  2. Don't blame him one bit, cannot imagine at his stature in the game it is worth it to Coach Saban to continue to coach in this new era of NIL ownership of teams, Coach Saban is not someone who would enjoy that aspect of the current status of CFB. I salute Coach, tremendous coach.

  3. Congratulations to the Wolverines on their championship and ringing one up for the Big 10. Far and away the weakest field since the inception of the four team playoff. But a championship trophy none the less.

  4. You’re right that they can’t both take Williams with the #1 and get Alt at #9. Here’s what I’d like to see, in order of priority: Keep Fields, which would make the upcoming OC and QB coach hires even more important. I think, with the right coaching, Fields can be a bigger Lamar Jackson. He was a better passer than Jackson in college. No reason he can’t get there at this level. Drafting Caleb Williams - who is not nearly as mobile as Fields- without getting major upgrades in the OL would be just setting him up for failure. Trade down with the #1 pick to get additional draft capital. Combine that with that #9 pick, and get Marvin Harrison, Jr. and the best offensive tackle available. Use remaining draft capital and salary cap room to address edge rusher, LB depth and remaining OL issues.

  5. And you’ve hit on the point where IU and I parted ways. Sampson is a cheater. IU knew that when they hired him and he came in and continued cheating. Izzo’s post Northwestern rant was spot on. The guys IU is recruiting may well be four or five star AAU guys, but in what limited time my wife has forced me to watch this crap, they’re soft, they’re not competitors, and they’re lazy. Mediocrity is the bar at Bloomington and it has been since the Glass administration.

  6. Likely my final IU basketball discourse, in the age of NIL , and when donors have paid almost 40 Mil to tell a FB and BBALL coach to go away. Their is 0 excuse for this poor of guard play for poor roster construction. Indiana has had 1 basketball coach since Bob Knight capable of elevating the program to the level of sustained success it should have (Winning multiple Big Ten titles, making the tourney every year, and talented enough for a possible Final Four run some years) His name was Kelvin Sampson and he had the shortest tenure of any coach. In an age before the transfer portal or NIL Sampson finished with 20 + wins, 3rd in the Big Ten and Tourney berth/ Tourney win (took #7 UCLA to the wire in round 2) IN YEAR 1. In year 2 he signs Eric Gordon to pair with another All American in DJ White a roster of solid role players. They were 22-4 when Sampson was fired........... Now at 68 years old Sampson has built non power conference Houston into a top national program with a final four. Bill Self, Rick Pitino, Sean Miller, Jim Harbaugh in Football, heck Bob Knight himself. Just win that's it just win and you don't have to do it with a bunch of choir boys

  7. Trade 1 for 3 draft MH jr, draft de at 9 then penix or Bo nix if available if later give fields 1 more year but have a capable backup in case injury or poor performance that’s my ideal path for bears but with poles you never know but he has made many good moves and 1 poor one chase claypool

  8. So I conducted an interesting experiment here. My hypothesis appears to be correct. The construct is that the P/P faithful will argue tooth and nail that enrollment is the only measure needed to fairly slot schools into classification for HS football. They have lamented time after time here that there aren't any P/P advantages in high school football. Then, interestingly, when presented with the prospect that once a public get's big enough the advantages dissipate, they will pivot and argue that P/Ps always have an advantage at any level of HS football. There is an interesting dichotomy here, not sure if it is more Freudian or Sabater. It appears they need to have it both ways. I mean "need" in the most literal sense.
