  1. When Chatard plays at Lawrence North in post season and it snows...apparently no one pays to have it removed...so it just doesn't get done.

  2. what about a field that gets destroyed due to playing in extremely sloppy conditions, repairing these fields in the offseason can have a significant cost.

  3. Part of the challenge and character of the game. You have to remember the origins of football were in rugby, which was designed to be a simulation of war. The battlefield, aka, the football field, could be a nice mowed surface or pockmarked mudhole. Helps coaching staffs and players to be prepared. Unfortunately there are those who want to eliminate any variable they can from the game, and the growth of artificial turf is one of the results.

  6. It’s not rocket science. The most obvious is the opportunities created by the economic consequences of a commitment to athletic excellence. For example, at Notre Dame, athletic department revenue contributes significantly to the funding of a robust minority scholarship program. Also, the connection between athletic excellence and high numbers of admissions applicants has been demonstrated. Athletic excellence is, in effect, a recruiting tool for the entire student body. That’s a couple. There are more.

  7. When those college students that are on scholarship for academic excellence get the same treatment (free apparel, food, drink, access to top notch nutritionists and strength and conditioning coaches, and free advertisement to them of their work---(TV appearances), etc., we can talk. Until then, your comparison is nothing more than apples to oranges.

  9. I think you would be surprised how many don’t mind 10 teams. I know 6 personally who are happy they don’t have to search for games and travel. Not sure about Castle, North, VL, and Jasper. I know the SIAC doesn’t have to leave conference to find good competition. I completely understand the PACs need for non conference games or at least why HH and GS need those games. I will also say, IMO, GS run to state was helped by more than just scheduling. Obviously, years of hard work from GS faithful played a huge role as well, but if any GS supporter acts like EM and Chatard being bummed wasn’t huge…..I call BS. On siac being closed to scheduling…. 1 team played for state title and another basically was in a state championship semi state because the winner was going to walk to a W in 4A. I don’t see it hurting the siac as much as PAC fans like to believe. Just opinions from an old dude.

  11. https://www.cnn.com/europe/live-news/ukraine-russia-putin-news-03-15-22/h_7a8e1d7f46379d4ab4195a9c21094af7 Russian TV anti-war protester's lawyer still does not know where she is From CNN’s Paul P. Murphy and Richard Greene This screen grab shows Channel One editor Marina Ovsyannikova protesting on air on March 14. (Russia Channel 1) A lawyer for the Russian TV editor who held up an anti-war sign during a live broadcast on Monday still does not know where she is, he told CNN on Tuesday. Dmitry Zakhvatov has been trying to locate Channel One editor Marina Ovsyannikova since her protest on Monday, he told CNN. Zakhvatov confirmed to CNN that Ovsyannikova is the woman seen on air holding the sign and that she is an editor for the channel. "Stop the war. Do not believe propaganda they tell you lies here," the sign read, concluding in English: "Russians against war." Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed the protest as “hooliganism.” “As far as this lady is concerned, this is hooliganism,” Peskov told reporters on a conference call Tuesday, adding that authorities are already handling her case. “The channel and those who are in charge are dealing with it,” he added. “It's not an issue on [the Kremlin] agenda.” Hooliganism is a criminal offense in Russia. Asked about possible criminal charges against Ovsyannikova, Peskov shied away from the question, referring to the “responsibility” that state TV channels bear. “There are certain departments that deal with this,” Peskov said. “The live broadcast of any TV channel and especially those who work there hold a special responsibility.” The Investigative Committee — a top Russian law enforcement agency — launched a pre-investigation check against Ovsyannikova on “public dissemination of deliberately false information about the use of the Russian Armed Forces,” Russian state news agency TASS reported Tuesday, citing an unnamed source. SF is just guessing she may not be found after that stunt......
