Tough way to lose a game, although I was rooting for the Commanders because Cathedral alum Terry McLaurin plays there.  It ain't over 'til it's over, as Yogi once said!

Some reports indicate he was taunting Commander fans prior to the play. Watch the video

Unreal. Not sure what's worse: this play or another goal line blunder call by Waldron by calling for a handoff to an OL who ended up fumbling the handoff.

Sigh........

It's clear the priority in the offseason will be OL and DL. Flus and Waldron need to be put under the scope as well. I love Flus as a DC. Not sold he's cut out out to be an NFL HC. No idea what he was doing on the final drive. He didn't have the sidellines covered and basically let Washington get right into position for the Hail Mary attempt. Didn't even bother calling a TO either to regroup the D and for the last play.

He sure didn't handle the ball like the 'Fridge!

Of course Flus double and triple downed today in his idiotic comments. I heard him in 2 different interviews say the play that the Bears didn’t defend the sideline on that allowed Daniel’s to even get into Hail Mary range didn’t matter. He then said they didn’t need to call a TO to regroup on the final play because they had the defense in the spot they wanted them in. Yes, he stuck to that statement even though he was quickly reminded by multiple reporters that Stevenson was on his own yapping with the fans.

I get why this guy is a players coach. For starters, he clearly won’t hold anyone accountable through the media. Regardless of how stupid it makes him look.

Nope. And the Fridge was used with a few minutes left in the 4th quarter and the Bears had clearly already won the game. The brilliant decision to put in an OL to carry the ball at the GL came while trailing Washington in the 4th quarter.

What purpose will it serve to destroy players in the media?    That does not end well.   Best teams in football are player led, I feel from the snippets I have seen, the PLAYERS will be and have been taking the lead on it.  I get the HC is the guy it falls back on, part of the role and responsibility but I been around enough to know that NFL HC are vanilla ice cream in their media sessions ( there are ton of them they have to do) and will not be the classic Neapolitan that many fans crave.   Just doesn't happen.

FLUS, has some issues for sure, no doubt about it, but there are FAR worse coaching situations than FLUS being in charge.

That's why I LOVE the STEELERS as my other team.  3 head coaches since 1967 Chuck Noll.   You don't think Rooney's have had issues and people in their ear about Tomlin, but stay steady and consistent.   I appreciate that

Also, please do not cite FLUS W/L record.....Bill Belichick isn't winning games the last 2 years with that roster.   This is the year that the true evaluation begins on FLUS.   Right now, me, I am giving him a SOLID B thus far.

Whatever Stevenson's punishment is for the situation should be kept in house. But, I don't see anything wrong with calling out a player in the media. Players need to be held accountable. Stevenson is a walking flag waiting to happen every game. He was also hit with a 15 yard unsportsman like conduct call in this game. I'm glad you brought up the Steelers. I 100% agree with you regarding them staying consistent. But, I really don't think Tomlin would have brushed off reporters after the game or a day later and said they didn't need to call a TO because everyone was in their correct position even though one guy is completely out of hte play and engaging fans. That's just tone deaf.

The Steelers have a long history of winning because of good leadership. The Bears have finally figured out the McCaskey's can't be in charge of the ship. They made the right choice by bringing in Warren as President.  Warren is the first President of Football Ops the McCaskey's have hired that wasn't a McCaskey or wasn't a career Accountant with no football experience (Phillips).

At this point the Bears need to make sure they have the correct HC before trying to venture down the path of building longevity at the HC position. And if someone like Ben Johnson is available in the offseason the Bears should really consider getting into that market if the Bears finish out 9-8 with shaky offensive play. Otherwise, they better cut ties with Waldron quickly. They have CW and Odunze on very friendly contracts and Moore locked up for years. Starting next year the offense should be a finely tuned machine. So far Waldron is just not cutting it.

Valid points no doubt

Just don't see Tomlin undressing a player in the media either in 2024, just something Professionals do.   He may have a different tone than FLUS, sure, but blood thirst of the fans will not be given by any NFL HC.   Just my opinion

lol...blood thirst is correct! Do you listen to Carmen & Jurko at all? Jurko is a Region guy from Cal City and he had a lengthy NFL career at DT. He usually has good insight. He agreed with you that there's no way Flus was going to go public with reprimanding Stevenson. IDK, it just really pisses me off that he stood by the stance the D was set and they didn't need a TO. Just admit you didn't see what Stevenson was doing.

Everything I've heard from Chicago media is that Poles loves Flus and he's not on the hot seat. At the very least I hope they don't bring Waldron back if the offense remains shakey the rest of the season.

I do not listen to AM radio on my daily commute from CP to Rensselaer......

I know Jurko of course.   great dude and a guy I would listen to.

I think eye test matters.  Last year, the players played their nuts off for FLUS in a season of disarray and he held firm and was unwavered.....that is a key point.  He will continue to learn better stuff, but I am more patient then the average Joe in that regard, but also understand others who are not and why they are not

Jurko is awesome. I work in Finance and crunch numbers all day in front of a computer so I probably listen to at least 6-8 hours per day of Chicago sports talk while working.

Byard, Johnson, Kmet and Moore all publically criticized the following coaching decisions yesterday to the media:

  1. Kramer time
  2. Fade pass on 1st and goal when Washington only had 1 TO left
  3. Not defending the sideline when Washington still needed about 15 yards to get into range for Daniel's to reach the EZ
  4. Not calling TO before the Hail Mary pass.

If I were Kmet I would corner Waldron and ask him why I wasn't more involved in the passing game. Nonetheless, do you think that aligns with your previous belief that the Bears should be player led? Man, this team badly needs a W in the desert to put the stench of Washington past them.

Fair to raise coaching concerns.....

But it doesn't stop there....players have to execute Coach and you know that.  They have to own the blame as much as anyone.  Especially the Hail Mary.  By that time in their pro career, DB's know they cannot let anyone behind them in the endzone.  Instead of yapping at the fans, how about players get themselves in position to make a play and execute?

Fair criticisms of the coach...but I hope they spend some time looking in the mirror.  If they don't or won't, then bigger issues are on the horizon.

classic......love Flus messaging......still cannot handle game day HC stuff and calling defensive plays......

Can't waste next year.......

OL still sucks. Kmet is apparently just a pass blocker and long snapper now. Defense is banged up. Waldron sucks. Flus is probably out. Poles has some tough decisions to make. Warren won't stop talking about putting cranes in the sky on the lakefront. Shame on me for thinking this year would be any different.

I think CW will be fine. Downfield accuracy is an issue, but he's clearly a rhythm passer and he can't get into a rhythm with that joke of an OL or Waldron's play calling. Hard to really judge him until he's playing in a competent system. It is clear at this point he has the ability to be great.
