Here's all the mental edge that Dwenger needs.  And if you need something specific, it's that first game of the year where you figure out with your kids everything that you/they could have done that would have turned that L into a W, and then you make every minute count toward making sure that they are corrected so that there aren't any regrets come end of game at LOS.  Focusing on bulletin bioard stuff as mild as a team talking about celebrating their season detracts from that.  A lesson in life says that you control what you can in life and you leave the rest outside.  That would be the impression I'd want to leave on my kids.

Who said “focusing on it“ was the plan?

Like I said, it’s all nonsense once the game kicks off but you bet your tail I would at least mention it when firing my kids up for the biggest game in their lives.

This is where I’m different.  High school kids are impressionable.

Any mental edge I can give them, real or fictional.

I think bulletin board material is used at all levels for a reason.

That being said, don’t think this is much of a motivator. Teams celebrate season post championship games win or lose.

I get that this is and old school forum and doesn't have the popularity it had back when Tim Adams was around. I imagine high school players probably don't know anything about this website, if they did, a few of them would be on here.........human nature. However, I have a hard time believing that a lot of coaches don't visit to see what's being said. If I was a coach, I'd want to know what is being said about my team. They're looking, and maybe even looking for bulletin board material.

The HH fans and GS fans are more predominant on this board anymore (not a bad thing), but with both of them losing there isn't much chatter.  I think the teams in the finals, there aren't a ton of posters on here from those teams.  There are some from Luers, a few from Pioneer, but not many from the other schools playing... Probably why it's unusually quiet.

I wonder how much this has to do with the prevalence of social media.   Other teams/parents/fans (... and, apparently, random trolls?...)  have been coming on the Luers' team and school social media pages as well as on game-related postings from sports pages and sites. with arm-chair analysis and, in many cases, trash-talk, including extensive commentary on the whole p/p debate.

A lot of what is being said on the pages reminds me of the analysis, discussions, and debates that used to take place on GID.

Some the posts have also been somewhat trolling and abusive... which is really inappropriate for a school's social media page.   Luers let it go for a while (as long as it wasn't too bad) in the interests of Free Speech, but it reallynwasn't appropriate and they have started deleting it at this point.

I wonder if people just aren't aware of the GID as a resource.   Perhaps some sort of social media posts that advertised and/or linked to the site would re-energize participation on this site.

Honestly, if this is happening everywhere, I bet the schools would really appreciate some redirection;  game analysis and trash-talking really isn't what school pages are intended for.

That said, I'd be planning for a long, quiet bus ride back to The Fort for Dwenger.

What a great game to watch!  Congrats to Bishop Dwenger on the 4A state championship.  I hope they celebrate all the way back to The Fort.

Obviously Dwenger read the post.  😉

They may very well have. At the end of the day though, regardless of bulletin board material or not, this was just two really good teams going at it for a second time this season. Rubber match to open next season.

I hope this game will be in Fort Wayne.

Would hesitate to call it a rubber match.

Semantics I know but Dwenger won the one that mattered.

Well, yeah. But you know damn well that Roncalli is going to want that opener really bad. I think it will have meaning for those two programs. But you're right, it's the state titles that are remembered.

Dwenger at Roncalli, Week 1.

So Dwenger will play Roncalli 3 times in a row in Indianapolis. Sounds fair to me 🤔
