whiteshoes
I attended the Carmel (IN) - Detroit ML King game last night in what was one of the greatest games I have ever seen. To set it up, ML King is up 33-29 with a little over a minute to go but Carmel has a first and goal at the ML King two yard line. King's defense tightens up and forces a fourth down play which is unsuccessful (an incomplete pass into the end zone). King fans celebrate an apparent win. However, on the first offensive play after the goal line stand, King fumbles and Carmel recovers the ball and runs it in for a touchdown. Carmel fans are elated. King receives the ball with exactly a minute to go in the game and drives the ball down the field scoring with 8.8 seconds to go to take a 40-36 lead. King fans are again elated and think the game is over. For some reason, King pooch kicks the kickoff and Carmel returns it to the King 35 yard line with 3.8 seconds to go. The Carmel quarterback launces a pass into the end zone on the final play and a kid from Carmel blocks the ML King defenders off to make an amazing catch in the end zone. Final score: Carmel 42 Detroit ML King 40. On top of all that, we stumbled into a fantastic place to eat prior to the game. Folks, this in what it is all about.

My first thought was not being able to imagine riding 9 hours round trip on a bus to lose like that. You had posted about some of the talents of King, so I looked them up and saw some things that have now trickled down to HS athletics. 50 minutes ago, gonzoron said: You talking about The Immaculate Reception? Bash Riprock
Hounds knocking off 2 great programs to start the season. Did I understand the QB throwing the winning TD was a backup playing JV last Saturday?? That's a great story. Congrats to the Carmel program. Hosting CG in the Copper Kettle game this friday. Gotta give the Hounds credit for that opening schedule...LVille Trinity, Detroit ML King and Center Grove all in the first 3 weeks. Wow!!
