miss would be a lateral move.

if Vanderbilt can compete in the SEC, anyone can.

Ole Miss is not quite the pressure cooker as some of the current openings.

9-3 and they are happy.

10-2 gets you a statue.

One hundred percent on board with this. Why would he leave what he has to go into a train wreck and LSU? Penn State and Florida? No way. Like Cignetti said, be happy with what you have. If it's not broke, why fix it? Ol Miss is a good gig. Agree, at this point, lateral move.

One obvious possible reason - not saying he would - is the size of the bag … and the buyout. 😉

I guess I'll never understand. Does it really matter if a guy makes 8 million a year vs 12 million a year. Honestly, I don't think Cignetti would have left IU at 8.6m. Didn't Brad Stevens turn down UCLA or almost 2m/year because he liked Butler at .9m?

Well, if Tennessee fans burned mattresses when he left, who knows what da hell Ole Miss fans would do. That might be a factor also, lol.

Just going by what the NCAA said is all.

So much for getting back on track huh?

21st ranked Wolverines play Purdue Saturday night.

Spread is 19.5.

And what a riveting performance it was by the Maize and Blue. Jesus

Yuck.

Just saw a stat that Nebraska has not beaten a ranked team in NINE years.

Wow.

Michigan 21 - Purdue 16 at Michigan. Not a good look for the maize and blue at all. Thing is, they still have a shot at the CFP. Win at Northwestern, no easy task, win at Maryland, and beat Ohio State and they got a shot… Maybe even play Indiana in the Big 10 title game

Selfishly want a rematch with Ohio State, but beating Michigan 35-10 at LOS would definitely bring a smile to my face.

You're bound to be right one of these years so you can take your victory lap.

The vitriol for the maize and blue on this board is hysterical.

Victory lap? We beat you last year and have a significantly better team this year. I enjoy beating teams with cheating programs and arrogant fan bases.

You're on a board with primarily Indiana/Purdue/Notre Dame fans, why would any one fluff the Michigan Wolverines?

Ah, my bad.  The "we" I was referring all the way back to our 2022 bet in which the Wolverines were doomed entering "The Shoe" after you spotted me 20.5 points in a game Michigan wound up winning by 23.

Forgot that you are now an IU fan.

Don't expect any "fluffing" but one side of your mouths claim they are irrelevant while the other convinces you to run to your keyboard to throw attempted shade at every opportunity.

You keep referring to this "cheating" but not one damn person on here has told me specifically how the "scandal" impacted games...

Forgot I was an "IU fan"?

I'm an IU alumnus. What are you?

I bet on different college football teams weekly that I'm neither a fan nor alumnus.

Playing the victim is a bad look for you Temp. The way you go after people and then duck for cover regarding the Wolverines is hysterical. Michigan cheated, case closed. Harbaugh is banned from college football basically forever, according to you for no reason. Morris was suspended a few games for what reason? Your spy is gone from college football presumably permanently.

It is comical how the great Michigan program is on the struggle bus. For 2 years with a top 10 recruiting class every year, you claim your team is too young while Indiana barely cracks the top 50 and is significantly better than Michigan. Why is that? You will go spin some BS, avoid answering the question, and it will repeat itself whenever you decide to wail about the unfairness of how Michigan is treated with vitriol…

That Michigan broke the rules is a given, based on what we know now. But the question of whether what they did gave them an unfair advantage is a legitimate one. I concede that I don’t know enough about the nuances of college football coaching and team preparation to feel qualified to answer that question.

It does occur to me, however, that some people who know an awful lot about college football coaching and team preparation (cough, cough … Jim Harbaugh … cough, cough) went to a lot of time and expense for nothing if it didn’t produce a competitive advantage. I have an open mind on the subject. But common sense tells me that we should assume that the scheme produced an advantage, unless and until someone provides convincing evidence/reasoning to the contrary.

Believe it or not, I am an IU grad (Indy) myself, lol.  Not sure why that matters.

For an IU fan, you sure are mysteriously obsessed with another team in the Big Ten despite being in the midst of the greatest run in your program's history.

(And its absolutely hilarious.)

Mysteriously obsessed? It doesn't take any joy out of my time watching Indiana this year to acknowledge that Michigan got off easy for one of the biggest cheating scandals since SMU back in the 80's.

1.  All I am doing is restating what the NCAA has said and verified after its findings..."Michigan won fair and square" was the exact statement.

2.  There are different levels of "cheating" and while whataboutism is an unattractive trait, I have still yet to see anyone on here make a case that it in anyway affected games.  The "spy" was let go and then Michigan rolled through Penn State, Maryland, Ohio State, Iowa, Alabama and Washington...with Harbaugh suspended for 3 of those.

3.  They then go and beat Ohio State and Alabama AGAIN the follwing year without Harbaugh or "the spy."

4.  His name is MOORE, not Morris.

5.  Michigan is on the "struggle bus" at 7-2 with all of its goals in front of them despite having the youngest team in the Big Ten?  I had them at 7-2 at this stage when the schedule came out, though I had them losing to Nebraska and beating USC.  The over/under on win totals for this season was 8.5 according to Vegas.  They are right on pace.  This was always going to be a developmental year.

6.  Your definition of struggle bus is comical.  If a 7-2 team is on the struggle bus then what are you saying about other normally elite programs like Clemson, Florida State, Penn State, Nebraska, Florida and Tennessee?  I mean there are two threads dedicated to LSU but this thread only focuses on one "blue blood."  Everybody wants to line up for their "gotcha" moment on the Temp.

7.  IU is better than Michigan.  No doubt.  Not sure if you wanted to hear that from me to feel better?  I've stated that I was wrong about Cignetti.  Dude is elite.  They have an elite 22 year old at the most important position on the field.  That kinda matters.

Big cheating scandals usually result in forefited games, postseason bans, etc...

Talk to me about how it impacted games.  You keep ducking the question.

You watch Indiana on Saturday but spend the other 6 days on here obsessing about Michigan.

Sad.

No.  But you keep dropping the term MASSIVE to describe the scandal.  WHY was it so "massive?"

Your Head Coach received the largest show cause penalty in NCAA history. That's "massive".

Gimme the nuts and bolts of WHY though.

You claim the NCAA is spineless in one sentence yet want to cite the show cause penalty in the second?

Which is it?

Why did the results on the field not change after the supposed “spy” was let go?

Gimme some substance here instead of emotions.

I can't answer as to why the NCAA is spineless. I've repeatedly stated that.

I do know they didn't hand out the single largest show-cause in their institutions history (among multi-year show-cause to several other coaches and staffers) to a team that "won fair and square".

Why did Paul Manafort only receive a 43 months for a conviction that carried a 25 year sentence? I can't answer these questions.

Acting like Michigan did nothing wrong because the NCAA let them off easy doesn't excuse what they did.

Maybe Sherrone Moore coaching your team is retribution and karma for the rest of us.
