Any Indiana Northern States followers on here anymore? I’ve been basically talking to myself the last few INSC threads. Conference game of the week with the only 2 teams unbeaten in conference is Jimtown vs Tippecanoe Valley. Jimtown surprised everyone outside of Baugo with their dismantling of Bremen last week. TV is solid all around and should be a great, physical football game. I’m going Tippy Valley in a close one. Bremen @ Glenn. I don’t think Bremen was as good as their 4-0 start against cupcake teams suggested. But they’re better than they showed against Jimtown last week. Coaching turnover is the only thing I can come up with Glenn isn’t any better. They have the athletes to be much better than what they’ve shown the last few years. I’m taking Bremen. LaVille @ Knox. Knox finally got their first win of the year and they’ve found something the last 2 weeks offensively as they switched to a more under center Power I look. They won’t lose many more this season and 2A teams are going to have trouble with their physicality come tournament time. LaVille is struggling mightily and Knox wins this one with a running clock.

Before Lincoln left the SIAC, I had really hoped the SIAC could be split into two divisions - 5 EVSC and the 5 Others. It does Bosse, Harrison and Central no good to get throttled every week except when they play each other. And it isn't fun or helpful for the opponents either (except being able to rest players). I cannot imagine the challenge a coach faces trying to get players to come out and then getting clobbered each Friday. After this week the Tigers are going to find out what we're made of... Two tough games back to back.

Week 5, halfway there, and some teams are living on a prayer... Attica @ North Vermillion - It's survive and keep playing for the Ramblers. Surely they have some classes coming up to help re-solidify the program? The Falcons play hard, but found out last week they have a long way to go. This week, they shouldn't struggle too much, but this was a close game last year. 42-12 Covington @ Parke Heritage - I hate to say it, but the Trojans might be in the same boat as the Ramblers. Again, they do some good things, but things on the field often get out of hand quickly, and they don't recover well. The Woolfs are licking their wounds from last week. They scored plenty, but couldn't keep pace. (They gave up 7 passing touchdowns?) This week should be a reset for them. 35-18 Fountain Central @ Seeger - The Mustangs are slowly righting the ship and should be hitting on all cylinders come tournament time. They could make this game interesting. The Patriots may have secured the 2nd spot after last week's offensive output. I'm curious to see the results, but I think the home team wins. 42-28 Riverton Parke @ South Vermillion - The Panthers did Panthers things last week. (OL scoring TDs?) Their D is becoming fine tuned. (I heard NV only had 44 Yards of total offense) And a fourth different running back had a multi TD game. In Clinton, the Junior Visors took awhile to get going last week. They can't afford to do that this week. The questions are: Can the Junior Visors move the ball on the Panthers? And can they stop the Panthers from scoring? Answer to both: NO SIR. 48-6

Before anyone gets any ideas.... That wasn't me. I watched that game on the livestream from Janko's Little Zagreb in Btown the night before IU beat Michigan at the Rock... Unfortunately, every school has its fair share of idiots and in places where fans can get close to the playing field (or even to tower cam guys) this kind of crap happens.

Week 6 in the TRC, big game in Bunker Hill with the only two unbeaten teams in the conference will square off. I will post standings later in the week. Who ya got? I am on our chain crew and in the sectional game against Memorial in 2024, an intoxicated Memorial fan got mouthy with our clip guy, I thought that was going to result in a fight, fortunately it did not. My attitude is that no one should ever notice that we are there. Don't talk except to the guy on the box and don't move until the white hat or the guy on the box says move. Do that and it will be pretty uneventful as it should be.

Carroll at South Side - Over by halftime. Nothing against the Archers, but Carroll is in a league of their own Concordia at Luers - Close game to call. Hard to imagine Luers being 0-6. But I guess that happens when two programs in your conference decide to hijack your best players. The Cadets had Northrop on the ropes last week, so don't count them out. Knights 27-20 North Side at Wayne - Mismatch in terms of talent, but North has no discipline. Gimmie the Legends by 14 Northrop at Dwenger - Talentwise, the Bruins should have this one in the bag. Dwenger is a MUCH better program. Saints 28-14 Homestead at Snider - Homestead wasted Snider 38-0 last year. Panthers close the gap. Spartans win 28-24

I did not make a snarky comment. This whole 8-man vs. 11-man situation is a mess. And it could have been avoided had the IHSAA had the cajones to implement a football co-op system.
