He's another Tom Brady in my opinion. Craves the attention. If you're going to commit, stick with it. Everything about college football is turning sad except for what @Irishman notated with IU. But does the cute little IU story make it right? Thank God for high school athletics..............for now.
Listening to Saban on McAfee today. We talk about it often, and he has been vocal about there being a lot wrong with the college game. But he even ventured into college athletics as a whole. He pointed to the guy who was drafted in the NBA that is going to be playing college basketball. If he played in the NBA, he should not be allowed to play college ball. To me that particular thing is not a huge issue. I know college hockey and baseball players have been drafted and still choose to play at the collegiate level. They will even play in minor/developmental leagues before they play in college. In the case of baseball, there are summer leagues players will play in.
Now, college football is a different animal. With all that is wrong, what we are seeing is the usual suspects are rising to the top, except for 1. While Texas Tech has had a breakout year, they play in the Big 12. Maybe I am a bit of a homer, but my opinion is one team has kept fan interest up in this new era. Love them or hate them, IU is the program that has saved college football. For now anyway! Yep, I said it lol. But, people are watching. And people are talking. I will admit, especially this season, if IU is not in the picture, I would have very little interest in the playoff. There are a LOT of people who say the same thing. Whether people want them to win or lose, both groups are watching them. The B1G had the largest viewing audience of a conferencer championship game ever.
Too much equity built up in the SEC over the last twenty years. Throw in the fumbling around in the ACC and Big 12 and you get a situation where it’s easy for voters to overvalue middle of the road SEC teams—for now at least.
That is a great and fair question. I thought the SOS calculation ended after the regular season, given its part of the equation for SOR and ultimately selection for the playoffs. Below is the link to ESPN rankings with SOS. For 2025, ND has a 13 ranking for SOR, and a 44 ranking for SOS.
https://www.espn.com/college-football/fpi/_/view/resume
For 2024, ND has a SOR of 3, with a SOS of 4. (use the same source above and change the year to 2024) They do not state how many games, so I do think you may be correct, in that for the playoff teams, it includes those opponents as well. I didn't do a ton of research, and as Irishman has pointed out, some question of accuracy with Google AI, but it is saying a regular season SOR of 50-65. (see below) But I am not sure if Sagarin and others calculate SOS in the same fashion as ESPN. But, you may be correct and I am not sure how to go back to ESPN to get SOS for only the regular season. (if it does indeed include all post season games) So, your point may be valid that the regular season ND SOS for both 2024 and 2025 may be similar, with a slight improvement in 2025. Note for 2025, ESPN has Wisconsin with the #1 SOS and of all P4 playoff teams, Bama has the best at 6 and Texas Tech as the worst with 54. Note Miami and Ole Miss also have SOS scores +40.
Austin Booker of the Bears was fined $5,818 for each of the 2 roughing the passer penalties in the Packers game, one of which caused a concussion for Love.
Jayden Reed was fined $10,818 for taunting.
There's something SERIOUSLY wrong with that picture imo.
Right....he is the one who said that he is committed there, but he is also the one who added what I quoted. He is the one saying he has those additional visits in mind.
I get the impression he does not understand what commitment means.
There have been so many great Coaches. Brian Moore, Dale Hummer, Rick Malone, Brad Smith, Dave Bolin, Brian Crabtree, Herb King, Brad Sanders, Tom Cook, Scott Cronk, Marty Brown, Ron Stateler, Coach Visor, Mo Moriarty, Rob Beckett.
Maybe some future greats too: Jacob Earl, Scott Moore, Tyler Campbell, Justin Wheeler, Mike Cross, Derek Dean, who else is knocking on the door of greatness?
