I’m intrigued by our freshman team

at Bloomington South - W, 41-0

Columbus North - W, 34-22

at Martinsville - W, 26-24

Silver Creek - W, 35-0

We’ll see how it goes down the stretch.

Lawrence North

Floyd Central

at Bloomington North

at Jeffersonville

at South Dearborn

Crazy to think only Columbus East, Floyd Central, and Jeffersonville have freshman teams. I would’ve thought a school as big as New Albany would have one.

You'll blowout FCs freshman team. It's a really bad team. Thankfully our Sophomore class and 8th grade are really good.

They should all have FR teams. Good chance we play some FR games next year, and have some in the past 10 years.

And if your FR beat CN FR, you must be good. I watched them (CN) play Roncalli on Saturday.

You’d think every HHC school would have a freshman team. I was told by one of the East coaches that it has become a problem the last 3-4 years. Since only Floyd Central and Jeff have freshman teams, they’ve had to find opponents themselves for the weeks varsity was playing an HHC team that didn’t have a freshman team.

100% they should have FR teams.

Keep our JV in mind if you need FR games. Usually 20-30% of our JV starters are FR, another 20-30% are guys that will be playing JV as JRs, anyways.

We played New Pals FR team last weekend and it was a really good game. Evenly matched, and imo, that should be the goal for an opponent in a JV/FR game.

I would hope they would already know you guys are an option. If they do, I hope it’s not a case of you guys being a 2A school. Nevertheless, I’ll let him know.

Nahh.. two years ago we were gunna play you guys and it was a torrential downpour with lightning.

And we don't have a ton of openings, just some, sometimes, but it's always nice to have each other in mind when this stuff arises. Such a bummer to miss out on a game, we've gone through it, terrible.

East. They're a legit conference contender. NA hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse yet.

Jeffersonville (3-1, 2-0 HHC) at Floyd Central (2-1, 1-0 HHC)

Im taking FC since it's at home. Dont get me wrong. I'm more nervous about this game then I was weeks ago.

Seymour (1-3, 0-3 HHC) at BNL (0-4, 0-2 HHC)

Seymour. They aren't bad. They just lack experience.

Jennings County (0-4) at Madison (2-2)

Madison. They are better than they usually are.

Week 5 Picks

Columbus East (2-2, 2-0 HHC) at New Albany (3-1, 2-0 HHC): The schedule gets tougher from here for the Bulldogs. After three weeks of playing winless teams, New Albany hosts an Olympians team on a bit of a roll. East averaged 3 points per game and gave up 35 points per game in the first two weeks. The last two weeks they’ve averaged 46 points per game and given up 11 points per game. The Bulldogs have dropped 11 home games in a row to East and I believe that streak continues tonight. The Olympians lead the all-time series 27-6 and have won 21 of the last 22.

Jeffersonville (3-1, 2-0 HHC) at Floyd Central (2-1, 1-0 HHC): This game has turned out to be a much bigger game than any of us anticipated as the Red Devils have outperformed expectations through the first four weeks of the season. However, both teams have played a common opponent already in Seymour and it didn’t take a miracle for the Highlanders to defeat the Owls. Instead, it was a whooping. Based on that, I have to think Floyd Central gets the win. Jeff leads the all-time series 27-26 but Floyd Central has won 16 of the last 19, including the last four. Excluding postseason games, the Highlanders have won 12 straight in the series.

Seymour (1-3, 0-3 HHC) at BNL (0-4, 0-2 HHC): The Owls have had a rough last three weeks playing what looks to be the three best teams in the HHC. Things will get easier from here in their remaining HHC slate. A game against the worst Stars team in over a decade should get them back on track. BNL is off to its first 0-4 start since the 2013 team went 1-9. They’ve shown very slight improvement each week but not enough to win this game. Seymour leads the all-time series 25-24 and has won the last three in Bedford.

Jennings County (0-4) at Madison (2-2): The Cubs are off to a 2-2 start for the first time since 2014, which is the last time they finished a season above .500 (6-5). Meanwhile, the Panthers are 0-4 and coming off their worst performance of the season, a 62-7 drubbing from Columbus East. The home team has won this rivalry game 12 straight times and I’d be shocked if that number doesn’t reach 13 tonight. Jennings County leads the all-time series 32-28.
