  1. In fact, having “obvious built-in advantages” over competitors is hardly exclusive to PPs. From demographics to socioeconomic factors, no 2 schools are the same. The SF is the best way to address competitive imbalances because it only moves a school up if it has demonstrated that it can use those advantages to achieve disproportionate success in their class. Why on earth would you treat Indy Lutheran the same as you treat Bishop Noll? A multiplier or an automatic class bump are solutions to a “problem” that actually doesn’t exist in many PPs.

  2. You also wrestle about 35 matches before Sectionals in wrestling. Probably gonna see every kid you're gonna wrestle in the sectional before it gets there to help with seeding. I'm all for playing 35 games before the sectionals starts for football, I just don't think a high schoolers body can make it that many games.

  4. I dislike all of this "leveling the playing field" nonsense. Whatever happened to embracing a challenge and working your butt off to beat your opponents. This whiny attitude of other team's winning too much and need bumped up does a disservice to the teams that do things the right way regardless of socioeconomic factors, especially at the small school level. Pioneer, as well as a number of other teams, had their heads caved in by LCC for several years in a row in the tournament. Finally in 2016 when they beat them, it was an awesome moment for our team and community that really sparked a good few year run for us. Pioneer has a garbage field, old equipment and little administrative support. They also have ~ 50% Free and Reduced Lunch rate, but in general have been successful since the late 90's. Their feeder program runs the same offense from youth league through high school and several high school coaches also help with the younger levels. Like every small school we will have ebbs and flows of talent, but in general we are successful due to the system we have in place. There are many examples of other teams/communities doing this across the state. It is a shame that instead of rewarding this "commitment to consistence", we instead reward the ineptitude of other programs by enabling this woe is me attitude. If you don't want to get beat, get better.

  5. Tina Turner, unstoppable superstar whose hits included 'What's Love Got to Do With It,' dead at 83 https://www.msn.com/en-us/music/news/tina-turner-unstoppable-superstar-whose-hits-included-what-s-love-got-to-do-with-it-dead-at-83/ar-AA1bDUCq?bncnt=BroadcastNews_BreakingNews&ocid=entnewsntp&FORM=BNC001&cvid=937431aeb6244710a6d78f18155d5ec8&ei=83 Truly an American Musical Icon. She will be missed.

  6. Of course ...more students = more $$ . I get that. Anyone on message boards will pick apart any little thing - but I think the point is pretty clear as far as advantages p/p's have over their public counterparts - thus my feelings for just an "auto-bump" and be DONE with the success factor. Oh....AND SEED THE D#@$ SECTIONALS ALREADY! And none of this "only top 2" bologna - do the entire thing - GIVE SOME CREDENCE to a good regular season.

  7. WEBO 2018-2020 and Ev Mater Dei 2021-2022 are prime examples why 2 years, hard cut offs are ridiculous implementations of the SF.

  8. Not to hijack this thread - but the title of it reminded me that we are almost to my "favorite" (SARCASM) part of the football season - the PLAY TO THUD/QUICK WHISTLE portion of the summer with these 11X11 scrimmages or whatever you want to call them Some annoyances to try and avoid for you new coaches - or advice for coaches that just don't get it: 1. This is NOT the Super Bowl 2. Your actions (Coaches) a lot of times will "fuel" the problems that will arise in the scrimmage. (Hooting/hollering, chest-bumping, etc...) 3. Football is already a combative and emotional sport, don't egg it on by inappropriate actions - AND, if you have a player taking it over the edge, remove him/her until they understand no trophies are handed out in June/July 4. As you can probably tell, I DESPISE these things cause I don't really think football can be played at THUD level...someone (either an RB lowering his shoulder) or a safety running full speed downhill will start it...then the next play someone else has to get it back, and on and on. - That said, I know they are not going away - so here is to hoping everyone stays healthy and understands the purpose of these things.

  9. Just like seeding the sectionals- it really is NOT that hard. Just bump the P/P up one class and be done with it. They have built-in advantages over Public schools and anyone who denies that is just delusional.

  10. I believe its people like you listening to people like you! Cry me a river, poor Frankfort has it rough. I am not sure that is a great argument anymore. Every community has fallen on hard times. Let's take a look at your alma mater, Maconaquah, for instance. Economically that area was on top of the world in the 80's with great athletes. The base was booming, Square D was in full swing, GM and Chrysler were doing well, and farmers were struggling a little. The schools athletics were ok. Nothing super special, but they were always competitive and produced some top athletes. In the 90's the base starts a transition and GM and Chrysler start slowing down. By the 2000's things start getting rough. The base is closing, GM is a shadow of its former self, and Chrysler takes a dip. Square D lays people of and eventually closes by 2019 or so. But somehow a school goes from something like 4% free and reduced lunch to around 70% free and reduced and we don't hear any crying out of them! Cass would be in a very similar situation. There was no industry keeping those communities afloat or breeding new life into the area, and yet they keep chugging along and doing ok in sports. I suppose you can bring up the higher Latino numbers in Frankforts area, but those numbers have risen at Logansport. Yet they are not complaining! Their sports aren't dominating, but they are't lobbying for a move to a 1A conference either. Then again, maybe your right...
