And then there was one. As expected The Tenderloins and South Putnams won with relative ease, although SP didn’t have the total blowout everyone expected. The Ponies took the opening kickoff straight down the field but threw a red zone interception and never were a threat after that. Kinda surprised Chuck had his starting offense playing in the 4th quarter. Friday night should be a great game. Can the Loins pass? I was toed they have plays they’ve worked on since August. SP can definitely throw with a 6’4” 225 dude catching passes. Their RB had almost 200 on 12 carries, before halftime. If it comes to extra points they might be in trouble. Missed 3 in the first half.
Other thoughts and facts .

Seegers was who I said they were. They need to kick about 60-70 kids out of school to get back to 1A.

Attica, keep pushing @CoachDean4758  . You’re on the right track.
Little rubbers, you’ll never be a threat as long as you have fake football and I’ll say it right to your face.

Fountain Centrals. The Prince might think .500 or close is great but the FC community wants and deserves better. Time for a youth movement for the coaching staff.

Not sure why Crabtrees left North Vermilions and why he came back. The next 2 years will tell how good of coach he really is. I’m supposed to eat pizza with him someday.

South Vermilions, coach visor definitely knew when to bail.

The Woofs, you’re a basketball school now.

The Tenderloins. Coach Loin has slowly turned the program around. They were supposed to be a year away but have a great opportunity this Friday. South Putnams is still the favorite until someone knocks them off. The Tenderloins will be in the exact spot this time next, but probably better.

And for the WeBo team mom that didn’t like my comment on the 2A sectional, how’d that work out for you? You got mounted by the Mounties, I swear to God you did!

Curious as to where this was posted?

South Put @ RP - I was at the FC vs South Put game, and all I can say is that if South Put can beat a healthy Mustang squad that bad, I don’t think anyone in 1A can stop them. As expected, the first offensive drive by the Mustangs was masterfully executed by Coach King moving the ball effectively through the air and with the QB run game. Herb threw everything he had at them, and South Put didn’t even flinch. I don’t see RP being able to run the ball 50 times and have success against this defense, and their passing game hasn’t shown enough consistency to keep up. South Put looks like the clear front-runner for the state championship, and right now, I don’t see anyone slowing them down.

South Put 54 – RP 12

South Put #3 @ Riverton Parke #5 -  What a show down we will have on Friday night! Two of the best teams in 1A going at it for the sectional championship. Both teams dominated their opponents (Yes, @ThePrince your mustangs). These teams are polar opposites when it comes to scheme. The Panthers want to bunch everything up and run the ball down your throats. Whereas the Eagles want to spread you out and do whatever they want. I think this game will come down to defense. I don't think South Put can stay in their 3 man front and I don't think that RP can play press man to man and blitz them the whole night. Either someone is going to prove me wrong or someone is going to have to adapt and change what they do a little bit.

I'll take South Put winning 35-28

Post Season

Attica - Keep improving and build off this two win season. Dean is doing some good things

Covington - Hoping the numbers aren't going to continue to fall off at Covington. Wheeler has done a great job and if he can keep kids coming out Covington will be competitive soon again.

Fountain Central - I'm with Donnie of this one. Time for a change for the Mustangs

North Vermillion - I'm not sure next year gets much better for the Falcons. Does Crabtree stay this time?

Parke Heritage - Best season for the Wolves since Moore left. I only see them getting better too. The junior high dominated the wrc from what I've heard. I've also heard a familiar face has been on those sidelines coaching the junior high. We'll see what the future holds.

Riverton Parke - Rumor is that they will be better next year. Looks like they might as well make the 2026 conference banner now. Great things are happening in southern parke county but can they win the big games that count?

Seeger - As long as coach Ragan is leading the program they will be in good hands.

South Vermillion  - Coach Miller has done some good things this year and I only see the young Wildcats getting better next year. Their QB is one of the better athletes in the conference.

Round 2 has Seeger at Lewis Cass in 2A

In 1A South Putnam is at Fountain Central and North Central at Riverton Parke.
Seeger had a nice season but playing in the WRC doesn’t prepare them for the 2A tournament. Ask South Vermilions. Cass should roll in this game and probably meet Southmont in the final

South Putnams has been my South favorite the last 2 years. Sorry Prince this could get ugly. Chuck will be smart and them rested for the Tenderloins in week 12. I was told in August they were a year away. Have they closed the gap with South Putnams?

@1st_and_10 they gave me a down thumb over my 2A prediction. Only chics Mudas and Gonzo do that. I swear to God they do!

I don’t know much about football but I doubt SP stays in a 3 man front against a double tight double wing team lol.

Yes, our junior high program and youth teams dominated this season and yes, I humbly take credit for building that program. Not sure what the future holds but we have some cats coming.

Cats? As in Wildcats? Cougars? Panthers? Tigers? What type of cats are you referring to? LOL, have you been on the recruiting trail Billy? So you can take credit for the resurgence of Woolf high school football? Or do you mean kids that can play? Because I have seen your middle school Woolfs. I have my doubts that several of them will transition to the gridiron in high school. Hardwood, more likely.

But we do agree that South Putnam probably won't stay in a 3 man front.

I’ll take credit in a few years. Who won’t transition? Do you mean won’t play football or won’t be good football players? Our offense had over 4000 yards in 9 games. Will Schelsky be the next Christian Johnson? Has the body to be. Lots of factors wait to be seen.

I think Schelsky will end up being a good combo of both Matt King and Christian Johnson. Kid is going to be a stud

Oh boy, that's a heck of a comparison. The kid you're referring to is still just in junior high. Not to be mean, but nobody cares what kind of numbers your middle school offense put up. You can have fully grown 14 year olds playing against 12 year olds that have never seen a razor. Definitely LOTS of factors still in play. Maybe your young Woolfs should work on some run defense. Until they convince me otherwise, PH will always just be a basketball school that occasionally wins some football games.

In the meantime, keep dreaming Billy Boy. And quit derailing this thread from the conversation at hand...

Sectional Championship - South Putnam @ Riverton Parke - The cliche holds true - Unstoppable Force vs. Immovable Object. This rematch of last year's championship game has seemed predestined to happen since last year's final buzzer sounded. The Eagles seem to be primed to make another run at state. They've reloaded their roster and look just as impressive as they were a year ago. Can they dictate the pace and simply outscore and pull away from the Panthers? Speaking of the Panthers, they have done nothing short of simply destroying everything in their path to get back here. They look much improved over last year's edition. Their offense gets a lot of hype, but their catalyst is really their defense. Can they get enough stops against the Eagles' offense? I do not see a repeat of last year as some have been saying. I don't see this version of RP letting that happen. And weather could be a factor this year. It's no secret that SP has played a lot of games on turf. A wet, muddy surface could play right into RP's style of play. We shall see. This will be a great game. Too many story lines to discuss on here, but I think the Panthers will pull out a close one. RP wins

The stat boy from Winamacs always talked about how great their grade and middle school teams were. Things can change after you get a few pubes. I gotta go

It is crazy to hang on Jr High stats. But I also remember RP jr high football printing JR High WRC Champs Football shirts a couple years ago. Was this because they were afraid they couldn’t do anything past jr high?

As for Friday’s championship game, SP’s defense closes the visible gaps quicker than most would expect. And their ends can chase plays down from the backside. I think the Aztec A-Rab Panthers get to end their season hanging their hat on the easily secured WRC championship they had.

Regarding it being time for FC to make a change, just remember he’s the only HOF coach active in the conference right now. You won’t convince me that the X’s and O’s are the problem. From what I heard, FC didn’t have a game where at least one starter wasn’t out due to injury. I agree with the King’s Prince, Herb has several more wins and titles in his future.

Not too far of a comparison when talking about arm strength, body size, strength, athleticism and IQ. Putting up nearly 500 yards a game is pretty impressive when it’s spread evenly across 6 kids.

Only kid I can remember having any success running the ball on PH was the Foxworthy kid from FC. Pretty good!! Only team that gave them a game was RP as Kevin Allen can scheme like a varsity coach.

Every person has mentioned next season and all teams, not sure how I’m hijacking the thread talking about my kids and what we have coming.

SP @ RP --   I really hope this is a good game.  SP has obviously played the tougher schedule, but RP has smashed everyone they've played.   Both team had significant injuries with Benton hurting his knee and playing through it and RP losing their two starting RB's at the beginning of the year.  One (McConnnell) appears to be back based on Max Preps, but Lesniak hasn't recorded a stat since early season.((Yes Prince, you can still win if good players get injured and use it as an excuse)   I think this game comes down to stops on defense and weather.  Can RP stop SP a couple times on defense and steal possessions, and can SP make RP punt and not chew the clock with their running game?   I'm sure the coaches and players at RP are praying for rain Friday night, as its supposed to rain most of the day.    RP 30 SP 24.   I'm cheering for the WRC team.

What a game. Riverton played the best first half of football in their school’s history last night, but ran out of gas in the second.

my few takeaways:

-Panthers came out in a trips spread look before going back to the devils offense. I’ll assume that was Bradley tipping his hat to me. Noted!

-I was shocked to see RP come out in cover 0 press man and load up the box. Evidently they did that all year, it paid off in the first half as I feel SP panicked and kept taking shots and not connecting. Ran a few flood concepts but no real “man beaters”.   Their play calling was pretty vanilla, and their best player wasn’t getting the rock enough IMO.

-RP got out of press man in the second half as Sanders and another DB seemed to be playing deep halves cloud cover 2. Opened up the box which let the SP RB have his way with the panthers in the second.

-SP was what looked to be in a 5-2 with both middle backers extremely wide, dang near over the tight ends. Did a great job stopping jet and counter. Panthers seemed to be having success running what I call A gap power, until their last possession in regulation where they ran it 2-3 times and just gut out muscled and turnover on downs by literal inches.

-Once the Panthers turned over on downs, SP had 2 minutes to go 80 yards, this possession was nothing but a flag fest. 5 on SP and 1 on RP. SP running back prob rushed for 75 yards that possession and all were called back.  I’ve never seen so many flags. Multiple holds, multiple unsportsmanlike conducts, etc.

-If anyone can find out how many flags were thrown I’d say over 20. I said the winner of this game will win the state title, I’m not sure if SP can pull it off being so undisciplined with the flags and having to burn a crucial timeout when they had 13 players on the field, yes 13.

-Lastly, when I arrived to the stadium, the ticket taker must have known me and was not very friendly, she didn’t spit on me which I will say I appreciated, but after getting over my nausea of being in the enemy’s motherland, I continued to feel some sort of evil taking over my consciousness. I looked up and it all made since, Satan himself was there, Coach King. I was greeted with a hug and a few kind words, along with the other dozens of former players and colleagues that made their way to speak to him. It was great to see him.

-If allowed, I’ll give me thoughts on the conference and thoughts on how next year will unfold in my opinion.
