Coach Nowlin Posted September 30, 2024 Posted September 30, 2024 Bummer Moore body language is what has been shown......I try not to worry to much about that stuff, some folks in media have said he is an odd duck, but also, getting paid like a super star and I think he feels like every ball should come his way, but man, lot of weapons, so he may just be frustrated with Waldren as well. Time will tell Winning solves all Also, now that Lewis has played 272 games, can we cut him now? At least he wasn't on the field for any penalties this week for the "big dog". ugh Quote

I believe he's one of the offensive "leaders" who called out Waldren last week for not holding players accountable for mistakes. 1 Quote

Boilernation Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Gervon Dexter is tied for 2nd among interior DL with 4 sacks on the year. This guy put in a lot of work in the offseason with the DE's to get quicker and it's paying off. He has been wreaking havoc on interior OL's with pressure this year. Getting him in the 2nd round was a steal. Quote
Boilernation Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Here's CW's pass chart from Sunday. One thing I really like about his play is that he's using the whole field and not just dialed into one side. 1 Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 Just don't check to a RUN when his center is UNDER FIRE !!! Agree on DEXTER!!!! Also, we gotta continue to coach em up on the OL and figured out ways to keep them successful this year. Bears will be able to pick 2 of the best players available in the draft, probably around picks 15 to 37. Im hoping for 24 and 33 personally !!! that means PLAYOFFS and Panthers have 1st pick again !!! Quote

Agreed regarding OL. Seems like they play better when the tempo is picked up. The past 2 weeks have shown the passing game is a lot easier when the running game is working. I don't hate the Swift pickup as much now that we can see what he can do with open field. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted October 8, 2024 Posted October 8, 2024 I believe the Players Only meeting was centered around that very topic, RUN THE BALL, and look the last 2 weeks........ CW has stated many times, he prefers up tempo, what he excels at. And that's exactly what the Bears did after the 1st drive and got off to slow start, down 7-0 and got into rhythm with CW by the the hurry up...... I especially love 5 wide empty with Swift out in the Trips side...... with that offense talent, go ahead blitz CW and watch how fast he finds his 1 on 1 and how fast WR can get open for easy yards. Coach Nowlin Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 Bears only -2 fav vs Jags. interesting Quote

I saw the Bears left on Sunday or Monday. They want the players to have enough time to get used to the timezone difference and acclimate to London time. Smart move. Quote
Coach Nowlin Posted October 9, 2024 Posted October 9, 2024 For sure its not all that bad imo, but Cool they get to experience for a full week, only 6 hours ahead Quote
Bobref Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 OK, I have no problem admitting when I was wrong. It’s still early, of course, but I’m now a Caleb Williams believer. He’s somehow managed to overcome the fact that he’s from USC, to his credit. He has 2 things that are rare in a rookie, and indispensable for a franchise QB: He can read defenses, including pre-snap reads. On several drives it looked like they were running “check with me” almost every play. And he seems to know very quickly where to go with the ball. He is really accurate. And not just with fastballs, either. Accuracy means more than hitting a target in the pros. You have to be accurate not only with “where” you’re throwing the ball, but also with “when” you’re throwing the ball. And he seems able to fit the ball into tight windows just before they close. Also, Ryan Poles is finally feeling better about the D’Andre Swift signing. He was very good today. If he continues to play this way, look for Caleb Williams to develop more in the play action game. 1 Quote

Coach Nowlin Posted October 13, 2024 Posted October 13, 2024 Great win again today Key factors: 1. Saying good bye to Davis at RG 2. Believe it or not, Mercedes Lewis having a discussion with Waldren about RUNNING THE BALL 3. Letting Swift RUN DOWN HILL 4. Waldren being more patient with his toys, and LEARNING what this team can do and MORE importantly what they CANNOT do right now vs NFL 1st string defenses (see Indy Colts Game) @Bobref Spot on with Williams and accuracy and all that!! 100% Loved how he checked out of a bad pass to a swift sweep for like 10 yards. Also, I've said before in these thread, I think. CW loves to run no huddle and that really gets him into rhythm, especially again today after the 1st Q 7 yard 6 play performance. Definition of a SLOW START Concerns: Health of Defensive Backs: Thank goodness bye next week, I'd imagine Brisker back for Washington, Gordon looked bad on the leg... didn't realize Stevenson was out today Kudos to Cole Kmet , big game at primary position and got Bears thru on long snapping for 3 Quarters of action Quote

BINGO on Swift! He is a huge asset for CW to have back there. I'm glad to finally have you onboard, Bob. I've read that Waldren hasn't been holding back. They're taking advantage of his intelligence and feeding him the entire playbook. And it's supposedly complex. As you said, he's progressed to the point where he's taking the time to read the defense and calling checks at the line. It's impressive to see. And his accuracy and ability to put the ball where it needs to be to get caught is impressive as well. The backshoulder TD pass to Allen was an absolutely perfectly thrown ball. The TD pass that was called back for illegal shift looked like it was an absolutely dime on a quick roll out. We didn't get a replay of it though. Just goes to show how badly he missed Moore for a TD on the INT. That was a complete brain cramp of a play. Easy TD. Great to see him bounceback right back wiht a TD drive. 1 Quote
